Help to Increase Traffic for On-line Pet Store
-
Hi Guys,
Recently opened a Pet Supply Business www.valuepetsupplies.co.uk and we have launched our web site just last week. We currently have around 1800 products but have literally 1,000'a more to be added but as with everything in life it all takes time and effort. We have the shop sitting on the Presta-Shop e-commerce platform and it is connected with FB (1350fans), Twiter, Pinterest and a blog. Currently we have circa 600 visitors each month but we obviously need far more than that to compete in this marketplace. I am going to try and use some of the tools on this site to see what insights I can ascertain.
So I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction of what do get done next, I have some ideas but I thought I would put this on the table to see what some of the real pro's suggestions would be.
Criticism also is welcomed.
Thanks for looking guys could do with all the help I can get right now.

Hi Allen,
Many of the images need the alt tags seen to, presta shop is not uber friendly on this one but we are getting round to it.
Thank You very much.

Thanks Jeremy,
Google we have, Bing was next and Alex I didn't think about so thanks for that, site structure I think you can access most products within 2 clicks, in the process of Audit at the moment.
Appreciate your Input.

Hi Egol,
Thanks for that, whilst we have had many of the descriptions professionally rewritten some as you correctly point out are not, but those as with the Coming Soon pages are currently marked as noindex whilst we get up to speed on these.
Targeting good keywords and title tagging again we are aware of this point and that was/ is part of phase 2 after getting the original delivery up on line.
Purchase buttons, I presume you mean add to cart, In my mind these are very visible on each product box without being intrusive but maybe that's not what you meant, possibly you can elaborate.
If you don't have a budget to hire someone, then you have two options. Do it yourself or don't bother, and I yes it has taken time and yes we will make mistakes but It's not all guesswork.
Anyway Ego I do appreciate fully your feedback.
Thanks.

This site is dead meat until unique product descriptions are written. Thousands of other people are using the same product descriptions.
Check here... thousands of duplicates.
Lots of other problems:
--- lack of targeting good keywords to products
--- poor title tag writing
--- purchase buttons out of site
--- "coming soon" pages create thin and duplicate content
So, my bet is that you are trying to learn this as you build it. Lots of people do things that way but it takes a lot of time and you have to learn from lots of mistakes. My suggestion is to hire someone who knows how to build a successful retail site, pay them to study your site and coach you through getting it up and running. Then you will be working for wins instead of guessing. The cost is about the same. You can pay for mistakes or pay for actionable advice.

Snoop,
If getting more online visitors is the goal, then using some of the online page grading services might help improve the skeletal structure of the pages.
Just my quick scan of the landing page indicated the page title is too long and a H1 title tag is missing. In addition there are two images that are missing an "Alt=" tag. These two missing tags represent an opportunity for you to promote you keywords further.
A page that is easily indexed, and optimized for your keywords will rank higher, and attract more visits.

Hi Snoop D,
quick wins can be found in these three gems:
Have you registered the site with bing, alexa and google?
look at the site structure, how many clicks does it take to land on a product? You want this to be a maximum of three.
Use the on page audit to audit product pages, for product keywords.

Bing SEM Traffic showing up as Organic in Moz?
Hi there, Everyone! First time poster. 🙂 One of my clients has an ads string showing up in organic search? It is: s=bing_search&p=none . If I block it in the robots text, then I won't see any traffic results.

Help with 301 redirects.
Hi, I would like to say thank you in advance to all who help me with my question. MOZ crawl test showed duplicate content for a site that i just finished. I have www.site.com, site.com and site.index.html( all are the home page) So i have decided to 301 redirect all pages to site.com. And I also learned that when you do a 301 redirect all link juice is passed to the page that i redirect to. Here is my question: If someone links to my site using www.site.com instead of site.com in the future, will the 301 redirect still pass the pr to the page?( site.com). Or it only does, at the time of redirect and not in the future. I know this might be a stupid question but i am really new to this and couldn't find an answer for that. Thanks guys

HELP - Configuration Killing Me, Dying on Google, About To Give Up
My organic Google traffic just completely died and it is not Panda related. I really need someone to offer some suggestions because I am about to give up. This is going to be a bit complex .. Here is the skinny: I have several relatively new sites. My main site for the purposes of this discussion is smartwatchnews[dot]org and I host my sites on wpengine.com. My traffic was was slowly building and I was averaging 2000+ unique visitors per day on 8,000 highly ranked Google impressions. In addition, Google was indexing my new posts about an hour after they were made. After reading seoMoz in its entirety and subscribing to Moz PRO, I decided to streamline my site, and focus my content to provide a better user experience. Here are the changes I made: 1. For ease of administration, I converted all of my sites into a single multisite wordpress installation. For some reason, Google now has half of my pages listed on the master site smartwatch.smartfamily.wpengine.com, and not on smartwatchnews.org. I have implemented 301 redirects for the pages at issue hoping to fix this problem. 2. At the same time, I also streamlined my categories and tags and used 301 redirects to route users to the right pages. 3. Finally, I subscribed to Moz Pro, analyzed my sight, and reduced usage of my keywords to around 3%. I had not stuffed, but the focus of my site necessarily resulted in me using certain words frequently. Within one week of implementing the above-listed three tweaks, I went from getting 2,000+ visitors per day to ~200 and my Google impressions went from around 8,000 highly ranked per day to approximately 150 poorly ranked. In addition, Google went from indexing my site hourly to indexing about once per week now. I do absolutely no blackhat, link-building or marketing of any kind. Other interesting things I have noticed: 1. Several SEO companies have linked to my site recently ... for example, all of a sudden, chkme.com just showed up in Webmaser Tools with over 1,000 links to my site. I have no idea who they are. 2. Google Analytics shows that my site has an average page load time of 33 seconds! It has never taken me more than 2 or 3 to load one of my pages and I have Google PageSpeed scores in the 90s. I guess what I really want to know is, can I just create a bunch of quality content over the next few months and the problem will remedy itself, or is there an obvious problem that I need to fix? I am at my wits end ... can anyone offer any suggestions before I simply chuck the whole thing? Thanks in advance for ANY assistance, ideas, or simply "hang in there's" ;-(

Does crawling help in optimisation.?
the website is as it was last week. no optimisation from my side for 10 days now. i was ranked 5 with my keyword not much competition there. however 2 days ago i registrred at seomoz and created a campaign for my website with my keywords that were ranked 5 in search. today i see that my rank has gone up to 2. i have nt done any optimisation neither have ii created any backlinks. so how and why did i climb up? i just created a campaign and let seomoz crawl my website for 2days. am i to assume seomoz crawl optimises website? if that is the case then can i create a campaign crawl pages, climb up in searches, delete the campaign after a week, create it again crawl pages and climb up and so on ? please advise?

This Rookie needs help! Duplicate content pages dropped significantly.
So I am pretty new to SEO Moz. I have an e-commerce site and recently did a website redesign. However, not without several mistakes and issues. That said, when SEO Moz did a crawl of my site, the results showed A LOT of Duplicate Content Pages on my site due to my having one item in many variations. It was almost over whelming and because the number of pages was so high, I have been trying to research ways to correct it quickly. The latest crawl from yesterday shows a drastic drop in the number of duplicate content pages and a slight increase in pages with too long page titles (which is fixable). I am embarrassed to give the number of duplicate pages that were showing but, just know, it's been reduced to a third of the amount. I am just wondering if I missed something and should I be happy or concerned? Has there been a change that could have caused this? Thanks for helping this rookie out!

How can I increase my domain authority score?
We've jumped up in our rankings, page authority scores, and our toolbar PR over the past year, but our domain authority score remains the same as it was this time last year. I have noticed that for most people's sites, domain authority is typically higher than page authority, and my suspicion is that our domain authority score staying static is capping our page authority potential to some degree. Our SEOmoz scores are quite low for our toolbar PR. I've looked at the SEOmoz page relating to domain authority, and it rather vaguely says 'improve SEO generally across your site'. Other than age, the only thing I can think of is that maybe we have backlinks ranging across too broad a spectrum of topics. Being a web hosting company, we get a lot of links from our customers' sites that aren't related to our industry. Anyone got any specific advice? To provide some context, it's a PR7 website that's around a decade old with links in the hundred thousands. We score just 59 for domain authority. Thanks in advance, Jenni
