Google displaying "Items 1-9" before the description in the Search Results
-
We see our pages coming up in Google with the category page/product numbers in front of our descriptions. For example: Items 1 - 24 of 86 (and than the descriptions follows).
Our website is magento based. Is there a fix for this that anyone knows of?
Is there method of stopping Google from adding this on to the front of our Meta Description?

Hi there, thanks for your question! Has it been answered? We'd love an update on this issue, thanks!!

In Webmaster tools, are there many duplicate descriptions?
What do you mean by losing all the existing URLs?
Yes we do, you can contact me on my profile for further action on this.

In our webmasters tools, I do see many duplicated page issues...What would be an easy fix?
Would we lose all the existing URL's?
Also Rene, perhaps inappropriate to ask in this Q and A section, but do you also offer
offer services to fix these issues for companies? Often I get great advise, but wouldnt
know where to start implementing it, and our web developer is great, but not very
SEO knowledgeable...

Well it should be empty, but I don't see any problems with this page in particular: http://www.dutchgrown.com/fall-planted-bulbs/tulips/tulip-arma.html
""
Are there a description that you could show me which contains the prefix? By the way, you should be careful using the category option for your products. Especially with Magento, you can run into Duplicate Content issues when you have the category as a part of the product URL.

website is http://tinyurl.com/lbldnba

Dear Rene,
Thank you for responding.
I did not see Search Engine Optimization listed under: System => Configuration => Catalog => Search Engine Optimization?
However, I was able to go to the sidewide settings shown in your screenshot.
My "Title Prefix" and "Title Suffix" and "Default Description" are empty right now.Do you recommend putting in a default description?
-
Do you mean that Magento adds a prefix on your meta descriptions? Or do you mean that the category is included in the URL?
Just wanted to make sure that I understand it correctly, and I think that you ask about the meta description tag. Have you taken a look at the meta description field in System => Configuration => Catalog => Search Engine Optimization?
You could also take a look at the sidewide settings for the tags: http://www.screenpages.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Generall-Config2-580x324.png

404 or rel="canonical" for empty search results?
We have search on our site, using the URL, so we might have: example.com/location-1/service-1, or example.com/location-2/service-2. Since we're a directory we want these pages to rank. Sometimes, there are no search results for a particular location/service combo, and when that happens we show an advanced search form that lets the user choose another location, or expand the search area, or otherwise help themselves. However, that search form still appears at the URL example.com/location/service - so there are several location/service combos on our website that show that particular form, leading to duplicate content issues. We may have search results to display on these pages in the future, so we want to keep them around, and would like Google to look at them and even index them if that happens, so what's the best option here? Should we rel="canonical" the page to the example.com/search (where the search form usually resides)? Should we serve the search form page with an HTTP 404 header? Something else? I look forward to the discussion.

Webmaster tools not showing links but Moz OSE is showing links. Why can't I see them in the Google Search Console
Hi, Please see attached photos. I have a website that shows external follow links when performing a search on open site explorer. However, they are not recognised or visible in search console. This is the case for both internal and external links. The internal links are 'no follow' which I am getting developer to rectify. Any ideas why I cant see the 'follow' external links? Thanks in advance to those who help me out. Jesse T7dkL5s T7dkL5s OkQmPL4 3qILHqS

Will Google Continue to Index the Page with NoIndex Tag Upon Google +1 Button Impression or Click?
The FAQs for Google +1 button suggests as follows: "+1 is a public action, so you should add the button only to public, crawlable pages on your site. Once you add the button, Google may crawl or recrawl the page, and store the page title and other content, in response to a +1 button impression or click." If my page has NoIndex tag, while at the same time inserted with Google +1 button on the page, will Google recognise the NoIndex Tag on the page (and will not index the page) despite the +1 button's impression or clicks send signals to Google spiders?

Version 1: www.abccompany.com/miami-moving-company/about-us www.abccompany.com/miami-moving-company/contact-us etc. etc. Version 2: www.abccompany.com/about-us Thank you for your thoughts!
