Google Hangout/YouTube Videos- How to re-market?
-
I've created multiple high quality Google Hangout videos (now stored as YouTube videos) with a client.
Does it make sense to download these videos and re-post to third party sources like Vimeo, DailyMotion, etc. or is this considered duplicative content and no additional G value will apply?
I know I have some excellent content in these videos and would like to hear from someone with experience on promoting raw video footage, outside of the YouTube format. Have you had success?
Thanks!

I should add - I have probably read more Whiteboard Fridays than I have actually watched, just because I find it easier to speed read through it and hone in on the stuff I care about.
Something to consider since not all of your visitors want to watch a video - some people don't have speakers/headphones, don't want to use mobile data, etc.

I would just let the page be ridiculously long, but reformat the transcript with subheadings and formatting like bullets to make it more readable.
Whiteboard Friday transcripts are a good example of this. We do the same at pages like http://www.contentharmony.com/videos/seo-brilliant-marketing-and-brand/.
On a related note, Speechpad is a good service for a $1 per minute transcripts. Way faster than DIY if you're going to be doing a ton of these.

Hello Kane,
I appreciate the response. Our plan now is to create some new onsite videos using Wistia.
I have a follow up question and hopefully you can help.
I will be writing transcripts for the videos. How do you recommend presenting the content on the page? Meaning we can't provide it on the page itself (the page would be ridiculously long). If we hide the content (only viewable if a user clicks to expand), that doesn't provide much strength in Google. If we include it in the meta data of the video file, I don't think we would gain much benefit.
Let me know how you would approach it and I appreciate your feedback!
Thanks

If you had them on a secondary network, like Vimeo or DailyMotion, then there would be value to putting these on YouTube. But since they're already on YouTube, I don't see a lot of additional value coming from the other networks in terms of actual impressions from the client's audience. It might get them a few followed or nofollowed links, but not enough to salivate over.
I would recommend embedding this content onto the client's site in a Video section or as blog posts each time the Hangouts are finished. This makes sure that potential customers on the client's site can easily watch the videos without getting sent to YouTube, because in general, any traffic you send to YouTube has a low chance of staying on the site once you send them away.
When you add the videos to the site, it's also worth considering getting a transcript made in order to increase the unique text content on the page - or at least highlighting 5-10 video takeaways in quotes beneath the video. This will help the video page look more valuable and have a shot at ranking.
Finally, don't title the pages "hangout session 01-21-2015" or anything like that. Title them using keywords that are worth targeting based upon the topic of the video, like "How to XYZ With Jane & John Doe (Video)". This will give them a better shot at ranking for something worthwhile.

Video Accessibility and SEO
How do you implement video meta data, closed captioning and transcripts to ensure both search engines and screen readers can crawl/read? For example, in a mostly text-based video with a simple audio track hosted one brightcove and embedded into our site, we want to make sure 1) google can crawl the text on the video and 2) a vision-impaired viewer would be able to use a screen reader to hear the text on the video.

Outside Top 10 Even though - Higher Domain/Page Authority/Higher On Page Grade
Hi, Note: this is for Australian search results - for people in Perth.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | HeadStud
The website is: http://thedj.com.au I am trying to optimise for the keyword 'perth wedding dj', but also 'wedding dj perth' and for some reason my website isn't even in the top 10 results. Here is what's weird though: My on-page grade with the On-Page Grader for the keyword 'wedding DJ perth' is an 'A' for http://thedj.com.au (http://awesomescreenshot.com/0135135hca) When checking the Keyword Difficulty in the Google Australia search enginge for 'wedding DJ perth' - there are 4 results which have a lower domain authority than 15 (in fact one result has a domain authority of 1) - http://awesomescreenshot.com/03f5134zd1 http://thedj.com.au has a Domain Authority of 23/100 and a Page Authority of 34/100. (http://awesomescreenshot.com/0bb5134tb8) So seeing as the page has gotten an A for on-page optimisation for the keyword 'wedding DJ Perth' and has a higher domain authority then many results in the top 10... why isn't it in the Top 10?! Bonus Question:
Why is DJ Avi showing up at the top of search results (Local listing) depsite the fact that:
a) He has no website to link to
b) No reviews for his listing
c) No keywords that I can see (other than the fact that he's a DJ)

Google disavow tool
I have an algorithmic penalty on one of my websites. I never received a notification of a manual penalty in GWMT and even sent in a reconsideration request 6 months ago ad they told me their were no manual penalties on the website. I have cleaned up my link profile and what I could not clean up I sent in using the Google disavow tool a few days ago. I've heard to just wait if it's algorithmic or should I send in another reconsideration request for disavow links tool?

Posing QU's on Google Variables "aclk", "gclid" "cd", "/aclk" "/search", "/url" etc
I've been doing a bit of stats research prompted by read the recent ranking blog http://www.seomoz.org/blog/gettings-rankings-into-ga-using-custom-variables There are a few things that have come up in my research that I'd like to clear up. The below analysis has been done on my "conversions". 1/. What does "/aclk" mean in the Referrer URL? I have noticed a strong correlation between this and "gclid" in the landing page variable. Does it mean "ad click" ?? Although they seem to "closely" correlate they don't exactly, so when I have /aclk in the referrer Url MOSTLY I have gclid in the landing page URL. BUT not always, and the same applies vice versa. It's pretty vital that I know what is the best way to monitor adwords PPC, so what is the best variable to go on? - Currently I am using "gclid", but I have about 25% extra referral URL's with /aclk in that dont have "gclid" in - so am I underestimating my number of PPC conversions? 2/. The use of the variable "cd" is great, but it is not always present. I have noticed that 99% of my google "Referrer URL's" either start with:

Duplicate Listings on Google Maps
About 3 weeks ago google created a duplicate listing for our law firm on google maps. In building links I have tried very hard to ensure that our address and company name was always listed identically. Our correct firm name and address is Feldman Feldman & Associates, PC 2221 Camino Del Rio South, Suite 201 inevitably somehow the new listing stated Camino Del Rio S, Ste 201 All of our reviews moved over to this new profile, I claimed it, changed it to make it the same reported it to Google. Google merged them. Now Google has created another profile this time the firm name and address matches ours exactly (South and Suite both spelled out), but all of the reviews have moved over except for the most recent one(s). I have claimed it again and reported it to google, changed the address. Google then created another listing. Our page rank for keywords has been hurt by this. any idea why this keeps happening suggestions? Here are the two pages. This is our original listing http://maps.google.com/maps/place?hl=en&cid=468564492130231259 This is the new one google self created that stole all our reviews, but is ranked very poorly for the keyword searches. http://maps.google.com/maps/place?&cid=468564492130231259
