Google Tag Manager
-
Has anyone used Google Tag Manager and do you feel it is worth it?
-
I'm lucky, my business partner is a developer and he is fantastic with code.
Hence why I have such a good content manager system, especially for SEO purposes.
I'm not a fan of WordPress or Drupal so Google's Tag Manager will come in handy if and when I have to deal with a website using those systems again.

Hi Christina,
When I compare it with generic CMSs, like WordPress and Drupal, the advantage that Tag Manager gives is the way it streamlines all the tags. When dealing with multiple scripts, I find it very convenient. Secondly, you get the scripts of all the clients from one account.
I believe, it has been setup for organizations, where marketers are different from developers. So, with Google Tag Manager, marketers will not have to contact developers or site administrators for adding scripts.

Thanks Mayank
I've had a good look at it today and it does the same as our content manager, but it will be handy to use on any client who does not use our cms.

Hi Christina,
Have been using Google Tag Manager since its launch. It is completely focused on making marketers's tasks free from the involvement of developers. It achieves the objective to a great extent.
I like it for the following reasons:
1. Once you have added Tag Manager script to the site, you do not need to go again to the HTML source for adding a script. It's pretty smooth at that function
2. It's a long term approach and can prove a great time saver for teams working on active campaigns.
3. Account management is easier - more like Google Analytics. You can handle scripts for different sites or campaign from a single platform

Product Pages not indexed by Google
We built a website for a jewelry company some years ago, and they've recently asked for a meeting and one of the points on the agenda will be why their products pages have not been indexed. Example: http://rocks.ie/details/Infinity-Ring/7170/ I've taken a look but I can't see anything obvious that is stopping pages like the above from being indexed. It has a an 'index, follow all' tag along with a canonical tag. Am I missing something obvious here or is there any clear reason why product pages are not being indexed at all by Google? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Update I was told 'that each of the product pages on the full site have corresponding page on mobile. They are referred to each other via cannonical / alternate tags...could be an angle as to why product pages are not being indexed.'

How to NOT appear in Google results in other countries?
I have ecommerce sites the only serve US and Canada. Is there a way to prevent a site from appearing in the Google results in foreign countries? The reason I ask is that we also have a lot of informational pages that folks in other countries are visiting, then leaving right after reading. This is making our overall Bounce Rate very high (64%). When we segment the GA data to look at just our US visitors, then the Bounce Rate drops a lot. (to 48%) Thanks!

Google Fetch Issue
I'm having some problems with what google is fetching and what it isn't, and I'd like to know why. For example, google IS fetching a non-existent page but listing it as an error: http://www.gaport.com/carports but the actual url is http://www.gaport.com/carports.htm. Google is NOT able to fetch http://www.gaport.com/aluminum/storage-buildings-10x12.htm. It says the page doesn't exist (even though it does) and when I click on the not found link in Google fetch it adds %E@%80%8E to the url causing the problem. One theory we have is that this may be some sort of server/hosting problem, but that's only really because we can't figure out what we could have done to cause it. Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and Happy Holidays! Ruben

Canonical tag
Hi all, I have an ecommerce client and on the pages they have a drop down so customers can view via price, list etc. Natrurally I want a canonical tag on these pages, here's the question. as they have different pages of products, the canonical tag on http://www.thegreatgiftcompany.com/occassion/christmas#items-/occassion/christmas/page=7/?sort=price_asc,searchterm=,layout=grid,page=1 is to http://www.thegreatgiftcompany.com/occassion/christmas#items-/occassion/christmas/page=7. now, because the page=7 is a duplicate of the main page, shouldn't the canonical just be to the main page rather than page=7? Even when there is a canonical tag on the /Christmas/page=7 to the /Christmas page? hope that makes sense to everyone!
