Faulty title, meta description and version (https instead of http) on homepage
-
Hi there,
I am working on a client (http://minibusshuttle.com/) whose homepage is not indexed correctly by Google. In details, the title & meta description are taken from another website (http://planet55.co.uk/). In addition, homepage is indexed as https instead of http. The rest of the URIs are correctly indexed (titles, meta descriptions, http etc).
planet55.co.uk used to be hosted on the same server as minibusshuttle.com and an SSL certificate was activated for that domain.
I have tried several times to manually "fetch by Google" the homepage, to no avail. The rest of the pages are indexed/refreshed normally and Google responds very fast when I perform any kind of changes there.
Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.
Kind regards,
George

Hi George,
Actually, I misspoke above. Sorry about that! The first result for the non-personalized search "site:minibusshuttle.com" ---- https://www.google.co.uk/#q=site:minibusshuttle.com&psw=0 --- in google.co.uk links to https://minibusshuttle.com, which shows content for Essex Digital Media. (See the attached screen cap, which shows page 1 search results for this query. I believe they will look very similar to yours, including the title and description for planet55.co.uk).
Yes, I would definitely recommend pushing the hosting company to straighten this out immediately. I would also seriously consider migrating the site to a hosting company you can trust. Best of luck, and please us know how the hosting company responds.

Hi Christy,
How did you do that? I mean... When you click on the results for "mini bus shuttle" it takes you to Essex Digital Media's website?
This does not happen to me and I tested that from diferrent browsers and devices.
When the website was under the redesign process, it was stored in a path like "essexdigitalmedia.co.uk/zzz/xxx/minibussshuttle". Essexdigitalmedia.co.uk is the main domain of the specific hosting server.
This is getting worse. I have to push the hosting company for further investigation.
Thank you

Hi George,
This is strange indeed. When you clicked on the first result for the search "mini bus shuttle", did it take you to this site, which does not have a valid certificate, and is displaying content for Essex Digital Media (see screen cap at imager linked to below)?
And did you contact the hosting company again?
Kind Wishes,
Christy

Hi Christy,
The hosting company just deactivated the SSL as requested by me for planet55.co.uk. But look what is happening now:
1. When you search for "mini bus shuttle" (tested on google.co.uk) everything (title, meta description etc) is displayed correctly.
2. If you type "site:minibusshuttle.com" the planet55.co.uk title & meta description come up.
I gave up. I really don't know what else to check. If anybody else has any idea at all, it would be highly appreciated.
Regards,
George

Hi George,
Did you hosting company give you any feedback? We'd love an update on this issue. Thanks!

Hi Jonathan,
Thank you for your reply. I had already contacted my hosting company and waiting for their feedback. I 'll let you know.
Cheers,
George

Speak to your host. I believe this is caused by SNI technology at the server level which can cause https versions to revert to another site. SNI is when you can have SSL certificates on a shared IP.
This is best dealt with by your hosting provider.

Please help for some reason my website home page has disappeared, we have been working on the site but nothing that I can think of which would block it. There are no warnings in google console? Can anyone lend a hand in understanding what has gone wrong, I would really appreciate it. The site is: http://www.discountstickerprinting.co.uk/ Seems to be working again but I had to fetch the home page in google console, any idea why this has happened cannot afford a heat op at this age lol?

Mobile Meta Descriptions?
Hi Guys, We have two different versions of each page for both desktop and mobile example: http://tinyurl.com/zkxlxax http://tinyurl.com/zelqcbv We want to create meta descriptions for both versions. However in the CMS (http://www.mantistech.com.au/ecommerce_website_package.aspx) it only allows one meta description. Example: http://s21.postimg.org/ar8bzrh3r/screenshot_1804.jpg Does anyone know anyway around this? To add two different meta descriptions and tell Google which one to use based on device type. Thanks.

HTTP Header Canonical Tags
I want to be able to add canonical tags to http headers of individual URL's using .htacess, but I can't find any examples for how to do this. The only example I found was when specifying a file: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/how-to-advanced-relcanonical-http-headers N.B. It's not possible to add regular canonical tags to the of my pages as they're dynamically generated. I was trying to add the following to the .htaccess in order to add a canonical tag in the header of the page http://frugal-father.com/is-finance-in-the-uk-too-london-centric/, but I've checked with Live HTTP headers and the canonical line isn't showing : <files "is-finance-in-the-uk-too-london-centric="" "="">Header add Link "<http: frugal-father.com="">; rel="canonical"'</http:></files> Any ideas?

Optimized page titles post penguin
Just a quick question to hear a few opinions on page titles in a post penguin/panda world. For example, we are working on a large downloads portal that offers Addons for games called FSX and FS2004... Page titles are currently as follows: Concorde for FSX - Civil Aircraft Downloads

British Airways Boeing 747 for FSX - Civil Aircraft Downloads
Quants Airbus A380 for FSX - Civil Aircraft Downloads I thought it would be beneficial to remove the boilerplate "Civil Aircraft Downloads" to stop the template effect in the titles. Yay or nay? Good idea or bad idea? Other ideas? Also, after removing that the titles would be as follows: British Airways Boeing 747 for FSX We still will have "for FSX" boiler plate text...is this okay? Perhaps we should remove the "for" and just have the title as "FSX Concorde" or "Concorde FSX" -what do you guys think? Are there any other title suggestions you guys can recommend? Your thoughts, tips and suggestions are very much appreciated.0 -
How to handle "2" homepages?
Came across an interesting problem. A site has the traditional homepage of site.com and ranks okay. Later I found that another "homepage", site.com/home.html that ranks well for several terms but actually has old branding and semi-up-to-date content. Site.com/home.html has a solid linking profile but not as strong as the current homepage (site.com). The question I have is should I try to salvage the page or 301 redirect to site.com? Thank for the help!

Why should your title and H1 tag be different?
Is it dangerous to have your H1 tag and your title the exact same thing? My thought was that it's not be the best use of space, but that it couldn't cause harm. What do you think?
