How to do SEO for different countries- .au, .uk, .in
-
Hi
I have a website which we targetted in australia and ranked it on top. Now we are launching another version of website in UK so we uploaded same site with same content in same language to .uk domain.
1- Will google consider it as a duplicate content as sites are same only domain is different
2- How to do onpage for such site?
Thanks

Hi
Is there any way that we can avoid rewriting content for whole site? Do you mean that all websites that have 1000+ pages writes content again if they have sites in .com.au and .co.uk? Isnt it a big big work?

Hey,
I quote from: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.ro/2010/03/working-with-multi-regional-websites.html
"Dealing with duplicate content on global websites
Websites that provide content for different regions and in different languages sometimes create content that is the same or similar but available on different URLs. This is generally not a problem as long as the content is for different users in different countries. While we strongly recommend that you provide unique content for each different group of users, we understand that this may not always be possible for all pages and variations from the start. There is generally no need to "hide" the duplicates by disallowing crawling in a robots.txt file or by using a "noindex" robots meta tag. However, if you're providing the same content to the same users on different URLs (for instance, if both "example.de/" and "example.com/de/" show German language content for users in Germany), it would make sense to choose a preferred version and to redirect (or use the"rel=canonical" link element) appropriately."
I hope that helped.

P.S. Still I will have to agree with Russel on his 2nd, if you want to build up from the start a better optimized website, you should probably offer different content on the websites.
Also think about the cultural differences which people use in English in Australia and UK, the text will need to be localized also to have a proper "reading level" for their visitors.

Hi there,
1. For sure Google will count it as duplicated content and in my opinion it is even worst than having duplicated content on the same domain. I will suggest you to remove content from 2nd domain as soon as possible otherwise it might make a negative impact on your 1st domain rankings.
2. Better hire a copywriter and make a content rewrite, this will help you to avoid negative impact.
Cheers,
Russel

Google Site Search & SEO benefits
Hi all - I've had a comb through the forums here but can't seem to find any updates on whether there any tangible benefits for using Google Site Search. We're currently exploring using Lucene, Oracle Endeca, & Google Site Search - but from what I've read so far there are no quantifiable benefits for choose Google over any others. Everything I've read is rumor-mill...anybody have experience or references? Thanks in advance!

WP SEO plugin
When working with WP sites I generally use Michael Torbert's All in One SEO Pack. I've encountered a few examples where when the homepage shows up on a Google search results page the title/title tag shows up as {Business Name:} | {Keyword/Description}. In the 'General Settings' of the plugin in the 'Home Title' field, I have it listed as {Keyword/Description} | {Business Name} I'm not sure why the order is getting switched and where the ':' comes from. I'm not sure if this even has any adverse effect. If anyone has had experience with this, your input would be appreciated. Note - I'm not seeing this issue reflected on Bing.

Undoing Video SEO
Ok, so here's a good one for you. I was ranking well (2-3rd) position when I got it into my head that I should implement some video SEO to get the video to appear next to my ranking. Well I did that with the help of Wistia. Only problem is my 2-3 ranking become 4-5, and I also became convinced that the page seemed less desirable as video content when I saw it in the rankings. So... I want to undo what I did. I removed the video sitemap and the SEO video markup from wistia, but it's been weeks and Google has still got me listed as video content. Any thoughts on how to accelerate the undoing of this damage?

Best SEO extension or plugin for on-page optimization
I was wondering what you guys might recommend for a browser extension or plugin that would help developers optimize each page for specific keywords. I'm looking for a tool that will give me a grade on how well it's optimized with a recommendation checklist. I would use SEOMoz's onpage analysis tool but it doesn't have access to my private development environment (hence the need for a plugin.) Recommendations? Thanks!

Can you recommend a few resources for Yahoo SEO
We get very little traffic from Yahoo Search and it seems only 15%-20% of our pages are indexed by Yahoo and Bing although we do submit sitemaps to both of them. Do you have some tips or resources (articles, blogs, books) you could recommend for Yahoo Search optimization?
