Major Dip in Keyword Rank - Why?
-
Last week my ranking for "keyword A" was relatively high at 16. Since then it's dropped a staggering 31 spots. It's certainly the most important keyword we can rank for so seeing it go -31 spots is rather frightening.
I have a couple of theories:
- We haven't included it in our blog content as anchor text but once in the past 2 or so weeks since the last crawl was done by moz on oct. 21. The lack of recent links with the anchor text of "keyword A" pointing back to the blog is causing it to lose it's rapport.
- I've been adding most of our blog posts to Reddit and we've been getting almost double the traffic from Reddit alone. But with that comes a much higher bounce rate (~80%). Could posting and having visitors bounce from our blog posts cause the ranking to go down?
I would love to get your thoughts on this issue.
Thanks,
-
Also, I'm realizing that the 5% number is rather vague. To put it into perspective, it's just under our average conversion rate for that timeframe.
-
Yes, we've had some decent conversion rates from Reddit. It's been around 5% over the past couple of weeks.

Why are you posting on Reddit? Do any of the Redditors convert?

Is something strange going on with Google last few days?? Seeing strange results for competitive keywords
I am seeing some very strange results for competitive keywords. If I search on google.co.uk for "website design" which I feel is a pretty tough keyword. I see a site called http://www.techdesigns.co.uk/ If you go to the site its a laptop review site with no mention of website design on the site. They seem to be an Amazon Affiliate They have 23,597 links saying website design but mostly from adult websites. I have seen this on a few result related to SEO but dont want to mention any names in case we upset anyone on the forum. How can they rank for such a competitive keyword without onpage? Surely Panda should have hit this site? Why have they not been hit by Penguin so many adult links? Sorry if this is anyones site on here I am not looking to get you banned or hit just stumps me why this site ranks.

Natural Anchor Text distribution for brand = main keyword
Dear folks, I will start link building for my all new site www.buy-hosting.net and would greatly appreciate your opinion about some questions: 1.) How many links would you in my place seed per day? I plan to start with directory links and sincere, useful contributions in blogs and forums, with my URL in the signiture. 2.) Natural anchor text distribution:

My brand Buy-Hosting.net ist the same as my main targeted keywords "Buy Hosting". However, I also want to have a natural looking link profile, so I would seed links like "Click here" or "Windows Hosting" or "Webhosting" as well. How would you distribute die Anchor Text Precentage ?
E.g. (60% Buy Hosting - 10% Windows Hosting - 10% Click here - 10% Joomla Hosting - 10% Hosting Reviews)? Does that make sense or is that already spammy? 3.) How many No-Follow links would you seed (in %)?
4.) How many links (in %) would you seed to subpages, instead of the main page? Are there larger margins for Keywords, that eqal the Domain/Brand Name, without being conted as spam? Is there a good article about the natural distribution of anchor texts? Your input is greatly appreciated and thoroughly considered.
Thank you and kind regards0
