Why is my domain authority lower than my competitors ?
-
I am totally confused with the information that I am getting from the Site explorer. My domain authority is 26, while my competitor's is 29.
I am confused because every one of the factors that SEOmoz uses to determine our domain authority has higher rankings for my website. My SEOmoz rank is higher, my external followed links is higher, and so forth.
The only factor that my competitor has with a greater ranking or number is that they have more internal links. I used the link metrics portion and added their URL to see all of this information.
Can anyone tell me how this is possible ?
My domain is www.Prickettproperties.com and one of the ones that I am looking at comparing is www.liquidlifevacationrentals.com

no - chicfamilytravels.com/ is do follow.

If you look in OSE >> set Show 'only follow' Links From 'external' >> hit Filter >> scroll down and look at the links showing (img alt) (img) [No Anchor Text]. These links are not no-follow.
There is some social activity under the non www version in OSE.

Thank you! What banner links are you referring too ? I will have them fixed asap.
Also, I find that the social media likes and so forth in the site explorer are off by a ton of likes on both of our parts. Why is that?
-
At a glance the page authority of the competitor is slightly higher and they have more social activity. You may have more linking domains but they have some 301 redirects coming in.
Personally I would not focus on this and continue to build a sound link profile.
I would also double check your banner links are set to no-follow!

A mass of spammy links pointing to our domain from dynu.net
Hi MOZ community! Need some help with some strange activity on the link profile of a website I manage... I have noticed since the 4th of August a mass of links pointing to one of our domains. It looks like some kind of attack from dynu.net. I am seeing 100s of different subdomains from this website in the Discovered and Lost area, with DA 1. They are linking to us from very low quality pages with no CSS, that includes just random text. Anybody seeing anything similar or from the same website? Our links report example: https://imgur.com/a/y7pAopJ Also, what is the correct process to deal with such instances? We have used Google's disavow in the past, but I have read that Google are quite proactive at recognizing spammy links, and webmasters don't really need to use that tool. Much appreciated! y7pAopJ

Keyword Research: Page Authority and Keyword Difficulty
A speaker at a conference suggested using your Page Authority (of home page) number as a benchmark in keyword research to compare against keyword difficulty number. So if you had a Page Authority score of 60, you would look for keywords with a difficulty of under 60 (using the MOZ metrics for keyword difficulty). Has anyone used these metrics in this way? Any success?

Better link metrics, but lower rank??
Hello to all, new member here from Houston. I'm learning a lot! I've brought my site up some but my chief competitor is still at #1 position. I ran a full SERP report for my top keyword. My site appears to rank better on: Page Authority…Domain Authority…MozRank…MozTrust...DmT/DmR… Additionally, his on-page grade is F, mine is B! So, it appears sheer bulk incoming links are really where it's at. He beats me, somewhat, at URL Link Counts, also on Followed External Links. The real difference appears to be External Links to This Domain: I have 65, he has somehow managed to get 3500…I think his webmaster has a local directory where everybody links to each other…I can't imagine how a small biz like this, in a fairly non-competitive industry, could get that many. Anyway, thought I'd bring this up for comments/clarifications, if anyone has any---Also, is there a resource to understand these various parameters. Thanks--- John in Houston

Why would my domain authority keep changing when I refresh?
Hi All, I've noticed that my domain authority is changing every time I refresh SEO MOz. In some instances it increases and other time stays the same as a previous month. Is this just a mid-transitional stage? or is there a potential bug in the system? It's making it difficult to know what is really happening.

Open site explorer - Analysing competitors links
When using open site explorer to analyse my competitors links, when going through them, I would click them to have a look at them. Almost all of the ones I clicked on something started to download on my computer and would be a blank page or the tab would disappear when the download begun. What is this? Why have they done this? Is this bad practice? Thanks

Where in SEOMoz pro can I determine how many .edu and .gov links a competitor's site has?
Like in the SEOBook toolbar where you can click the information button and get the number of links to the domain and specific page for .edu and .gov sites. Thanks, Daniel.
