Blog Commenting - Useful?
-
How useful are you finding blog commenting to be regarding link building? I was having a discussion with someone about this today, and I thought some input from the Moz community may be helpful.
How helpful do you find blog commenting to be in link building?
Do you have any evidence of effectiveness/ineffectiveness?
Is it something you still currently do (for link building)?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks guys!

If you’re doing blog commenting for the sole purpose for gaining thinks than you should stop. This is just spam and does not contribute to anything.
Now, commenting on blogs can be a really good way to connect with other people in your industry and get your name out there. This also works well if you want to become a guest blogger on a site. Start commenting on their blogs with useful insights and you can gain a personal relationship with them. Other people might also start following your blog because of your helpful / informational comments.

Blog commenting is not a direct approach to a link. In other words majority of comments you make will allow you to place a link as your name (tip: use your name or company name), This is usually a no follow link which does not count for SEO. However, if you build relationships with other by commenting/contributing (adding value) on their posts (make them your friends) and interacting with them you can earn good quality links and mentions to your site/articles.
If you read an article and you disagree with it or want to add a bunch more value to it, you can write a post on your blog and in the comments of the article you want to contribute to you can leave that link. Although it's a no-follow link it adds value to the user and they are more likely to share it or link to it.

Website has a barrage of comment backlinks from 2011
When Google rolled out Panda and Penguin, I assume these links have been discounted and any site punishment has already happened. The website is performing well, however, just recently these comment backlinks have started popping up again as "new" backlinks on Ahrefs. Being "newly-found", will this have a negative impact on the website? Should we be worried about these and start disavowing or is it OK to ignore them? Thanks.

Blog's Homepage isn't indexed even though posts are
My blog http://www.cleanedison.com/blog/ doesn't seem to be indexed by Google even though my posts seem to get indexed within a day or so. Is this not necessarily a bad thing? I feel like it would be nice to search "CleanEdison Blog" and get the homepage. The robots say: name="robots" content="noodp, noydir, noarchive" /> Is there anything I can do? P.S. My posts that get picked up by larger entities generally get ranked lower than the offshoot even though I have a rel="canonical" tag. Anything I can do there?

Blog traffic / link ratio? (Esimated of how much traffic will result in a link)
Hi, Was wondering if people could please tell me some estimates of how much traffic is likely to gain links to a blog post? For example 1,000 hits = 1 link, Hence 10,000 hits = 10 links to a blog post? I understand there is no magic ratio I just want to know what people have achieved. I’m after averages not just a one off really successful blog post too. Please specify the topic you achieve this in e.g. SEO, photography, business, heath... etc.

Any benefit to others' links in my blog comments?
I recently started a blog for my client. So far the response has been decent but, as should probably be expected, most of the commenters want to put a link to their own site in the comment. Do I have anything to gain by allowing these comments to stay on the page?

How do I distribute blog content?
Morning Mozzers! I work for an online wedding retailer and we add new, unique, high quality content to our blogs on a daily basis. After adding the new content we Tweet it and mention it on our Facebbok page. My question is this: how can I distribute the content to generate back links? Any example sites or case studies of things you guys have done in the past would be great! Thanks in advance.
