Is it OK to shorten your brand name in your title tags

If your title tag is over 55 characters, is it generally OK or good practice to abbreviate your brand name (at the end of the title tag) for the sake of the other keywords in the tag?

Well i think that the answer to this question is really simple...
User.. User.. User... Do you think that putting the brand name at the end of each title will add a value?
Or will it increase CTR?
Does your brand that much well-known and popular that you believe that if you add it to the title your CTR will sky-rocket?If you can answer yes to one of these questions, i think you should do it.. otherwise i am not sure
In terms of SEO, you will gain absolutely nothing (well but if it increases your CTR.. you might get more rank boost from google)P.S.: google is running a test to increase the serp area from 500px to 600px.Â
which roughly translates into 70char increase from 55.. -

Personally, I am all about adding your brand to the end of your title tag if your brand is not already associated with your product/services. However, if you are already ranking well for your brand i.e. You show up first for branded searches like Pepsi .com showing up when Pepsi Cola is searched, then I don't think it's necessary to have your brand in all of the titles on each page. Just include it in your about page or something to that effect.
With regards to abbreviating your business's name, Unless your business is commonly referred to as the abbreviated version of your name, I wouldn't include it in the Title. Also, if you have a long business name, I think it's more enticing to write a compelling title that includes keywords than it is to include your brand name.
How does this affect SEO? It really doesn't. There is no bias for branded titles. See this blog post by Rand on Search Engine Land.

Brand name in title?
Hi all, I have noticed that a lot of companies put there brand/company name at the end of their page title. To me, that seems like a huge sacrifice of your limited 60 characters. Wouldn't it be better to use characters for words that people might actually be searching for?

Is there any benefit to removing brand name from the title tag?
I just signed up for Moz recently, and have noticed that in my crawl errors, I have hundreds of issues with my title tag being too long. My business is selling prints for landscape/travel/nature photography, and I've built these pages dynamically to where the title tag for pages selling individual photos has the title of the photo for sale followed by a hyphen and then the brand name. The same goes for gallery pages "Gallery Name | Brand Name". Would it be worth it to shorten the title tags by removing the brand name from these pages? Or will that actually harm more than help? What are "stop" words in Title Tags?
My client is following his GoDaddy SEO Checklist, and it is reporting 5 errors in Title Tags, saying the Titles contain "stop" words. I can't figure out what these are. Any ideas?

Category page canonical tag
I know this question has been asked a few times on here but I'm looking for very specific advice. Currently when you go to a category, say http://www.bronterose.co.uk/range.html, a canonical tag is added to the head of the page. There are plenty of "variant" pages which carry the same tag, for example: /range.html?p=2

/range.html?dir=asc&limit=all&order=price Is it wise to push the "link juice" for each of these variant pages to the top level page? Or should each variant page have its own unique canonical tag? Duplicate Title and Meta Description Tags in Shopify with this App
Hello. I'm finding that by adding the Ultra SEO app in Shopify, I now have duplicates of the Title tags and Meta Descriptions. It looks like it's pulling title tags from the Shop info, the product or page titles as well as the Title tag I add in Ultra SEO. The website is 1bigcookie.com. The duplicate meta descriptions are from the text I entered in the meta description field in Ultra SEO. I entered the canonical url code shopify specifies to help with duplicate content, but what about duplicate title and meta description tags on the same page?

H1 tag in the footer?
Quick question: I have been scouring SEOMoz.org along with webmaster forums looking for an answer, but we have a person who insists that the H1 tag be located in the Footer. I feel that is is fundamentally wrong because it is not the intent of the H1 tag, and I do not believe it is a best practice. That being said would we see what little value the H1 tag has disappear if we put it in the footer, would we be penalized, or am I being too vanilla by wanting to keep it in the Title position?
