Roger says I have 378 404 errors
-
Hi
The report shows that I have 404 errors in the about of almost 300 but they appear to me to be active and part of the site. ???
Examples:
NOTE: warning - these pages discuss BDSM and have some nude images
here are some on the list
http://bestslavetraining.com/groups/discipline-and-punishment/?acpage=6
http://bestslavetraining.com/groups/general-b-d-s-m/?acpage=13
also here is one that does not work
http://bestslavetraining.com/activity/activity/
WHY does it show 404 errors for urls that work??? what am I missing and what in the world am I to correct if they appear on the SEOmoz error log.???

Hi and thank you
You said that you hop it helps - I am sure it will as soon as I figure out what you told me LOL - Thank you. I am glad you gave me a place to start.
Ater your reply, I did check GWT and do have many 404's I didn't realize. Howevery a quick looks shows they are not the same as the ones listed in SEOmoz. Don't know what that's about.
It will take me a while to figure this out LOL Hell I just figured out what the term "SEO" means a few weeks ago . I am a writer and photographer not a SEO so the cure will be slow.
Again thank you - I will read it again and again lol

Hi Jeffrey. Many times these are 404's produced by sites trying to link to you that perhaps have an incomplete URL, or incorrect URL. Have you looked at your Google Webmaster Tools 404 errors? You can see there where the source is. If the source is on your site, keep in mind that sometime URLs can be abbreviated in hypertext and still work when clicked, but a bot will take the URL very literally and not see the rest of it, consequently producing a 404. The way SEOMoz q & A posts abbreviate URLs is a good example. When you click on them they work, but if you copy-and-pasted just the snippet that's visible on the page into a browser, it would produce a 404.
A lot of online Web comparison tools and even occasionally some directories will display truncated URLs, that might look like this for example: "http://bestslavetraining.com/activity/ac.." I would check them in GWT (you may have already done that) and see if the culprits are mostly external or internal. Hope that helps a little.

Google is reporting a server error, but there's no server error.
Google is erroneously reporting a server error and I just can't figure out the source of the issue. My links work, and GoDaddy ensures me there is no server error. This issue arose when I moved from HTTP to HTTPS and CPanel hosting, but I've got no idea how to fix it. I thought maybe I have duplicate content, but it does not appear that way. Any suggestions? I'm at a loss. www.thedishmaster.com

Google Analytics reporting traffic for 404 pages
Hi guys, Unique issue with google analytics reporting for one of our sites. GA is reporting sessions for 404 pages (landing pages, organic traffic) e.g. for this page: http://www.milkandlove.com.au/breastfeeding-dresses/index.php the page is currently a 404 page but GA (see screenshot) is reporting organic traffic (to the landing page). Does anyone know any reasons why this is happening? Cheers. http://www.milkandlove.com.au/breastfeeding-dresses/index.php GK0zDzj.jpg

Find 404 Broken Links
We are looking for tools to help us repair broken backlinks, those with 404 error. We have used the Open Site Explorer tool to create a CSV file from our client's URL. We read the "Fixing Crawl Diagnostic Issues", but don't see how to "find the 404ed URL", nor do we see a "referral column" to scroll to. What steps should we take to locate the broken 404 linkages? What steps can we take to streamline repairs?

SEOMoz & GWT crawl error conflicting info
Site im working on has zero crawl errors according to SEOMoz (it did previously have lots since ironed out) but now looking at GWebmaster Tools saying 5000 errors. Date of those are not that recent but Webmaster Tools line graph of errors still showing aprox 5000 up to yesterday There is an option to bulk action/tick them all as fixed so thinking/hoping GWT just keeping a historical record that can now be deleted since no longer applicable. However i'm not confident this is the case since still showing on the line graph. Any ideas re this anomalous info (can i delete and forget in GWT) ? Also side question I take it its not possible to link a GA property with a GWT account if created with different logins/accounts ? Many Thanks Dan

Subdomain and relative link paths cause crawl errors
I have a Wordpress blog on our subdomain and we use relative paths on our domain. It appears as though Google bot is crawling from the subdomain categories back to the domain relative paths. This of course results in hundreds of 404 pages. Any suggestions as to how to resolve this issue without changing the relative path structure of our domain? I can provide more information if need be. While I realize these issues are not that pressing, I'd obviously like to remove as many errors as possible. If anyone has encountered this problem, especially in Wordpress I'd really like to hear your solution or lack there of. Thank you in advance.

500 errors
We are accumulating a signficant number of 500 errors, now reaching 3000 URLs after only 2 months since the re-coding of our site in Expression Engine. I haven't gotten a straight answer re: implications or solutions... by default, suggesting that it's not of any consequence. History: The site was initially developed in EE (prior to that, an HTML platform) with a host of site issues. We then contracted an EE specialist to properly code the site. The 'new; site was released Sept 21st. I'd appreciate some guidance and recommendations, so I can go back in hand to the developer. What are the considerations or consequences, if any, for ignoring the 500 errors? What are strategies or solutions for removing them from Google Webmaster Tools and preventing future 500 errors? Thanks. Alan

Phantom urls causing 404
I have a very strange problem. When I run SEOmoz diagnostics on my site, it reveals urls that I never created. It seems to combine two slugs into a new url. For example, I have created the pages http://www.naplesrealestatestars.com/abaco-bay-condos-naples/ and http://www.naplesrealestatestars.com/beachwalk-naples-florida/ and now the url http://www.naplesrealestatestars.com/abaco-bay-condos-naples/beachwalk-naples-florida/ exists in addition to the two I created. There are over 100 of these phantom urls and they all show a 404 error when clicked on or crawled by SEOmoz. Any body know how to correct this?
