Social signals: are they weighted differently?
-
I know social signals affect your site's ranking: but does it make a difference whether these come direct from your website (eg, people click on the Facebook button on a page, which is then posted to their own profile - ie, they create their own post) or whether people are share/like a post you have created on your Facebook account which contains a link to your website. Are they seen as equally as useful/important?

I think this answers your question

Thanks for looking into this Chris. It does lead me to another question though, if you could shed any light please: I see that one of my posts has been liked on Facebook 116 times - according to the Facebook button on the page. But the post that I placed on Facebook linking to the page only shows 9 likes. Is the Facebook button on the page measuring those who created a Facebook post using that button (which I wouldn't necessarily see if I'm not friends with that person)?
Thanks for your (anticipated) help!

Nick, I did a lot of searching on this for you and my conclusion is that at this time, we're not able to distinguish a difference in ranking value between the two.

Hi Does anyone have experience of re-branding LinkedIN or Facebook? Can you keep the company page/followers and just change your name or do you have to start again? Thank you!

Social media signals and their roles in Google rankings
Hello, I keep on hearing that social media signals have a role in the way Google ranks pages and sites, but for now, I haven't seen any hard evidence of that. Like any other company, we have pages on facebook, linkedin, google plus and twitter, to which we post daily. No, there are no clients coming in from social media, so I was wondering if it's worth investing time in adding every day updates, unless those count in ranking on Google. What do you think, is there a link between social media and Google rankings, and how much does this weight in ranking my sites? Thank you

Recommendations for a collaborative workflow for an integrated content marketing / social media campaign?
We are currently using an excel spreadsheet that is a homemade checklist of all of the various places we want to post. We take one topic, and we make various formats (video, promotional image, blog article, press release) and we list all of the posts we want to make in all of the channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, FB, instagram, pinterest, etc.). Is there any articles that describe a more streamlined way to do this? We have tried basecamp but looking for other options. We have a small team of about 5 people that collaborate to design, write, and post the content. I was looking for an article that describes the workflow that might simplify the communication and execution of this process. Thanks!

Request: Feedback on new free tool that provides social analytics for recent blog posts
We have created a tool that provides "at a glance social metrics" for the URLs listed in an RSS feed. Its intended purposes are: Monitor the social success of your recent blog posts Spy on the social success of your competitors' recent blog posts Quickly analyze a blog for social sharing metrics to determine whether it is a good outreach prospect or guest post opportunity Check out the tool at http://www.rypmarketing.com/tools/rss-social-analyzer.php I've attached a report run on the YouMoz RSS feed. Would love to hear some feedback on the tool... Do you think the tool is useful? Nice, but not worthwhile? What could be done to improve it? What ways do you think it will be most useful? Thanks! I am trying to figure out the best social bookmarking and social networking sites to use for my eCommerce sites. Often in the social bookmarking platforms posting a review or a product is instantly considered spam. I know that having links from these types of sites are important but I don't want to come across as spam. What creative solutions do you use for this challenge?
