Site: inurl: Search
-
I have a site that allows for multiple filter options and some of these URL's have these have been indexed. I am in the process of adding the noindex, nofollow meta tag to these pages but I want to have an idea of how many of these URL's have been indexed so I can monitor when these have been re crawled and dropped. The structure for these URL's is:
http://www.example.co.uk/category/women/shopby/brand1--brand2.html
The unique identifier for the multiple filtered URL's is --, however I've tried using site:example.co.uk inurl:-- but this doesn't seem to work. I have also tried using regex but still no success. I was wondering if there is a way around this so I can get a rough idea of how many of these URL's have been indexed?
Thanks

Thumbed up for being a great response! Wish I had thought of that.

If you can't find an advanced search operator to find what you need through Google Search, here is an alternate method to achieve the list of URLs you're looking for:
1. Access the site's Google Analytics account
2. Go to Reporting > Acquisition > Channels
3. Select the 'Organic Search' channel
4. Set the 'Primary Dimension' to 'Landing Page'
5. Export all of the Landing Pages that received visits through Organic Search
These are all the pages, that GA was tracking, that received a visitor from a search engine. They may not be all that are indexed, but these are the ones that may be most important since they actually attracted a visit from an organic search.
6. In Excel you can use a variety of methods to find the landing pages with double hyphens, it should be as simple as a Ctrl+F .. now plop the URLs you need to track into a clean sheet and use your favorite tool to see when they drop from the search engines.

Hi Samuel,
Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately we're unable to amend this part of the URL's as this is currently generated trough a module we're using. The process we were looking to use is to add noindex, nofollow to the multiple filtered URL's and once these had been dropped append the URL's with something along the lines of ?multifilter so we could then add this to the robots.txt.
Do you think it might be worth appending the URL's with ?multifilter first and then using the site: inurl: process?
Thanks

A double hyphen may too subtle of an element in a URL for Google to "pick up." I would try changing the unique identifier to a special word or a short series of numbers. Then, I would think that your site: inurl: process would work.

Redirecting an Entire Site to a Page on Another Site?
So I have a site that I want to shut down http://vowrenewalsmaui.com and redirect to a dedicated Vow Renewals page I am making on this site here: https://simplemauiwedding.net. My main question is: I don't want to lose all the authority of the pages and if I just redirect the site using my domain registrar's 301 redirect it will only redirect the main URL not all of the supporting pages, to my knowledge. How do I not lose all the authority of the supporting pages and still shut down the site and close down my site builder? I know if I leave the site up I can redirect all of the individual pages to corresponding pages on the other site, but I want to be done with it. Just trying to figure out if there is a better way than I know of. The domain is hosted through GoDaddy.

Link Juice + Site Structure
Hi All, I have attached a simple website model.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Mark_Ch
Page A is the home page attracting 1000 visitors per month.
One click away is Page B with 400 visitors per month, so on and so forth. You get an idea of the flow and clicks required to get to various pages. I have purposely placed Pages E-G to be 3 clicks away as they yield very little traffic. 1] Is this the best way to distribute link juice?
2] Should I point Pages C + D back to page A to influence its Page Rank (PA) Any other useful advice would be appreciated. Thanks Mark vafnchI0 -
Site not progressing at all....
We relaunched our site almost a year ago after our old site dropped out of ranking due to what we think was overused anchor text.... We transferred over the content to the new site, but started fresh in terms of links etc. And did not redirect the old site. Since the launch we have focused on producing good content and social, but the site has made no progress at all. The only factor I can think off is that one site linked to us from all of their pages, which we asked them to remove which they did over 3 months ago, but still showing in Webmaster tools.... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Are Their Any SEO Dangers When Cleaning Up a Site
I'm doing some housekeeping on my website. Removing old blogs that are out of date (2008) or things have moved on. The blogs I'm removing are being 301'd to relevant newer blogs. Can this type of clean up cause any problems that affect the optimisation of a site? Looking forward to hearing your views. Christina

How to identify 404 that get links from external sites (but not search engines)?
one of our site had a poor site architecture causing now about 10.000s of 404 being currently reported in google webmaster tools. Any idea about easily detecting among these thousands of 404, which ones are coming from links from external websites (so filtering out 404 caused by links from our own domain and 404 from search engines)? crawl bandwidth seems to be an issue on this domain. Anything that can be done to accelerate google removing these 404 pages from their index? Due to number of 404 manual submission in google wbt one by one is not an option.

Or do you believe that google automatically will stop crawling these 404 pages within a month or so and no action needs to be taken? thanks0 -

How do Google Site Search pages rank
We have started using Google Site Search (via an XML feed from Google) to power our search engines. So we have a whole load of pages we could link to of the format /search?q=keyword, and we are considering doing away with our more traditional category listing pages (e.g. /biology - not powered by GSS) which account for much of our current natural search landing pages. My question is would the GoogleBot treat these search pages any differently? My fear is it would somehow see them as duplicate search results and downgrade their links. However, since we are coding the XML from GSS into our own HTML format, it may not even be able to tell.
