URLs Case Sensitive Serving Duplications
-
At PakWheels.com we have URLs being generated in upper and lower cases. For example following URLs serve pages:
http://www.pakwheels.com/used-cars/search/-/mk_Toyota/
http://www.pakwheels.com/used-cars/search/-/mk_toyota/
Both show same content. Similarly in following four cases:
http://www.pakwheels.com/used-cars/search/-/mk_Toyota/md_corolla/
http://www.pakwheels.com/used-cars/search/-/mk_Toyota/md_Corolla/
http://www.pakwheels.com/used-cars/search/-/mk_toyota/md_Corolla/
http://www.pakwheels.com/used-cars/search/-/mk_toyota/md_corolla/
all of these 4 URLs serve page with same content. What is the best practice for this issue, is it generating duplication? Please advise

I think you're certainly looking at a duplication issue here.
Bearing in mind I don't know how your site generates pages, there's a couple of things you could do. First of all, I can see that you have a rel=canonical system in place, which is a good start. One option would be to choose the one version of the URL you'd wish to prioritise and then change the canonical on the other version to point to that page. For example, you might want to change the canonical link on -> http://www.pakwheels.com/used-cars/search/-/mk_Toyota/md_Corolla/ to <rel="canonical" href:"<span="">http://www.pakwheels.com/used-cars/search/-/mk_Toyota/md_Corolla/"></rel="canonical">
Alternatively, and what I'd recommend, would be to 301 redirect the URLs to your preferred address, as the pages are serving no extra purpose for the user. Implementing a 301 will stop Google from crawling those pages and therefore flagging up any duplicate content issue.

Is it possible to deindex old URLs that contain duplicate content?
Our client is a recruitment agency and their website used to contain a substantial amount of duplicate content as many of the listed job descriptions were repeated and recycled. As a result, their rankings rarely progress beyond page 2 on Google. Although they have started using more unique content for each listing, it appears that old job listings pages are still indexed so our assumption is that Google is holding down the ranking due to the amount of duplicate content present (one software returned a score of 43% duplicate content across the website). Looking at other recruitment websites, it appears that they block the actual job listings via the robots.txt file. Would blocking the job listings page from being indexed either by robots.txt or by a noindex tag reduce the negative impact of the duplicate content, but also remove any link juice coming to those pages? In addition, expired job listing URLs stay live which is likely to be increasing the overall duplicate content. Would it be worth removing these pages and setting up 404s, given that any links to these pages would be lost? If these pages are removed, is it possible to permanently deindex these URLs? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Duplicate content in Magento
Hi all We got some serious issues with duplicate content on a Magento site that we are marketing. For example: http://www.citcop.se/varmepumpar-luft-luft/panasonic/panasonic-nordic-ce9nke-5-0kw http://www.citcop.se/panasonic/panasonic-nordic-ce9nke-5-0kw http://www.citcop.se/panasonic-nordic-ce9nke-5-0kw All of the above seem to work just fine as it is now but since they are excatly the same product they should ofcourse do a 301 redirect to the main page. Any ideas on how to sort this out in Magnto without having to resort to manual work in .htaccess? Have a great day Fredrik

SEOMoz is indicating I have 40 pages with duplicate content, yet it doesn't list the URL's of the pages???
When I look at the Errors and Warnings on my Campaign Overview, I have a lot of "duplicate content" errors. When I view the errors/warnings SEOMoz indicates the number of pages with duplicate content, yet when I go to view them the subsequent page says no pages were found... Any ideas are greatly welcomed! Thanks Marty K.

Duplicate content
Greetings! I have inherited a problem that I am not sure how to fix. The website I am working on had a 302 redirect from its original home url (with all the link juice) to a newly designed page (with no real link juice). When the 302 redirect was removed, a duplicate content problem remained, since the new page had already been indexed by google. What is the best way to handle duplicate content? Thanks!
