Should i get witty with folder name of Blog?
-
I understand the importance of keywords, but I also worry about the usability factor.
Curious - anyone ever study about the impact of calling your WP folder "blog" vs "long-primarykeyword"
Im thinking of something generic
/blog
/community
/articles
/infoVs long keyword
/long-keyword/
ANyone have any input? Every time I search, i see things about Folders vs Subdomains, etc.
Thanks everyone for your feedback!

Thanks - yes, i wish our keword was shorter, but
longnameing-blog/ seems over the top, and
/idea-blog/ sounds assinine

when I worked for an SEO agency, our blog was called 'SEO-blog' rather than just 'blog'. Personally, I don't think it really matters that much. I wouldn't go for anything really long though because long URLs are not nice (for SEO, for the user, heck for anyone really!)

Hi
I think its better to be "Blog"; users know what blog means, but other things (long keyword stuffs) is confusing them. If you want to use your keywords, use /blog/keyword-as-category.

How I can get higher DA for sub-domian?
I have created a sub-domin https://travellife.egsky.net, Should it be treated as an independent site with regard to the site map and the internal links between it and the main domin egsky.net .which is better to obtain a higher Domain Authority? For example, when I adding a photo image for the sub-domin, Is it added on site map of the sub-domin or added for the 2 sites? Luxor-and-Aswan-Nile-Cruises-e1609000647702.jpg

Duplicate page content on numerical blog pages?
Hello everyone, I'm still relatively new at SEO and am still trying my best to learn. However, I have this persistent issue. My site is on WordPress and all of my blog pages e.g page one, page two etc are all coming up as duplicate content. Here are some URL examples of what I mean: http://3mil.co.uk/insights-web-design-blog/page/3/ http://3mil.co.uk/insights-web-design-blog/page/4/ Does anyone have any ideas? I have already no indexed categories and tags so it is not them. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Removing Blogs and 301 redirect to blog home page?
Hi, I was at the MozCon conference in Seattle this Summer and heard great concepts about deleting a lot of pages on your site that are deemed excess. It got me thinking to remove all of our old blogs that were: Sales(ee) less than 400 words Flat out bad blogs When i begin removing these links, i know i will get a lot of 404 errors because of previous social links. So in your opinion, what would you do? Do i just 301 those blogs to my main /blog page? Thanks

Blog comments - backlinks - question
Hi, I see that many good websites have backlinks from very good blogs/sites which are relative. What I noticed that everyone use their real name or generic name in comments. They do not use the keyword for the name. So later they get backlinks with anchor text of their names... So, my question is this good technique ? Do I have any benefits from these backlinks for my website ? With such a technique, whether it is enough just to leave your real name or may I periodically put the keyword for the name ? Thank you

Getting links from spammy websites on the same IP
Hey, I'm getting a ton ( 22k) of spammy links from another website which has the same IP address as mine. I've not received any notification from Webmasters but I think I'm getting massively penalized for the same. 1)Should I just go ahead and disavow these links? 2)Are there are other steps with regards to the technical aspects such as Hosting and Domain configurations I should look into to stop this and get ranked properly. 3)Do I need to submit a reconsideration request to Google after I've cleaned up this mess or will I need to wait till the next scrawl? Thanks so much!

A Blog Structure Dilemma We're Facing...
We're launching a pretty large content program (in the form of a blog) and have a structure issue: Big fans of Wordpress for efficiency reasons, but our platform doesn't allow hosting of a wordpess (or other 3rd party) blog on the primary domain where we want it. site.com/blog Here are the options: 1. Sub-domain: We can easily put it there. Benefit is we use the efficient Wordpress tools and very fast to setup etc. Downside is that the root domain won't get benefit of any backlinks to the blog (as far as I understand). I also don't believe the primary domain will benefit from the daily fresh/unique content the blog offers. 2. Custom Rig: We could create our own manual system of pages on the site to look just like our blog would. This would allow us to have it at site.com/blog and benefit from any backlinks and fresh content. The downside is that it won't be as efficient to manage. 3. External Site: Create a different site just for the blog. Same issue as the sub-domain I believe. User Experience is a top priority, and all of the above pretty much can accomplish the same UX goal, with #3 requiring a some additional strategy on positioning. Is #1 of #3 going to be a big regret down the road though, and is the backlink/content benefit clearly worth doing #2? (correct me if I'm wrong on my assumptions with #1 but at least with the backlinks I'm almost certain that's the case) Many thanks for your inputs on this.
