Monthly Ranking Comparisons on Custom Reports
-
Hi,
We run MONTHLY Moz custom reports that compares rankings from the previous month, but some of the data just doesn't make sense.
As an example, in the previous month’s report our ranking for “keyword X” was #3, when we look at the current month’s report our ranking for “keyword X” is still #3, but it shows that it’s gone up by 3 positions.
This position change is not true if you compare to the previous month’s report! How can we know what dates we are comparing against?
All the best, Lee.

Thanks, Tawny. I'll email them now

Hi Lee! Tawny from Moz's Customer Support team here.
Hm - that does sound potentially confusing! With this type of issue, it's easiest for us to investigate if you write in directly to help@moz.com with all the details of your campaign and what you're seeing. That way we can take a look at the same things you're seeing and help figure out what's going on.
I'd encourage you to write in to us at help@moz.com with all the details of this situation, and we'll do our best to answer all your questions!

Lee,
One of my favorite tools is Agency Analytics, which is excellent for tracking keywords. It updates daily, so you get very accurate reports, and it's very simple to use. You can also track the keywords from the date you entered them, this is great for our team, since we can show ranking increases since we started a campaign.
I would suggest trying them out, it's pretty helpful.
Chris

What units are the Monthly Volume numbers in?
When a monthly volume is displayed, (e.g. 501-850 - see attachment), what are the units for those numbers? Is it thousands? Millions? fark_RSyR7jfXjuBP_cZlRzc2w9NHtbE.png?AWSAccessKeyId=HBAYEKZHGUB4NAYQBVSQ&Expires=1557720000&Signature=9abIq7smOO%2Fdt%2Bb5bZWUkhl%2BVYA%3D

Keyword Ranking Report is Different than Real Result on Google
Hi Guys,
Moz Bar | | KanikaG
I am getting MOZ reports on a few keywords and that is good But when My client search for the same keywords he doesn't get the same rank, not even on that page. Let me explain in more details:
I have a keyword that shows on rank #5 in Google Mobile for a Local location for the current week. The client is from the same location as well. But when client search for that keyword from his mobile he doesn't get the keyword listed on that page, not even on other pages. I checked with other online keyword rank checker tool and all are showing the result similar to the Moz ranking report. It's really frustrating for my client. Google analytics shows that mobile users and organic reach are increasing so I am sure MOZ and other tools are showing us correct result. What could be the possible reason that he is not getting the same result as showing by MOZ? I am not from his location so how can I check the keyword result for the selected city using MOZ that is accurate? Any help would be highly appreciated. Please help. Thanks1 -
What do you do when there is significant movement when checking a Ranking & Algorithm tracking tool?
I've checked various Ranking & Algorithm tracking tools (SEMrush, Mozcast etc.) and since 12th Jan 18 there has been a lot of 'turbulence' in terms predicted Google algorithm changes. This has been 'high' for the past 2 weeks. Question is, would you 'hang tight and ride the wave' or 'act fast'? Our actual rankings haven't really been affected positively or negatively - so I'm thinking I should just ride the wave to see what happens but keep a close eye on the rankings?

Moz Keyword Tool Monthly Volume
Ive recently put together a Keyword List of about 100 keywords on the Moz Keyword Explorer tool. One keyword, aerial filming, stood out as very low search volume of 51 - 100. I took the same 100 keywords and passed them through the Google Keyword Planner by Google AdWords. Aerial Filming has an average search volume of 1k - 10k according to the Keyword Planner. Even though Keyword Planner gives me a range of 1k - 10k, the lowest number is still 10 times higher than what the Moz Keyword Explorer was indicating. This drastic difference of volume was consistent across all 100 keywords. All of the Monthly Volume numbers were divided by 10. Why does Moz Keyword Tool display a search volume that is 10x less than what Google Keyword Planner is suggesting?

Should I be concerned our FWE Mentions report shows tons of non-relevant results?
Our brand name also happens to be a common German word and when I ran FWE for the first time this week, I was surprised to see hundreds of returns for the German word rather than our brand name. Does this affect our SEO in anyway and if so, what can we do to mitigate this? Appreciate any insights! Thanks in advance.

How can I print out the keyword ranking chart?
I have been working diligently on these keywords. Not a lot of them but trying to get very specific. I have one that has traditionally been very high for our site and in one day it dropped from 2 to past 50+ when I reviewed the history I was unable to find any place to print or download the graph for the history or any place to print a report for our keyword rankings.

MOZ Onpage grade and Google ranking.
I have found for years that there is not necessarily any connection between the onpage given by Moz and the SEO ranking. "F" page can be #1 in Google for long periods of time, and "A" pages can be unranked. I do not see the consistency, so I am unsure how much time to spend optimizing as suggested. I know there are many factors in rankings, but I just wanted to point out that this lack of consistency makes me hesitate to make changes to well-ranking pages -- especially with algorithm changes happening all the time. It seems that everything is considered over-optimization of late, even if it is all natural language. It is hard to NOT use words or synonyms sometimes on pages, for example... Thank you for your great product. I just want to know how my time to spend on this matter or turn my attention to off-page factors where the inconsistency is hard to figure out.

On Page reporting Issue
Hi I’ve recently downloaded my onpage analysis report for our site http://www.health2000.co.nz . The column that is titled “Missing data description Tag” says false, which I’m assuming means the meta description is present. However in the column titled “meta _description tag” there is no meta description present (nor is any meta description in the backend of my site. Could someone please explain why this would occur? I look forward to hearing from you Regards Pete
