Duplicate Content - Different URLs and Content on each
-
Seeing a lot of duplicate content instances of seemingly unrelated pages. For instance, http://www.rushimprint.com/custom-bluetooth-speakers.html?from=topnav3 is being tracked as a duplicate of http://www.rushimprint.com/custom-planners-diaries.html?resultsperpg=viewall. Does anyone else see this issue? Is there a solution anyone is aware of?

This should also lend some perspective as to why SEOs typically recommend at least 250 unique words per page ... I think with Google paying more attention to Main Content separate from supplemental, etc. code uniqueness may be less relevant than it has been in the past... but overall, you should still strive to ensure your pages have a clear distinct purpose/value conveyed by the main content of the page that is easily distinguishable from other pages of your site.

Hi there!
Jo here from the MOZ help team, just jumping in to say that Moz Pro has a 90% tolerance for duplicate content, which means it will flag any content that has 90% of the same code between pages. This includes all the source code on the page and not just the viewable text.
You can run your own tests using this tool: http://smallseotools.com/similar-page-checker. In the case of http://www.rushimprint.com/custom-planners-diaries.html?resultsperpg=viewall and http://www.rushimprint.com/custom-bluetooth-speakers.html?from=topnav3, these pages are 97% similar, which is why they're being flagged.
I would recommend reading through these Q&A threads with similar queries regarding duplicate content on ecommerce sites:

There are more in-depth explanations of common answers to duplicate content on this page, if you're curious: https://moz.com/learn/seo/duplicate-content
I hope this helps explain, if there is anything else I can help you with please do let me know.
Cheers!

Hey thanks for responding. Seeing this in the site crawl tool in Moz under High Priority duplicate page content. Similar errors on 2,000+ other listings.

This shouldn't be the case, as these page have unique content and are referenced with unique canonical URLs.
Where are you seeing this as duplicate content?

Query Strings causing Duplicate Content
I am working with a client that has multiple locations across the nation, and they recently merged all of the location sites into one site. To allow the lead capture forms to pre-populate the locations, they are using the query string /?location=cityname on every page. EXAMPLE - www.example.com/product www.example.com/product/?location=nashville www.example.com/product/?location=chicago There are thirty locations across the nation, so, every page x 30 is being flagged as duplicate content... at least in the crawl through MOZ. Does using that query string actually cause a duplicate content problem?

Duplicate Content Question
I have a client that operates a local service-based business. They are thinking of expanding that business to another geographic area (a drive several hours away in an affluent summer vacation area). The name of the existing business contains the name of the city, so it would not be well-suited to market 'City X' business in 'City Y'. My initial thought was to (for the most part) 'duplicate' the existing site onto a new site (brand new root domain). Much of the content would be the exact same. We could re-word some things so there aren't entire lengthy paragraphs of identical info, but it seems pointless to completely reinvent the wheel. We'll get as creative as possible, but certain things just wouldn't change. This seems like the most pragmatic thing to do given their goals, but I'm worried about duplicate content. It doesn't feel as though this is spammy though, so I'm not sure if there's cause for concern.

Add translated content on different domain or not?
Hello, I currently have my dutch website in the domain of my country. Quite good SEO positions are there for this language. Now, i'd like to translate my full site to english, my target group would go over the whole world because i'm delivering an online service. Therefore, I don't think it's good to have this on my country domain? I have an identic .EU domain that's never been used (currently redirecting). What's the best choice? What are the + and - ? Could this have any effect on my current positions in dutch (homecountry domain) ? Thanks!

Duplicate Content Issue
SEOMOZ is giving me a number of duplicate content warnings related to pages that have an email a friend and/or email when back in stock versions of a page. I thought I had those blocked via my robots.txt file which contains the following... Disallow: /EmailaFriend.asp Disallow: /Email_Me_When_Back_In_Stock.asp I had thought that the robot.txt file would solve this issue. Anyone have any ideas?

Duplicate content due to csref
Hi, When i go trough my page, i can see that alot of my csref codes result in duplicate content, when SeoMoz run their analysis of my pages. Off course i get important knowledge through my csref codes, but im quite uncertain of how much it effects my SEO-results. Does anyone have any insights in this? Should i be more cautios to use csref-codes or dosent it create problems that are big enough for me to worry about them.

Duplicate Content - That Old Chestnut!!!
Hi Guys, Hope all is well, I have a question if I may? I have several articles which we have written and I want to try and find out the best way to post these but I have a number of concerns. I am hoping to use the content in an attempt to increase the Kudos of our site by providing quality content and hopefully receiving decent back links. 1. In terms of duplicate content should I only post it on one place or should I post the article in several places? Also where would you say the top 5 or 10 places would be? These are articles on XML, Social Media & Back Links. 2. Can I post the article on another blog or article directory and post it on my websites blog or is this a bad idea? A million thanks for any guidance. Kind Regards, C

Issue: Duplicate Pages Content
Hello, Following the setting up of a new campaign, SEOmoz pro says I have a duplicate page content issue. It says the follwoing are duplicates: http://www.mysite.com/ and http://www.mysite.com/index.htm This is obviously true, but is it a problem? Do I need to do anything to avoid a google penalty? The site in question is a static html site and the real page only exsists at http://www.mysite.com/index.htm but if you type in just the domain name then that brings up the same page. Please let me know what if anything I need to do. This site by the way, has had a panda 3.4 penalty a few months ago. Thanks, Colin

Squarespace Duplicate Content Issues
My site is built through squarespace and when I ran the campaign in SEOmoz...its come up with all these errors saying duplicate content and duplicate page title for my blog portion. I've heard that canonical tags help with this but with squarespace its hard to add code to page level...only site wide is possible. Was curious if there's someone experienced in squarespace and SEO out there that can give some suggestions on how to resolve this problem? thanks
