How do I force a crawl?
-
In the campaign overview it reads that 0 pages were crawled. Also got an email saying that a comprehensive audit will be done in 7 days. But the 'crawl in progress' wheel disappeared. I think it stopped, and I need to submit that report to substantiate buying the tool!
How do I force a crawl?

That is not through the campaign, it's through the Crawl Test Tool at http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test

Thanks a lot for the feedback everyone. I see it's crawled 11k pages now. @NakulGoyal you said that we're allowed 2 crawls per day - how do we action/ initiate these crawls?
-
Hi Ilhaam,
Thanks for writing in and sorry that you didn't receive a full crawl. Unfortunately, we had an issue with our crawler starting yesterday evening that caused some crawls not to complete properly. Our engineers have already completed a fix for this problem and we have gotten you a full crawl now. You should be able to access the updated data on your account now.
If you're still running into any issues, please email us at help@seomoz so we can look into the issue for you.

You might also want to try the Crawl Test tool at http://pro.seomoz.org/tools/crawl-test
This tool crawls up-to 3000 pages for any website and I think for PRO you are allowed 2 crawls every day.P.S. At the time of writing this reply, I see my crawls from yesterday and day before are still pending, so there might be something going on with the Roger bot.

When did you add the campaign? You will have some information but not all of the report within a few hours. If not you could always delete the campaign and add it again if you think there is an issue.

What to do with a site of >50,000 pages vs. crawl limit?
What happens if you have a site in your Moz Pro campaign that has more than 50,000 pages? Would it be better to choose a sub-folder of the site to get a thorough look at that sub-folder? I have a few different large government websites that I'm tracking to see how they are fairing in rankings and SEO. They are not my own websites. I want to see how these agencies are doing compared to what the public searches for on technical topics and social issues that the agencies manage. I'm an academic looking at science communication. I am in the process of re-setting up my campaigns to get better data than I have been getting -- I am a newbie to SEO and the campaigns I slapped together a few months ago need to be set up better, such as all on the same day, making sure I've set it to include www or not for what ranks, refining my keywords, etc. I am stumped on what to do about the agency websites being really huge, and what all the options are to get good data in light of the 50,000 page crawl limit. Here is an example of what I mean: To see how EPA is doing in searches related to air quality, ideally I'd track all of EPA's web presence. www.epa.gov has 560,000 pages -- if I put in www.epa.gov for a campaign, what happens with the site having so many more pages than the 50,000 crawl limit? What do I miss out on? Can I "trust" what I get? www.epa.gov/air has only 1450 pages, so if I choose this for what I track in a campaign, the crawl will cover that subfolder completely, and I am getting a complete picture of this air-focused sub-folder ... but (1) I'll miss out on air-related pages in other sub-folders of www.epa.gov, and (2) it seems like I have so much of the 50,000-page crawl limit that I'm not using and could be using. (However, maybe that's not quite true - I'd also be tracking other sites as competitors - e.g. non-profits that advocate in air quality, industry air quality sites - and maybe those competitors count towards the 50,000-page crawl limit and would get me up to the limit? How do the competitors you choose figure into the crawl limit?) Any opinions on which I should do in general on this kind of situation? The small sub-folder vs. the full humongous site vs. is there some other way to go here that I'm not thinking of?

No follow links also been reported in SEOmoz crawl diagnostics
Hi, Why does SEOmoz reports links which has been marked as 'nofollow'. I am getting 'Overly-Dynamic URL' reports on links which I have designated as nofollow which means Google will discount them. So why does SEOmoz still report them. Thanks.

Does Open Site Explorer purposefully not crawl some sites?
I use both SEOmoz's Open Site Explorer and Web Master Tools to find backlinks when conducting link audits. WMT always finds more links than OSE; I understand Google's database is bigger. But what is interesting to me is that it seems that a large percentage of the links WMT finds that OSE does not are real crappy links that I don't want. That makes me wonder if SEOmoz decides not to crawl certain, low quality, sites? Just curious.

Does crawling help in optimisation.?
the website is as it was last week. no optimisation from my side for 10 days now. i was ranked 5 with my keyword not much competition there. however 2 days ago i registrred at seomoz and created a campaign for my website with my keywords that were ranked 5 in search. today i see that my rank has gone up to 2. i have nt done any optimisation neither have ii created any backlinks. so how and why did i climb up? i just created a campaign and let seomoz crawl my website for 2days. am i to assume seomoz crawl optimises website? if that is the case then can i create a campaign crawl pages, climb up in searches, delete the campaign after a week, create it again crawl pages and climb up and so on ? please advise?

SEOMOZ Crawl Test
Guys I really have an issue that i know have but cannot see if that makes sense. Basically 3 months ago i did a site wide 301 from economyleasinguk.co.uk to www.economy-car-leasing.co.uk Every thing looks good get all the correct header responses , all canonicals work perfectly , Google webmaster tools is updated fetch as google bot shows the old site is 301 I tried the seomoz crawl test today on the old domain and got this message Oh no! Looks like the page you were trying to access is temporarily down which at first thought ok because the site was not there it wont do it on an old 301 domain, however i tried it on a domain i know has just been 301'd and i got this message The URL http://www.site1.com/ redirects to http://site2.com/. Do you want to crawl http://site2.com/ instead?

Would you like to:
Continue with www.site1.com
Continue with site2.com I really do not know what to do, its either the redirect script is missing something however its doing what it should or the server is a problem but again its doing what it should so why would SEOMOZ not be able to crawl the old URL like it example site above. Now the strange thing is Open Site Explorer does see the 301 and asks if i want to check the new URL instead Ps the redirect is done using PHP redirect which i am asking him to change to a htaccess as its now on a apache server and was wondering if this could be an issue, all pages go to correct pages as requested Thanks in Advance1 -
