Is anyone else getting this search result?
-
One of our blog posts (http://dress.yournextshoes.com/celebrities-dresses-skirts-wind/) used to rank well for "windy skirt", but we're not ranking anymore. When I search for "windy skirt", all the top 10 results are Youtube videos. Is anyone else seeing this?
-
Your page is not optimized at all for "windy skirt", so there is no reason for Google to rank it for that search.
Reoptimize the page if this is your target, although I doubt there is much traffic to be had for this term. There is nothing on the web for this keyword phrase, so they are showing the most relevant results, which is not much in this case.

We have noindexed all the category pages. This blog post features pictures of 21 different celebrities, so that by itself are 21 different categories. All our categories are listed at

If they are category pages, then yes, I would move them. However, there seem to be an awful lot there. Probably more category pages than I have seen on a blog. I would be looking to change this, if it were mine, and present it in a usable format, rather than lots of links like this. There also appear to be different links on each page, that doesn't show consistency with the categories on offer.
I also couldn't find these categories from the menu structure anywhere?

Hi Andy,
Do you mean the links to the category pages? I think they're helpful for readers who want to explore further. Perhaps we should move them to the bottom of the page?
-
Wow! That's a lot of link on that page! I would start by removing all those and replacing them with more content. There is no doubt that will be causing you issues.

I have no idea when this happened, but Google certainly is not providing a good search experience for this query. Imagine if there was a way to reach out to Google about this. Now that would be something.
-
Thanks a lot for checking. We do not rank at all, not even within the top 50 results. Our writer spent a lot of time researching the blog post, and we had to pay dearly for the celebrity images.
-
yes I get exactly the same when i search for 'windy skirt', all youtube videos. Is this something which has happened recently. Did there used to be many youtube videos. Where do you rank now. Almost all of page two is also Youtube video's as well.

Can anyone suggest a AHREF's alternative?
Hello Everyone,
Competitive Research | | Juratovic
Now that AHref's has killed their keyword analysis I am on the search for a substitute.I just can't see paying $80 per month for their link analysis only even-though I do find their link index to be much much much more updated then any other company even SeoMoz (sorry Rand and company). Does anyone have any suggestions? SemRush is the only one I have seen to come close. Thank you! Pete0 -

What sould I focus on to get over the top of my competors ?
Ok, I've been on this site for approximately one week now. There is a lot of good information but quite honestly, I don't know where to shoot at first in getting a better ranking against my competitors I have done pretty much everything on my web site to optimize, but I don't get at all the ranking close to my competition. They don't have as much content as we have other than they have been doing SEO for much longer time. I have worked a lot on the content optimization of our site, I get pretty much good result on some of the keywords, registered my site to google, bing , yahoo, I'm using the site map, configured the robot.txt, on-page metatag, URL canonical, clean-ur, H1 H2 tags, etc etc. Ho, And I just got today the approval of Yahoo Directory Listing. It's not sill showing up, but I guess it will come. You will find attached the output of 2 of my competitors and Us. They both rank very well on the keyword we are interested. Where should I start ? I know the Links Juice i important, but how can I workout my strategy to defeat them. Any help would be appreciated. Best regards, h837v

Competitor with over 100,000 links to duplicate copy ranks well, anyone know why?
One of our competitors has over 100,000 links on Yahoo site explorer, most of them are from pages on their site with duplicate content and they don't seem to have a focus on gaining backlinks, but the site still ranks really well. Can anyone think of a reason why this duplicate content hasn't been penalised by Google?

Sometime I just don't get Google rankings
We currently rate #10 on google.com.au on Modern Cloth Nappies and the #4 site is a dead link to a page http://www.modernclothnappies.org/ who's total content is: Index of /
Apache Server at www.modernclothnappies.org Port 80

They have been at that rank for a quiet a while and even the cached version is full of broken links.

It seems Google is quick to jump on low value sites or ones with duplicate content, but what about stale links and sites? Has anyone else had similar experiences of being out ranked by domant or dead sites?
