Paying to Remove Links?
-
I emailed a directory asking to have my link removed and they responded that it costs $20.
Does anyone have experience paying to remove links? I would never do this on a mass scale, but for individual links is it worthwhile or a waste of money?

I never pay a single penny to remove the links. I put all these sites in the disavow tool.

Ditto. If you absolutely 100% know the link is bad and it is causing you issues then go for it but a much better and more affordable strategy is building solid links to dilute its impact.
I would tell you we have recently been focused on removing links for several clients and even when we focus on getting the links removed, its not magic pixie dust when they go away. We get significant improvements but we find that it is usually multiple links.....
Hope this helps. Thanks.

In your place I would focus on link diversity using as many different sources as possible so any negative signal a directory brings to the house gets dumbed down over time.

Spam Links
Hi everyone, I've just joined the Moz community and after completing our first site crawl I've discovered that we have approximately 200 links with a spam score of over 50%. Should I just disavow all these links or is their a formula to deciding which links to disavow? Thanks in Advance Steve

Outgoing links
Hi Guy's, We have a website with no outgoing links (only Facebook). Is this a good way to score better in the SERPS? Or is it better to have some outgoing "relevant" links for a natural linkjuice? Thanks!

Is there an extra SEO benefit for linking to pages that link to you?
Currently working on a link-building strategy and have gotten a few mentions. Just curious if there is any SEO benefits of linking back to the pages my site was mentioned and linked on? Would love to hear your thoughts, thanks!

Self linking
There are 10 links on page that point to this page where they exist (link to the page itself). Does it influence on ranking?

Link Value
My question is how valuable is getting a link from a PA 71 with roughly 20 links on it. I guess I am saying how many links from a PA of 30 would be a comparable indicator. I understand there is an almost exponential value of authority as they go higher, but I am looking for a good explanation from a technical aspect. Hypothetical Scenario Would a person be better off pursing 20 links from PA25 pages, or would you be better only getting 1 from the PA71 all things equal.

Should I Pay For Link Removal?
Hi, I'm in the middle of a link removal campaign and getting a lot of replies from site owners asking for payment or directing me to a link which is effectively a payment page. The way I see it is my client is paying me to do their SEO. I'd rather be spending my time and their money building quality links, therefore the link removal process is in my way and requests for payment an insult. However, I am not without sympathy for site owners being expected to remove links free of charge. After all there's absolutely no incentive for them. So far I've had a zero tolerance attitude towards this and refused to pay, but just wondered what everyone else's opinion was. On the other hand, many site owners have been very helpful and removed the links at my request. Is it the right thing for me to remove these domains from my Disavow Links file? I'm finding it to be a bit of a moral conundrum to be honest!

Too many links - How to address without removing them?
Hi, When a page has too many links (over 100) due to the number of monthly blog archives for example, is it possible to use a code (like no index but just for one link) that would prevent Google from counting the link? Or not in which case the only options would be to leave the extra links or to delete them. I do not want to put a no index at the page level but more at link level by preventing SE to follow the least important links but keeping them active for users. Thank you, David
