Adding Extra Domains
-
There are domains available which match exactly to my main keywords which I am trying to rank for. For example my keyword is "Green apple" and there are domains like greenapple.com . Do you think from Google stand point of view it is ok if I buy domains like this and when visitors go to these domains, automatically direct them to my main website?
Thanks

Hi Fredrico,
Thank you so very much. It answered my question completely

If you just do a 301 of the entire domain then you are completely safe.
However, if you decide to go another route and build a landing page, specifically designed to target those keywords then the page will be penalized as a backdoor page + it could take a hit on EMD too.
For example, take a big brand: Apple.
www.itunes.com -> http://www.apple.com/itunes/
www.iphone.com -> http://www.apple.com/iphone/
All redirect to their main domain: apple.com
*It must be a 301 redirect of the entire domain. Which then gives me the following question: keyword reach domains aren't worth it, branded domains are. You don't see www.cellphone.com redirecting to apple or any other cell phone brand page, instead, they get their branded domains, in this example: iphone.com, itunes.com, mac.com, ipad.com, etc. People isn't going to look for a keyword reach domain, instead if they enter in their address bar "green apple" their browser will perform a search for those keywords on Google, Bing or whatever browser they have, which will NOT return your keyword reach domain as it is actually nor indexed by Google as it is just a redirection.
To sum up, branded domains = Perfect. Keyword rich domains = spending money.

Hi Fredrico,
Many thanks for your response. But I think the other question that you directed me is a little bit different than my question. My concern is if I purchase a few keyword-rich domains and link them to my website, in the eye of Google it is like a duplication or even scam. I am looking for to see if Google cares about this.
Thanks

Buying domains for the backlink profile: Still a white hat strategy?
There's a DR 51 domain we'd like to buy, with a quality backlink profile. We'd like to 301 redirect this domain to our DR 46 domain, and possibly setup something to make the user experience smooth for people expecting the old domain. Is this still a white hat strategy? How would you calculate the value/what kind of offer to make?

Can a domain name alone be considered SPAM?
If someone has a domain that is spammy, such as "http://seattlesbestinsurancerates.com" can this cause Google to not index the website? This is not our domain, but a customer of ours has a similar one and it appears to be causing issues! Any thoughts? Thanks for any input!

Getting a link from an internal page with PR 2 of a domain with PR 5 is how much effective?
My website got a link from an internal page with PR rank of 2 but the domain has the PR rank 5. For example - A domain www.example.com with PR rank 5 and internal page www.example.com/extra/1 PR rank 2. I got a link from the internal page, will I benefit from main domain Page rank 5? Thanks, Sameer

Owning multiple domains across similar fields
We have a printing website specializing in a single field but had added other products to it along the way, we are looking at adding a second site (redesigned from the ground up) that with cover everything (so will inevitably cover some of the same keywords) is this ok. We are considering some of the other things such as putting both sites on different IP's and also wondered about the registration details (would it be ok to have them under the same company?). Just to make it clear they will not be used for cross link or any other such things so just wanting to know if they could end up on page one for some of the same keywords and Google would be ok with this. Thank you for your time.

301 redirect from an unwanted non-affiliated domain
Hey everyone, Our site was hit with an unnatural link penalty a few weeks ago, and it looks very much like a malicious link attack. We've never participated in any link schemes or anything resembling black hat link building. In fact, we've barely even done any link building. Reviewing our backlink profile, there are hundreds of links from just a few (very dodgy) domains that we have no control over, and we've have had no luck when contacting webmasters to get them removed. More importantly, we've seen several domains which 301 redirect straight to our domain. We don't know who they are and they're not contactable. I believe that the redirect means they're passing link value from all of their terrible links to us? How can we get the redirects removed, as at worst they're really harming us, and at best, they're adding no value. Thanks

Can you block backlinks from another domain
Wondering if this is somehow possible. A site got hacked and created a /data folder with hundreds of .php files that are web pages selling all sorts of stuff. We deleted the /data folder and blocked Google from indexing it. Just noticed in Webmaster Tools that the site has 35,000 backlinks from other sites that got hacked with the same way. Is there a way to block these sites? I am assuming there isn't, but wanted to see if anyone ran into the same problem. It is a wordpress site is that helps.

Auto-link inside your own site to the same domain is white-hat?
Hi, I am using a plugin in wordpress that make auto link for some certain keywords in my site suppose: My site is example.com My important keyword is: sample and across the domain example.com through out the content if there is the word: sample it is linked automatically to example.com I like your opinion about this practice, if it may carry any kind of punishment by SEs? Thanks.

New website :301 redirection of a established domain
Hello , I am launching a new website which would host user generated content . Based on my brandname i have purchased a new domain . In order to improve SEO rankings i was considering to purchase a good quality domain (have gr8 link backs) and then perform 301 redirection of the domain to the new brandname.co.in domain . Does this work ? Is there any harm in doing this ? . Does the Link juice pass naturally ? Warm Rgd
