Post Personas
-
Hello all,
Im doing quite a lot of research into personas at the moment, and am wondering if there are any good websites that you know of that market to multiple personas?
Just looking for inspiration once the persona work is done.
Cheers!

Hi Wseabrook,
I like this article by Hubspot that suggests ways to design a persona-centric website. http://blog.hubspot.com/blog/tabid/6307/bid/32434/How-to-Design-a-Persona-Centric-Website-Experience.aspx.
For example, one suggestion is to give visitors the opportunity to self-select who they are so they can be routed to custom content on the website. The example given was an earlier version of Hubspot that displayed "I am a business owner" and "I am a marketer" on the home page. I did a Google search for "I am a website owner" and found lots of examples of sites using that tactic effectively to partition their content and effectively demonstrate an understanding of their audience. Here are a couple of examples:
You could use the same tactic to find other examples of self-selection as well as the other options suggested in the article.
Happy hunting!

Does the blog widget with latest blog-posts at homepage helps in SEO?
Hi all, We are planning to add a widget at our website homepage which displays recent blog-posts with dates. Google favours new and latest content. So will these consistent new posts help in improving website ranking? Thanks

Heavy rank drop post migration
Our website has been migrated from Joomla to Wordpress at the end of 2015 and we have tasted the loss of 20% of the traffic. After an year at the end of 2016, we have relaunched the website in same word press with new theme. Again we lost n rankings and traffic. I would say ranking. Because mostly people land on our website by searching for our brand. Now we almost went invisible for "keywords" we been targeting. We have checked all the possibilities like duplicate content, redirection, alt tags, speed, canonicals, backlinks, etc..and couldn't find what is hitting us. What could be such strong factor hitting us ?

Moving to new site. Should I take old blog posts with me?
Our company website has needed a complete overhaul for some time now and the new one is almost ready to go live. We also have a separate "news" site that is houses around 800 blog posts and news items. (That news site will be thrown away because it's on a completely different domain and causes confusion.) So we have a main site with about 100 decent blog posts and a separate news site with 800 poor posts. I plan on bringing all the main site blog posts over to the new site (both WordPress), but my question is whether or not to bring over the news site posts? All, handful, none? Another issue is the news site doesn't have Google Analytics, so I'm not sure if any posts actually generate traffic, but I can from the main site we do get some referrals from it. As far as quality of content goes, it's poor. Not sure who wrote it all, but it's mainly text press releases that aren't very interesting. Is it worth bringing over for SEO purposes or simply delete the site and create a mass redirect so all of those pages will direct to the new website's blog page? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yoast focus keywords for portfolio post types in WordPress
This one is for the WordPress optimization crowd! Portfolios are used to display work. I have a question about best seo optimization techniques. 1. Portfolios can be used to display many different types of work, for me it either original web designs from scratch, WordPress redesigns, or importing a current website into WordPress. What is the best practice for keywords for multiple portfolios that are in one category. for instance WordPress Redesign. If I have 5 WordPress redesign portfolio posts is it good practice to use WordPress redesign for all 5 portfolios or should they use variations? Yoast gets angry when the same focus keyword is used multiple times. 2. Should portfolios even be indexed? Since this is how I attract new customers I would think yes but am I giving too much exposure to my client and not enough to my business. I guess this will depend on titles and meta descriptions. A discussion on best practices here is what I am really looking for. What is your advice and opinion on the matter.

Free related posts recommendation solution?
I was preparing to use Diqus plugin to show related posts, but our site has already used another comment solution which is developed ourselves, and I don't think it's a good idea to replace all the comments of the entire site. So is there another free service to show visitors related posts? We are not a WP site, so I can only accepts HTML&JS codes, not WP plugins, etc. And I also don't want it contain external links even if I can benefit from them, because we are in a pretty specific niche, the recommendations to posts on other sites may take our orders away. Thanks

Pages vs. Posts for SEO
Hi, I would like your thoughts about pages vs. posts for SEO. I understand the difference in terms of WP structure and have read the SEOmoz blog post about setting up your site for SEO success (http://www.seomoz.org/blog/setup-wordpress-for-seo-success). However, if you're trying to rank for a particular keyword, it seems that either one could work, from an on-page SEO perspective, as far as title tag, URL, meta description, etc. So how do you decide whether to set up a page vs. a post? What are the pros and cons, from an SEO perspective, about using one vs. the other? Thanks in advance! Carolina
