SEOmoz Toolbar vs. Opensiteexplorer
-
Dumb question, why is the SEOmoz Toolbar reporting vastly different data than opensitexplorer?
I had assumed they pulled from the same data set. False assumption? Am I misinterpreting the metrics?
The discrepancies with which I am most confused are differences in number of root linking domains between OSE and Toolbar.
Please enlighten me.

Yeah I don't bother with ALM anymore, it doesn't track like it's supposed to even with the API. AWR is great but ALM is close to useless in my opinion.

Thanks Jennifer, I think my issue is with the way Caphyon's Advanced Link Manager is accessing SEOmoz's linkscape API.

Hi! OSE and the toolbar do use the same data, they both pull from the Linkscape index. It would be helpful to take a look at a specific URL so I can help point out what's what. But one thing to note, as Daniel already mentioned, when you're looking at the toolbar it shows both Page data and Root Domain data. In OSE at first glance you're getting just the data for that page. If you click on the "Full List of Link Metrics" tab, you'll see the exact same numbers.
Hope this helps! I'm happy to help further by looking at specific URLs.
Thanks!
Jen

Thanks Daniel. I think my issue has something to do with the way my SEOmoz Pro account is integrating with Caphyon Advanced Link Manager.
For some reason it's not pulling all the domains from linkscape.

Depends on what you are looking at. When you look up the URL in OSE, it will show you linking domains to that URL, not to the whole domain. If in OSE you go to the full link metrics tab you can see everything on that url and domain, and all of those numbers should be in the toolbar somewhere.

SEOMoz Question
Hi, I have taken over SEO on a real estate site with an internal blog. Unfortunately there are loads of duplicated pages and titles in the blog. It was suggested that all should be rel=canonical so not to show up. In my last crawl here though they still do. So question is if SEOMoz crawls and sees them is Google also seeing them? Also would it be best to move the blog off site so this does not cause anymore damage and just link to it from the main site? Thanks for your comments

Duplicate content in SEOMOZ report
Hi guys, The SEOMOZ report shows there is duplicate content on my Magento ecommerce: footdistrict.com Example: http://footdistrict.com/nike-air-royalty-386169602.html?___store=footdistrict_en Duplicate content shown on the report: http://footdistrict.com/marcas/puma.html?___store=footdistrict_en

http://footdistrict.com/new-balance-m400nnb.html?___store=footdistrict_en My guess is that this is due to the fixed footer that we have set where modal windows pop up with delivery info and so on. As such, all the content within it is repeated through all the pages What do you recommend me to remove this duplicate content? I have read about duplicate content issues but they don't usually deal with div tag duplicate issues, modal windows and so on. Thanks Regards0 -
Are seomoz ranking in jeopardy?
A few weeks ago Raventools announced that they would no longer be able to provide tools based on the adwords API, then withdrew that. Rand commented on a thread here discussing that and made similar noises. Today Raventools made an announcement as SERP tracking with wording that sounded a lot like it had more than a little influence from Google. Would I be really paranoid to be wondering whether the Rankings tools in seomoz could be at risk?

How often does SEOMoz refresh their link analysis data?
I know that my link profile has changed within the last month, yet both SEOMoz campaign link analysis and Open Site Explorer have shown the exact same number of links for more than a month. Majestic SEO fluctuates as I would expect, but Moz data is unchanged.

Confusion about how SEOMOZ crawler works...
So according to my SEOMOZ dashboard, I'm ranking between #3-4 for one of my keywords. My keyword is 'Boston Wedding Photographer'. My site is http://www.symbolphoto.com I show up in google places, true. But i was wanting to rank organically. Am i right in the assumption that Google Places and Google Organic are not the same thing? SEOMOZ claims 3,4th but not organically(Assuming they aren't the same thing) I get pretty good traffic right now being in Places, but i can't help but feel that organically ranking would bring more traffic. Any suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated. TIA! -Brendan

Can SEOMOZ do Local SEO ?
Most of our clients are local but we can not get local or regional (for example VA State or Washington DC) SERP results within SEOMOZ. it would be nice to create custom search profiles based on region (State or County) and track SERP within SEOMOZ. Ranking reports and even keyword difficulty analysis etc. within SEOMOZ are misleading for local web sites. SEOMOZ default site setup assumes every business doing SEO serves all over the US. I think it will be very beneficial if we have a choice to select State or County of local web sites during initial campaing set up at SEOMOZ. what do you think? do you know any work around of this problem? Thanks,
