Testing Google Tag Manager
-
Is there a way to test if the Google Tag Manager is set up correctly? Am I right in thinking that the only code that will be output on the page will be the actual embed code, eg:
SCRIPT REMOVED
Cant work out if there is an issue with what has been set in the account of if there is a problem with how the code has been added to the page..

I had the same question. After some digging. I found the tag assistant plug in for chrome. It checks the site and lets you know if it is working properly. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/tag-assistant-by-google/kejbdjndbnbjgmefkgdddjlbokphdefk?hl=en
On a side note the script should be right after the body tag; unless you are adding datalabel scripts (I am still wrapping my head around.)

Err.. not really :s

What are the best practices for server-side A/B testing?
When performing a full-site server-side A/B test, what best practices should you follow to ensure that you're: not cloaking or at least not being shady only showing Google (and other search engines) the version you want them to see (i.e. not the test pages) Thanks in advance!

Google Experiments issues
Hey fellow Mozzers! We're in the middle of working on CRO for a client of ours and we were going to try out Google Experiments for the first time. Following the click path described on the Google help page should take me to an option that says 'Create Experiment', but this isn't coming up - do we need to create the various URLs before it will let us set up an experiment, or has the system changed now? I've found in the past Google has a habit of updating its interfaces but not the advice on using the affected tools, so wondering if I'm looking at old information? Secondly, does the Experiment show a user the same variation of the page throughout their journey? What I mean by that is: their site currently has a real mish-mash of page styles, and I think a large part of boosting their conversions is probably down to ensuring consistency across the site as it currently seems like you're bouncing around different sites. But will this issue be made worse by running Experiments - ie, will I enter the site on Variation A, click a link and be shown the next page in Variation B and so on? If so, are we better off running the experiment on one page at a time and using what we've learnt to impact the next page? Thank for any help you can give! Nick.

Google Product Ads - Improving our Cost Per Conversion?
Hi all, We have been running Google Product Ads (paid for) ever since it began in the UK. We are still struggling to get to grips with the best way to make it worthwhile for us. Our data for the last 14 days:
Conversion Rate Optimization | | complete_outdoors
Clicks: 1827
Impressions: 65789
CTR: 2.78%
Average CPC: £0.22
Cost Per Conversion: £15.13 We've added some auto targets for our most popular brands, with a higher CPC than "all products". We've also added negative keywords so we only come up with relevant searches. Basically, what we'd like to know is: how we can best set-up our product ads to reduce our Cost Per Conversion (I guess everyone would like to do that!), as it is barely worth us using it currently. If you require any further data to help answer my question, please ask. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.0 -
Rich Snippets not showing up in Google
Hello everyone, Can anyone figure out why my Rich Snippets aren't showing up in Google searches: Their webmaster tool displays it perfectly, but I never see it in search results: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cleanedison.com%2Fcourses%2Fbpi-building-analyst-envelope-shell-combo%2F Perhaps it's only my IP? Any insight would be great. Thanks

How much time is enough to test?
I am not an adwords expert but this is is the strategy I am following: 1. I create an adgroup for each set of keywords that will target the same ad. 2, I set the bid high to appear first. 3. After 3 to 5 days I remove the ones with low CTR over the impressions, anything below 1%. For example: for this url: http://www.theprinterdepo.com/hp-laser-4250-printer-q5400a-r I created an AD, and initially I put 10 keywords, after one week I had wasted a lot of money, after 4 days I deleted 7 keywords, and after 8 days, I left only one keyword with a very good CTR of almost 3% and conversion rate of 4%. The question is: how much is enough time to test and remove keywords? is one day of data good enough? Should I make this test with the highest bid possible? Should I keep the high bid forever?? 11 dollars for one click seems pretty expensive for one printer of 200 dollars when converted. Does position 1 guarantee more conversions? Maybe as long as it appears on the first 5 or 6 then its enough so I can decrease bid?

Analytics (Other Than Google) & A/B Testing Tools
Hey, I have Google Analytics on my website, like most people, but I was looking at some other analytics and testing tools like heat maps, click maps, A/B, etc. I was hoping that some of you could recommend a few that you use to see where pages are going wrong, track user behaviour and to how improve conversion rate. I have had a look at a few websites like: https://www.clicktale.com/

Capital Letters in Title Tag, or not?
Hello there! A Google-AdWords-guy call me for give me advice about how to optimize my last campaign in google Adwords. He told me to “Capitalize Each KeyWord of the Title” of the ad to catch the attention of the users in it. Does it make sense to apply this “rule” in the title tags? Does Google interpret this like “hey, you are trying to manipulate the SERP click-through! You are cheating, now go down in the SERP!”. Do you think this rule works also for the tweets? Ok, I hope I’ve been clear enough to expose my issue. Any comment, advice, test or experience that you share about this is appreciated. Thank you! — YESdesign team —
