301 Redirect tracking
-
Hi All,
I have a 301 redirect tracking issue.
I have a domain, say www.123.co.uk and I have that domain 301 redirecting to www.abc.co.uk.
Looking in analytics, I do not see any referral traffic sources for the redirect i.e. I do not see www.123.co.uk as a referral (and I know it does sent traffic).
My question is - how can I implement a solution that will show referral traffic from www.123.co.uk to www.abc.co.uk as a referal in analytics?
Hope that makes sense?

Hi Matthew,
If you add utm tracking variables to the url that you redirect to (you can use the url builder) that should do the trick, something like:
http://www.abc.co.uk/?utm_source=www.123.co.uk&utm_medium=301&utm_campaign=www.123.co.uk
This page goes through it in a bit more detail. Should do what you want.

Hi, i have a website that have, as many others, a mobile version. I want to know if there exist a way to track the mobile user experience, for example, how many times scroll down the page, where touch the screen, and actions that only have sense with mobile visitors. what do you think? Thanks, Juan Ignacio

How can I track my rankings on Google Images?
I noticed a small amount of traffic coming from a particular very generic keyword. Being pleasantly surprised that we are ranking for this, and after some digging, I found that we are actually ranking in Google images, rather than in the web results. How can I track whether other keywords are ranking in Google images? I use Rank Checker to track keywords in the main web results, but this doesn't have a function for Google Images. Help please - thanks.

Cross Domain Tracking in GA (without cross domain links)
Hi everyone, Been doing some research about cross-domain tracking in Google Analytics (preferably Universal Analytics where documentation is a bit spare). All of the tutorials focus on the auto-linking and ensuring links to the other site are taken care of. I'm considering a site that may not cross-link like that at all (or it may, but won't be the main avenue). A good example is: www.gap.com

www.bananarepublic.com
www.oldnavy.com Now, they do link to the other brands in their navigation but let's pretend that they don't necessarily do that. Gap Corporate may want to roll up all these domains into a single reporting profile because customers can clearly visit any of those sites on their own and buy. It would be nice to know that Visitor X bought 2 items from gap.com and 3 from oldnavy.com... and of course, here were their campaigns, etc. From what I am reading, I am not sure this is really possible. It seems that the cross-domain code is really only best for when my main site links to another domain for checkout or something. But in my example, we are definitely not in control of that kind of behavior. Thoughts? Perhaps I need to recommend they go with subdomains only which Universal GA seems to handle quite fine out of the box. Thank you!0 -
Uptick in not tracked conversions / anyone have a list of things that google analytics will not track
There seems to have been an uptick in users on our site not being tracked in Google Analytics cause I see a lot more un-tracked revenue in the last 6 months then I used to. I know analytics is still working as it has been tracking a normal amount of visits but I assumed there might be a reason less would be actually showing up in analytics (mabye a change is what is being reported as organic). I know a lot of stuff goes into "not provided" such as logged in search and stuff like that but is there a list of all of the ones that go into not provided and all that just do not get tracked (javascript not enabled, iOS?). If it could be something else as well let me know. Thanks for the help!

How do you track badges?
I have had some success these days with a couple of badges I have created. It wasn't too difficult for the efforts to result in a bunch of links as they where on topics people are very passionate about. My question is how do people usually keep track of what websites their badges end up on besides watching for analytics visits? There has to be an easier way to know who has used your badge on their website?

Tracking Required Form Fields in Google Analytics
I tried searching for this elsewhere but am having a hard time finding a good answer. Is it possible to track the effect of required form fields on conversions in Google Analytics? In other words, how do I track whether or not more/less people fill out a form if I make "Last Name" a required field? Thanks 🙂
