Our Duplicate Content Crawled by SEOMoz Roger, but Not in Google Webmaster Tools
-
Hi Guys,
We're new here and I couldn't find the answer to my question. Here it goes:
We had SEOMoz's Roger Crawl all of our pages and he came up with quite a few erros (Duplicate Content, Duplicate Page Titles, Long URL's).
Per our CTO and using our Google Webmaster Tools, we informed Google not to index those Duplicate Content Pages. For our Long URL Errors, they are redirected to SEF URL's.
What we would like to know is if Roger is able to know that we have instructed Google to not index these pages. My concern is
-
Should we still be concerned if Roger is still crawling those pages and the errors are not showing up in our Webmaster Tools
-
Is there a way we can let Roger know so they don't come up as errors in our SEOMoz Tools?
Thanks so much,
e

In order to answer your questions, we need to understand exactly how you "instructed Google".
If you went into Google Webmaster Tools and changed settings such as parameters of URLs, then only Google will know about those changes. Roger wont know and neither will Bing or any other crawler.
Whenever possible I recommend making the proper adjustments on your site so all crawlers know and understand how to crawl your website.
**1) Should we still be concerned if Roger is still crawling those pages and the errors are not showing up in our Webmaster Tools **
Yes. First of all, Bing + Yahoo = 30% of the search market and they will experience the same trouble as Roger. Second, by informing Google directly you are making changes in a way that make it impossible for tools such as Roger to provide you with actionable data.
2) Is there a way we can let Roger know so they don't come up as errors in our SEOMoz Tools?
Not that I am aware of. I wish Roger made better friends with Googlebot and could learn all the personal settings, but that was not possible the last time I checked.

Do I need to set the country in Webmaster Tools even if I am set to apply the hreflang tag to our different country pages?
We are global brand that will be migrating to a new platform in the next few months. As such, this will allow us to fix our current SEO issues. We are planning on using geo-targeted subfolders instead of country code top level domains primarily because of resource limitations. My question is - do I need to set the country in Webmaster Tools even though I am already going to tell Google that certain pages are targeted towards a specific country?

Using seomoz.
Hi, I'm scouring the web for new links, and am taking a closer look at OSE; I'm trying to gauge whether the PA & DA rating(s) in the results page for a domain search takes into account any penalty signals the site may be showing, and whether there is a 'real' way to identify how much value links from the source will give you (if for example, there's already x10 other links away from that page or x100 links away from that domain). Basically - what else needs to be taken into account when using this app to identify link sources, etc. Thanks, David

Site Not On Google, SEOmoz shows as 43
The site I'm helping with was at one time a page 1, even #1 on page 1. Lots of changes, problems when someone else did something and dropped to page 4 for keyword. After some recent tweaking I did, it no longer shows on rankings. No penalty on Google Webmaster, in Webmaster tools it shows the sitemap processed with no errors. SEOmoz still shows it at #43 in Rankings. Why does SEOmoz see it, but I don't? Site is www.plussizeplum.com (sorry, plus size women's lingerie) and keywords are "plus size lingerie".

Canonical URLs and Duplicate Page Content
My website (doctor directory) is getting a lot of duplicate page content & duplicate page title warnings from SEOmoz. The pages that are getting the warnings are doctors profiles which can be accessed at three different URLs. Problem is this should be handled by the canonical tag on the pages. So example below, all three open the same page: https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/ https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/gkv https://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh/pkv Here's our canonical tag (on line 34): rel="canonical" href="http://www.arzttermine.de/arzt/dr-sara-danesh" /> So why is SEO moz crawling the page? We are getting hundreds of errors from this - and yet Google doesn't have any of the duplicate URLs indexed...

Duplicate content error?
I am seeing an error for duplicate content for the following pages: http://www.bluelinkerp.com/contact/ http://www.bluelinkerp.com/contact/index.asp Doesn't the first URL just automatically redirect to the default page in that directory (index.asp)? Why is it showing up as separate duplicate pages?

The latest Crawl Diagnostic has found 160 Errors on my site.

And my error is, that the same content or title is used on two different! pages:
on both my root domain (han-mark.com) and the www subdomain. What does it matter (with or without www)? How serious is that error? Do I need to fix all the errors (and hundreds of warnings too)? What's the best practice? Is there any Guide on how to do it

Reducing duplicate content
Callcatalog.com is a complaint directory for phone numbers. People post information on the phone calls they get. Since there are many many phone numbers, obviously people haven't posted information on ALL of the phone numbers, THUS I have many phone numbers with zero content. SEOMoz is telling me that pages with zero content looks like duplicate content with each other.. The only difference between two pages that have zero coments is the title and phone number embedded in the page. For example, http://www.callcatalog.com/phones/view/413-563-3263 is a page that has zero comments.. I don't want to remove these zero comment phone number pages from the directory since many people find the pages via a phone number search. Here's my question: what can I do to make google / seomoz think that thexe zero comment pages is not dupliicate content?
