Does MOZ do more than report after report?
-
Does MOZ do more than churn out report after report? I do appreciate the useful information about my keyword rankings and from the crawls - the report cards are great too. But I need my site analyzed. I need to know what about my blog as a whole is wrong. I did very well with google traffic until the summer when my traffic plummeted overnight due to a Google Panda update/tweak.
I have been working really hard and I know I am doing the right things (I got 28K unique visitors this past month and people are sticking around) but I still get basically no organic traffic. Is there a feature in Moz that can tell me what is broken? Like an SEO Audit? I feel that there are things I am missing that are more technical and I don't know how to find out what they are.
-
I would prefer to share your blog URL over here and I believe me and some other folks will help you do the basic audit and indicate you where the problem is!
hope this helps!
-
Thanks. Articles and message boards around the time my blog lost organic traffic overnight talked about a google panda update.
I have looked at SEO websites but my blog is too small to pay $500 or more for some help.
I do have some 404 errors to fix. I am working on that too. But i don't think it's big enough of a problem to cause me to get no organic traffic.
I know I have work to do but it feels hopeless at this point since six months of work has not improved anything.

Yes I realize that. That is my problem. I am not ranking on the first page and nothing is improving my rankings. I do keyword research but it is not as simple as that.

Nick I believe it is difficult to say if you website is actually attacked my panda or penguin update or it is something else if you didn’t get any notice from Google in Google Webmaster tool. I would prefer you to check the date when you traffic was gone in a day and then compare it with the Google Panda and Penguin updates. If the date of traffic is around the date of the update release then you probably are the victim of Google Panda or Penguin.
I don’t think Moz tool can analyze this automatically!!
On the other hand I would recommend you to give a close look to reports (especially error reports) that Moz sends you every week and see where the errors are in your website and fix it accordingly. Probably this will help you building and maintaining a bug free blog and this may also help you gain better rankings in Google.
But..
If you think you are doing all things right and still getting no organic traffic then you probably should go for any SEO Expert that do website analysis and he will be able to tell you what is wrong with your blog as a whole and why organic traffic is not coming to your website.
Hope this helps!!

Any keyword that isn't on the main page is going to be really hard to get traffic from. Think of the last time you went to the 50th page in google and clicked on something? It doesn't happen. The trick is to do keyword research and find long tail keywords that you can rank for. Do you mind sharing which website we're talking about?

My blog is not even a year old. It was ranking very well at first because I was getting awesome (authentic) backlinks. I have no sketchy backlinks that I know if and I check open explorer all the time as well as google webmasters. I have no manual actions in webmasters. I think the problem was thin content and maybe affiliate links.
1. I am now using a plugin to make external links nofollow with some exceptions.
2. As far as thin content, some of my earlier posts was very short due to the nature of my blog. They are still very useful to my readers but under 300 words. I am using a word count plugin to slowly noindex the older, short posts. I just started that and it's time consuming.
I rank # 1 for one keyword that doesn't give me much traffic and a few others above the 50th spot but I get no traffic. Most I do not rank for at all. I feel like I was blacklisted.
I am increasing my Facebook likes and pinterest followers but haven't focused on twitter yet. My newsletter is growing. I have written 2 guest posts with original content for the top blog in my genre. I am doing other good things but I won't bore you.
Nothing helps.

Howdy,
I'm sorry to hear about your traffic drop! Have you corrected the issues that caused the original traffic drop? Mainly removing the sketchy backlinks and content that got you in trouble in the first place? It's hard to get google traffic when you're on their bad-list. Are you tracking keywords with MOZ? How are you ranking for the keywords that are important to your niche? If I were you I would concentrate on some keywords I thought I could realistically get into the number 1-5# spot on google with and see if that helps. What about social pages and mentions? Are you tracking those with MOZ? The strong suite of MOZ in my opinion is that it puts all the main things any SEO pro would want to track in one spot.
Best of luck,
-Nick

Moz crawl
Hi, 1. Is there any way to get the moz crawl to analyse any site like the website auditor tool in seo powersuite on command. It would be good to see what keyword my competitors are using. would also like to analyse my site when i have corrected errors on command. 2. Is google adwords keyword tool still the best keyword research tool? I Don't see anything in the newbie guides to the moz pro tool regarding keyword research. Thanks! David.

Moz shows page has no meta description but it does
Hi We recently worked on optimising one of our product pages, we created a new meta description, new unique content and a ensured it was optimised for our keyword. Despite all of this its ranking is still significantly lower than competitors eventhough the page authority is as good as theirs. I have just noticed that Moz crawl diagnostics is showing it up as having no meta description - but it does! when you check the source you see:http-equiv="description" content="Buy the robust and reliable Canon imageRUNNER 2525 from Copyfaxes. Learn more about the Canon 2525 before you buy." /> The page is: http://copyfaxes.com/product/2552/Canon-ImageRunner-2525-Digital-Copier I would appreciate any ideas.

Where aren't on page reports generated for all of my keywords?
I have 39 targetted keywords, yet only 10 on-page reports are generated. My site has about 100 pages. Why don't I see reports for all of my pages?

My report is showing duplicate titles.. for http://www.mysite.com/ & http://mysite.com
Is this because I setup my campaign wrong in seo moz or should I have my site setup differently to forward all traffic without the www to the www version? Or vise versa? Thanks for any advice!

Too Many Internal Links Reported By SEOmoz
Hi, I recently did run a crawl report for my blog dapazze.com, and found that SEOmoz is reporting many pages on my blog having more than 100 internal links. I opened OSE, and made a search for one of my pages which was reported to contain more than 100 links. And I found it to contain 464 internal links. Here is the link: http://www.opensiteexplorer.org/links?page=1&site=dapazze.com%2F2012%2F10%2Fwin-a-commentluv-premium-single-site-and-multi-site-license-worth-about-154-giveaway-of-october%2F&sort=page_authority&filter=&source=internal&target=page&group=0 Please have a look at it. I have chosen - Show "All" links from "only internal" pages to "this page" option in OSE, which reports me this. I see almost every page in my blog linking to every page. This is not the problem for me. I have also tried to make a search for some popular bloggers, like ProBlogger.net, ShoutMeLoud.com, HellBoundBloggers.com, etc, and all of them have the same problem. Should I be worrying about this problem? What is the problem actually?

Is reported duplication on the pages or their canonical pages?
There are several sections getting flagged for duplication on one of our sites: http://mysite.com/section-1/?something=X&confirmed=true
On-Page Optimization | | Safelincs
http://mysite.com/section-2/?something=X&confirmed=true
http://mysite.com/section-3/?something=X&confirmed=true Each of the above are showing as having duplicates of the other sections. Indeed, these pages are exactly the same (it's just an SMS confirmation page you enter your code in), however, they all have canonical links back to the section (without the query string), i.e. section-1, section-2 and section-3 respectively. These three sections have unique content and aren't flagged up for duplications themselves, so my questions are: Are the pages with the query strings the duplicates, and if so why are the canonical links being ignored? or Are the canonical pages without the query strings the duplicates, and if so why don't they appear as URLs in their own right in the duplicate content report? I am guessing it's the former, but I can't figure out why it would ignore the canonical links. Any ideas? Thanks0 -
How woud you deal with Blog TAGS & CATEGORY listings that are marked a 'duplicate content' in SEOmoz campaign reports?
We're seeing "Duplicate Content" warnings / errors in some of our clients' sites for blog / event calendar tags and category listings. For example the link to http://www.aavawhistlerhotel.com/news/?category=1098 provides all event listings tagged to the category "Whistler Events". The Meta Title and Meta Description for the "Whistler Events" category is the same as another other category listing. We use Umbraco, a .NET CMS, and we're working on adding some custom programming within Umbraco to develop a unique Meta Title and Meta Description for each page using the tag and/or category and post date in each Meta field to make it more "unique". But my question is .... in the REAL WORLD will taking the time to create this programming really positively impact our overall site performance? I understand that while Google, BING, etc are constantly tweaking their algorithms as of now having duplicate content primarily means that this content won't get indexed and there won't be any really 'fatal' penalties for having this content on our site. If we don't find a way to generate unique Meta Titles and Meta Descriptions we could 'no-follow' these links (for tag and category pages) or just not use these within our blogs. I am confused about this. Any insight others have about this and recommendations on what action you would take is greatly appreciated.
