Open Site Explorer detects links from a site that redirects to it? How is this possible?
-
I was checking external links to a site: scte-brasilien.de/ and was wondering why there are so many links pointing from another domain (reisen-nach-brasilien.com/) although it redirects to scte-brasilien.de/?
So when checking the redirecting domain OSE knows its redirecting...
The URL you've entered redirects to another URL. We're showing results for scte-brasilien.de/ since it is likely to have more accurate link metrics. See data forreisen-nach-brasilien.com/ instead?
How is this possible?
best regards

Hi Holger,
It seems to me that you have a permanent 301 redirect error on your server. Or somebody has hijacked your DNS. You may want to check both things very soon.
Check your robots.txt file
Check your DNS settings make sure you're a record is not pointing to http://scte-brasilien.de/
Is either your DNS or your server I would call your hosting company and have it checked out.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Ryan,
in my advanced report I receive these links: please see screenshot below & report here
And please help me with these issues too:
-
In the Column "Page Authority" there is sometimes is no value and in my case "Expeditions"... (may be this is an error because I must replace always " , " with " ** ; **" because I have a german Excel version and changing it via the system option does not work. So may be that here occur these errors.)
-
the column "Origin" sometimes give me the values like: 193,57,36 or 30 and at the Target URL "External" instead of the URL.
-
also the column "Link Equity" contains sometimes an URL and "301" = Yes
is this all caused by Excel? If yes, is there an alternative software that reads csv-files correctly?
Thank you!!

Hey Holger,
Thanks for the question! I took a look at the report for scte-brasilien.de and reisen-nach-brasilien.com, and the only links to scte from reisen are the 301 redirects. You can look at the screenshot here: http://www.screencast.com/t/7K6jmevRuw
Cheers,
Ryan Watson

The server gives OSE a code like 200 (all ok) or 301permanent redrect

Redirect analysis tool
I'm looking for a tool like this: http://www.internetofficer.com/seo-tool/redirect-check/ that can check hundreds/thousands of URLs and give me a report as to which ones have been redirected. Does anyone know of something that can do this?

Canonical issue in open site explorer
When I look at my back links in OSE, I see two landing pages on my site that are really the same page. www.mysite.com/ and www.mysite.com/(affiliate code here) These show different inbound link characteristics and page authority. The page in question has a rel=canonical tag. Am I doing something wrong?

Sorry, perhaps a noob question. In relation to site explorer, have also searched and unable to find any information, wondered if anyone could advise as to what "Linking C Blocks" are? Found under the "Compare Link Metrics" tab. Thanks in advance. Lee

What are no followed links?
Hi there, probably this is so self explaining that I didn't find it described in the tutorial about learning to use PRO or here in Q&Α. But remember, there is no dumb question 🙂 What are the followed vs no followed links? I understand followed links as backlinks to my site, but what is a no followed link? Thank you in advance!

Strange Links in OSE
Hey seomozers, The most recent Linkscape update has created some strange links to our domain. They are links which when I navigate to are download links, here is one example: http://mirror.centos.org/centos/4.9/updates/x86_64/headers/kernel-largesmp-0-2.6.9-89.0.25.EL.x86_64.hdr Now this links has nothing to do with our site and I can't see how it would count as a link to our domain, can anyone shed some light on why these types of links are being crawled as a link to our domain? Thanks Nigel

Certain Domains no longer recognised by open site explorer
Afternoon everyone (well, it is for me), We've been tracking the linking root domains to our domain for around 6 months now, alongside tracking these domains we have also been engaging in linking building activities. Our initial activities worked quite well with linking domains rising from around 620 to 720 in 3 months. However, recently we have seen those numbers begin to fall away, in many cases it is because certain domains have stopped linking to us, have become no=follow sites or have been archived. But, in some cases we can see the link is still there, and is being registered by other tools such as yahoo or webmaster tools. My question is really, does anyone have a way of working out why a link, that was in the past being registered by open site explorer, is no longer registering and presumably no longer passing over juice to help with domain authority. What kind of signals should i be looking for to tackle a 'decaying' link? Looking forward to hear your thoughts!
