Cannonical Links?
-
Hi guys,
I recently started using Moz Analytics's for my site and it has told me that the vast majority (perhaps all) of my pages have duplicate content because Google will be indexing the version both with and without www. in front of it as seperate domains.
I've done some research and have come across a few suggestions of what to do, but i'm not sure which to go with or how to actually implement it.
Any help, advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Bingo.
Good way to do it.

Hiya,
I recommend the following resource - https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/93633
it has some great guides on doing 301 redirects, you should also look into the preferred domain section. Other thing that can help are canonical links to www.
it all depends on your system and what you are comfortable with, i'm sure we can help you if you get a bit lost!
This response was more in depth but Moz decided to block the response!
Best of luck!

Hi Sam,
The best way to deal with this is to setup 301 redirecting in your .htaccess file, but this depends upon the platform you are using. You want to point all non-www pages to the www versions.
Something like this should do the job for you (replace my domain with yours).
//Rewrite to www
Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^inetseo.co.uk[nc]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.inetseo.co.uk/$1 [r=301,nc]-Andy

How do I find links on my site
I'm looking to find a certain type of link on my site. A link that we're directing out of the site. We have a lot of subdomains though and I was wondering if there was a way to find all the links on each subdomain without screaming frog them all?

How Am I Linked to These Sites?
I was going through Google Analytics, specifically looking at the Channels under Acquisition. I found a number of sites that Google is giving credit as sources of traffic.
Reporting & Analytics | | TowerMarketing
When I went to the sites, however, and searched the page source for links to my site, I could not find any. My site is www.towermarketing.net. The sites being listed by GA are:
blackhawkhardware.com
musicas.baixar-musicas-gratis.com If anyone can tell me how Tower is getting traffic from these sites, and what I can do to fix it - because at this point I am considering them spam - I would appreciate it. Thanks!0 -

Problem with Enhanced Link Attribution
I set up Enhanced Link Attribution yestarday on two my websites, but it still doesn´t work. When I look at numbers of clicks at In-page analytics I see the same numbers of clicks for example on heading, read more button, thumbail of blogposts - so it doesn´t work. My GA code: <script type="<a class="attribute-value">text/javascript</a>"> var _gaq = _gaq || []; var pluginUrl = '//www.google-analytics.com/plugins/ga/inpage_linkid.js'; _gaq.push(['_require', 'inpage_linkid', pluginUrl]); _gaq.push(['_setAccount', 'XXXX']); _gaq.push(['_trackPageview']); (function() { var ga = document.createElement('script'); ga.type = 'text/javascript'; ga.async = true; ga.src = ('https:' == document.location.protocol ? 'https://ssl' : 'http://www') + '.google-analytics.com/ga.js'; var s = document.getElementsByTagName('script')[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(ga, s); })(); script> Could you help me? thanks 🙂

Removing Bad Links, Bad?
Our situation is this.. We recently went through a major redesign that included a significant change in content and URL structure. This of course cause a significant increase in 404 from our search traffic. In an effort to minimize those 404s we requested that Google remove certain URL directories from their index. Doing this resulted in a 90% drop in the number of impressions we were getting from search. My question is this, is it better to allow the 404s with a good landing page that explains the changes or better to remove the bad urls? Much thanks...

Link Analysis Past 6 Months
I'm analyzing inbound links for a site and I was wondering if there is a way to see how many of the links were created in a certain time period? Example how many inbound links were sent to this sub domain during the past 6 months? I would think there would be a fairly simple way to do this, but not sure. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Problem when searching for "link:www.mysite.com" vs "link: www.mysite.com"
Why does a search for "link:www.mysite.com" show no results, but when there is a space before www.mysite.com it shows results? The same happens for "link:www.mysite.com" (nothing shows up), but when I search for "link:www.mysite.com/index.php" it returns results. Is there a problem I am missing? Thanks so much!
