Product titles
-
Hi guys,
I'm starting to sell sofas and furniture online in Australia.
Many USA companies just use the key ranking words as the Product Title i.e. "Ultra -Modern black leather sectional sofa with bookcase". Even if they have 100s of products.
But in Australia they just use the model name, such as "The York", "The Boston", etc. Cause it does create a nicer picture and a neater look on the main page.
I was wondering how important this practice is in improving search ranking? is it spammy?
Thanks

I would definitely go for a combination of descriptive for users and descriptive for bots, in that you're not losing valuable real estate in your title tags but you're not misleading anyone as to what is on the page. In general, you can create very well-optimised titles for SEO purposes without compromising usability - a title tag that simply reads "The Boston" isn't nearly as user-friendly as a title that says (for instance) "Modern black leather sectional Boston sofa with bookcase" (totally made up example using your title from above). The second is better for SEO and for human users - it's actually remarkably common how those two things are one in the same, given that Google wants to return results that are best for users

Hi
I would always recommend going with more description titles, as well as good for the bots, its also good from a user experience point of view, they can see more about the product before click 'The York' doesn't really tell the customer a great deal.
On a side note, and this is my opinion. The US is leading the way with SEO follow by the UK, but some parts of the world still don't fully grasp SEO and the impacts it can have - I don't know anything about Australia market, but it could be the fact that many website owners still don't think to much about SEO - and by you optimising you could get a great lead on your competitors.

A clever design team can help neaten up the look, but I would try better descriptive text for product titles if possible without going overboard and keyword stuffing.

Yes, in product titles. Thanks for your help.

DoDpi you mean on page product titles?
it may look nicer, but you loose keyword real estate. Where possible, I would still look to use keywords.

Hi All, I was just wondering if anyone had come across this problem before - We are a recruitment agency so we have multiple of the same jobs at the same time, so we're looking into ways to differentiate and change it but we've got the same Duplicate Titles - has anyone faced this problem before? And if so what did they do? Thanks in advance!

Is the URL Matching the Page Title Important?
Hello I have tried searching for an answer on this but I can't get a clear answer due to the results when searching for URL title. I have just launched our second Shopify site for one of our brands. My first site launched in 2014 but when I launched I didn't pay much heed to SEO for page titles, URLs, etc so have retrospectively fixed this over time. For my Shopify site just launching I want to get it as right as possible from the start (learning from mistakes). My question is regarding URLs and what my approach should be for better SEO. So, I have a page with a Title of Newton Leather Wallets, Purses, Card Holders & Glasses Cases and the URL is https://www.tumbleandhide.com/collections/newton-leather-wallets-card-holders It was my understanding that I should try and make the URL reflect the Page Title more accurately. The problem is that this takes the character count to 77. On other pages it can be in the 80s. Will the above link be better for SEO than say just https://www.tumbleandhide.com/collections/newton I am just wary of the URL's being too long as my Moz Site Crawl is returning a lot of URLs that are too long. Thanks in Advance.

Duplicate page titles and Content in Woocommerce
Hi Guys, I'm new to Moz and really liking it so far!
On-Page Optimization | | jeeyer
I run a eCommerce site on Wordpress + WooCommerce and ofcourse use Yoast for SEO optimalisation I've got a question about my first Crawl report which showed over 600 issues! 😐 I've read that this is something that happens more often (http://moz.com/blog/setup-wordpress-for-seo-success). Most of them are categorized under:
1. Duplicate Page Titles or;
2. Duplicate Page Content. Duplicate Page Titles:
These are almost only: product category pages and product tags. Is this problem beeing solved by giving them the right SEO SERP? I see that a lot of categories don't have a proper SEO SERP set up in yoast! Do I need to add this to clear this issue, or do I need to change the actual Title? And how about the Product tags? Another point (bit more off-topic) I've read here: http://moz.com/community/q/yoast-seo-plugin-to-index-or-not-to-index-categories that it's advised to noindex/follow Categories and Tags but isn't that a wierd idea to do for a eCommerce site?! Duplicate Page Content:
Same goes here almost only Product Categories and product tags that are displayed as duplicate Page content! When I check the results I can click on a blue button for example "+ 17 duplicates" and that shows me (in this case 17 URLS) but they are not related to the fist in any way so not sure where to start here? Thanks for taking the time to help out!

Title Tag issue
Hello, This is a weird one. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. A couple months ago, we updated trinitypower.com and it was back then that I first noticed this issue, but because the home page title tag was okay and contained the primary terms for that page, I told myself I would circle back. The problem is that even though Google crawls the site everyday, it does not update the title tag text in it's index. Google: "Trinity Power Rentals" and you will see the title in the index as "Trinity Power: Temporary Power Rentals". Go to trinitypower.com and view source. You will see the title tag in the code as "Temporary Power Rentals - Trinity Power" The desc tag has been updated correctly, but I can't figure out why not the Title tag. You can look at the cache version in the index of Google. It is showing the latest version of that tag, so I really do not understand what has happened here. I am using WP Super Cache... maybe a conflict with that? I have dumped it's cache numerous times though. Please let me know what you think. Thanks, Jarrett

Title tag length
Hi, I am fairly new to SEO and have just noticed the end of my title text has been cut off by Google in the serps results. Everything i have read tells me titles should be maximum of 70 characters, however, Google is only displaying 54. See below Security systems | wireless | battery powered | Police... Nobody else on the page is showing more than 54 characters. Am i missing something obvious? Any and all help gratefully appreciated. Thanks Si

Issues with Product Pages Getting Index In Google
I just started working here the other week and one of the big issue is that a lot of the product pages are not getting index in google. We have an xml.gz site map they submitted a long time ago. My guess is it might be something with not enough content on the pages? Here are a few example of pages that are not getting index in google. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/43/-/439/716/-/33097/Alpinestars-Dual-Motorcycle-Gloves http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/47/-/201/803/-/28948/Camelbak-Blowfish-2013 http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/46/-/203/836/-/6996/MSR-Head-Case http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/44/54/208/764/80/1220/Galfer-Brake-Pad-Sintered-Metal There are 100's that are not indexed just trying to figure out what we need to do! We are working on new content to them all but we have over 5000 products so it will take a long time. We also have the reviews on the pages and are looking at starting a Q&A on page to help get more unique content.

Using a more relevant brand title for blog
I'm a newbee here so I appologize in advance for asking a question that might already be aswered ( i looked I promise). The question is this, I've been fiddling with the title tags and came upon the need to make a decision about separating our blog brand to be more specific to it's content. We're a moving company, our primary website talks about services and is branded with our name (%page_name% | 2 Brothers Moving & Delivery Portland Oregon), our blog is a work in progress "Moving Guide" (%post_title% | Portland Moving Guide). Should I stick with the standard brand name on the blog or call it something keyword specific like above? As a side question what do you all think about my titles in the first place? In case you'd like to take a look: www.2brothersmoving.net www.2brothersmoving.net/blog
