On-Page Grader supporting HTTPS?
-
Hi there,
I am getting the error "Sorry, but this URL is inaccessible" on the Moz On-Page Grader. I have tested with multiple URL's but any that link to my site give the error. I have noticed my site's URL's redirect to https so my question is..is the on-page grader in-compatible with https?
Cheers!

Oh good! I'm glad you were able to find the source!
We actually use a set of dynamic IPs, so there's not a range that I'd be able to provide. I'm afraid the best things I could suggest would be to ask them to whitelist our user agents, dotbot and rogerbot.
-
Thanks Jordan, it didn't make a difference but what I found was that my hosting company was blocking Amazon Web Services. They said they need a range of IP's from the cloud service that Moz uses to unblock, is there anyway you can advise me on what these are and is Amazon the cloud service that Moz uses?
Cheers!

I would expect that to take care of the issue
-
I've changed it too:
User-agent: rogerbot
Allow: /
Would this let Moz crawl the site?
-
Hmm I thought that too! It's strange though because my site is being indexed on Google and Moz is able to crawl it for other features. When I run the robots test in Google Webmaster Tools, the one where you run a test to see if URL's are blocked and you pick a bot e.g Googlebot...it says everything is working ok and it is allowed? Wouldn't that not be the case if bots were blocked from crawling the site?
-
Ah, yep, that would do it!
That configuration is currently blocking every bot known to man from accessing every portion of your site. Here's an awesome resource to help with robots.txt setup: http://www.robotstxt.org/robotstxt.html
If you were looking to allow all robots to access all pages on your site, then this command would do the trick:
User-agent: *
Disallow:
(Without the blank line between commands. Q&A formatting be damned.
)

Hi Jordan,
Thanks a million for your response! I am still having the same issue..my robots.txt is as follows:
User-agent: *
Disallow: /Would this be blocking those bots? I know this blocks bots from accessing ALL content, but does it block all bots from accessing my site in general? Should I be changing it and if so, what would you recommend I change to allow for optimal crawling?
Cheers and thanks for taking the time to respond!

Hi Ross!
On-Page Grader should definitely function for https sites, in general. For example, https://moz.com looks to be working just fine.If you're getting that response from On-Page Grader, it's usually related to some sort of blockage. I'd recommend checking through your robots.txt to make sure that rogerbot and dotbot aren't being blocked, that your SSL is all looking good, and that the site isn't blocking Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Why page load time is different in google webmaster vs what is displayed in moz?
When I analyze the site through Moz tool and compare the results with google webmaster, I am not able to figure what why Moz does not report the slow pages. Fro example this page has an avrage LCP of 3.0 sec https://www.collegehippo.com/graduate-school/programs/gre-score-business-analytics-data-analytics When I see the report in moz, it does not point to any such issue. Should I be worried about what google reports and try to fix the page?

On-Page Grader giving wrong results for missing keyword in image Alt Attribute
I'm trying to optimize for the Keyword "River City Apartments" on this page: https://3fconstruction.net/case-studies/river-city-apartments-chicago-condo-deconversion-renovation/ When I use On-Page Grader to see how I'm doing it's telling me I'm missing the Keyword in the Image Alt Attribute. However, it's clearly in there. <strong>River City Apartments Aerial</strong> What am I missing?

Should keywords found in a keyword tool (eg. Keyword explorer) be implemented on a page in the exact order?
Hi guys, I have a question about adding keywords found directly from a keyword tool onto a webpage. I see a keyword opportunity from Moz's Keyword Explorer, for example, "dog giardia treatment natural" and was wondering if it should be worked into the page exactly in that order? For example, I've modified the question on the page to now read "Are there any other dog Giardia treatments that are natural?" Is this good practice? Should it be exactly in the order of the keyword found in the tool? Is what I've done too spammy? Appreciate any help! Thanks

Site Crawl report show strange duplicate pages
Beginning in early in Feb, we got a big bump in duplicate pages. The URLs of the pages are very odd: Example URL:
Moz Bar | | Neo4j
http://firstname.lastname@website.com/dir/page.php
is duplicate with http://website.com/dir/page.php I checked though the site, nginx conf files, and referral pages, and could not find what is prefixing the pages with 'http://firstname.lastname@'. Any ideas? The person whose name is 'Firstname Lastname' is stumped as well. Thanks.0 -
On-Page Grader Url is inaccessible
Hi everybody. I'm trying to use on -page grader for https://www.upscaledinnerclub.com and get "Sorry, but that URL is inaccessible." Robots.txt are empty, another thread on MOZ was talking about DNS check - it's all good. So, I can't figure out why this is happening. Also I am trying the same for another website https://www.regexseo.com - the same story. Common thing is that they both are on Google App Engine. And at first i thought that was the problem. Bu then i checked this one : https://www.logitinc.com/ and it's working, even though this website is on GAE as well. None of these website have robots.txt or any differences in setup or settings. Any thoughts?

In Moz Medium Pro how many pages can you track for keyword rankings at a time? I know you can track up to 50 in Standard.
I would possibly like to upgrade my subscription from Standard to Medium because I want to be able to track more pages in Rank Tracker. Unfortunately, the product descriptions do not include how many pages you can track in Rank Tracker.

How do you block keywords in On-Page Grader for certain URLs?
For the on-page grader, I rank A's for 9 keywords. I struggle with F's I have because it is searching keywords on pages that are not supposed to be searched. For example, I have a "bracelets" page, so I didn't optimize it for "rings", so I got an F. However, it graded me an A for the bracelets keyword, which is great. To be sure I am correct, each page should have it's own keyword, such as bracelet. So why is the grader checking my "Bracelets" page for "Rings"? Maybe there is something I am missing. Just trying to see why this happening.

Why my on-page report card won't improve?
For my page www.homedestination.com/Minneapolis-homes-for-sale.html, Moz ranks the page as an "F" for the keyword "Minneapolis home buyers". All data in the report card is from months ago. using the "Grade my On-Page Optimization" button fails to show any updates - even after months. For example the title is actually "Minneapolis Homes For Sale| buying a Minneapolis home | Homebuyers" while Moz says it is ""Minneapolis Homes For Sale | Home Destination | Jenna Thuening" Moz says the description tag is "Realtor Jenna Theuning helping real estate buyers find Minnetonka homes for sale, owner of Home Destination. CDPE also helps with foreclosure and short sales buying." and "Minneapolis homes for sale, and Minneapolis listing, and Minneapolis upscale real estate, and Minneapolis lakeside properties provided by Home Destination"" when it is actually "Minneapolis homes for sale, and Minneapolis listing, Minneapolis home buyers, and Minneapolis lakeside properties provided by Home Destination." Additionally, my weekly ranking reports seems "stuck" and continues to show many "F" ranked keywords that have been updated for some time. Amy advice on how to see improvements?
