I have a Forum, so as a result I have a lot of links Is that a problem?
-
I'm looking at my initial reports, and it says one of my problems is that I have too many links. should I be concerned? Because part of my site is a forum.

Hi Taimoor,
I'm a little bit confused by 'too many links' - which report are you looking at? Is it an on-page report?
If you're talking about excessive internal links then whilst this won't harm the page, but you may find you have issues getting all of the pages on your indexed (if the excessive internal linking is a deliberate information architecture decision and the only way the search engine robots can crawl and index the pages on your site).
If you're talking about excessive external links then your page may be considered spammy by the search engines (particularly if those links are not pointing to high quality/trustworthy sites).
I hope this helps,
Hannah

Hi Taimoor,
While it is impossible to decipher which links are problematic without viewing the data first hand, it is not necessarily a problem to have an abundance of links on a forum-associated website. If the links are coming from non-spam sources in your forums, Google will likely not penalize your site simply on number of links alone. However, this could also signify a strategy for other areas of your website to have more original content and less of a focus on links. Again, it is difficult to tell without knowing more about the site and the links, but this should give you a starting point.

It really depends on the types, quality and anchor text saturation in your profile. Anyone who says otherwise is just plum crazy. It's impossible for anyone to say without looking at the link profile in question.

Is there a tool that can rank multiple results for a single keyword?
Hi all, I have searched the web for a tool that can tell me if more than 1 landing page is ranking for a single keyword. I have noticed sometimes that a single keyword query can trigger up to 3 landing pages within the 1st SERP. I found an old bookmarklet from Lunametrics that might do the trick using Search Console data, but the link is no longer working. Any other pointers, or can Moz do this as well? Thanks!

Crazy competitive link analysis, 1 - 40 - 38
I'm seeing very strange results on my competitive link analysis. It used to give me a fairly constant domain authority of 38, now one hour i'm seeing 1, then 38 then back to 1 but if I look in opensite explorer it says I have 40. The same weirdness is having to every other stat in the section both in the overview and more detailed section. The same thing is happening with one of the other competitors i'm comparing my link profile with. What's going on?

Open site explorer result discrepancy
Hi all, I'm a little confused - when using open sites explorer to view of link stats on one of our competitors site I get conflicting results. For example - Page Specific Metircs shows the url www.xyz.com has 265 external links. But Root Domain Metrics show they have 22,687 links Yet the total links at the top of the report says Total links 999 Can someone explain why www.xyz.com has 265 external links and the rot domain (which is the same) has 22687 links? I've also run the report on xyz.com rather than www.xyz.com which yielded no results. Thanks in advance

In OSE "Followed Linking Root Domains" = "links from homepages"
In OSE's, "Followed Linking Root Domains" are defined as "The number of root domains that have at least one followed link to a page or domain." Does this mean that if one of my competitors has, let's say, 1000 followed linking root domains, they have a link pointing to them on the homepage of 1000 other sites? Thanks for your help!

Difference between Webmaster and SEOMoz back-link stats?
Hi there, I just noticed that there are differences between the links to my site showing on my Google Webmaster account and what is showing on my link analysis on SEOMoz. Has anyone noticed this? In webmaster I am showing 857 links to my site from 92 different domains. In SEOMoz I am showing 816 links to my site from 53 total linking root domains and only 39 followed domains? Does anyone know why this there is a difference? Are the links showing in Webmaster all indexed and followed links? Thanks in advance 🙂 Karl

Moz tool bar showing less links
Just checked our links for a couple of our sites and noticed that the number of inbound links has dropped from around 55,000 to 13,000 on one and from 6000 to 700 on the other. GWMT still showing the previous amounts. Anyone else experienced this over the last few days?
