Why does the Keyword Difficulty Tool shows no Search Volume?
-
I've run a full report in many keywords on the Keyword Difficulty Tool, but in the Search Volume field all of them have the message "not enough data". Screenshot attached.
Why is that? I have keywords like "magnesium" that popular and have quite some traffic.
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Hi everyone,
Local and global volume data still don't seem available for me... Is this still due to the situation described here?
Does this mean that for each keyword one would have to enter it in the Google adwords keyword tool?
Thanks for your much needed help on this matter
Greetings,
Fries

I did the same thing. They should have a note on the page so were not wasting our time digging around trying to get it to work.

Hi Everyone!
Thank you for bringing this up, this is definitely a great question indeed Bernard was correct that our API access has been revoked by Google late last year in 2012. While our talks are always continuous with Google about obtaining that volume data back, our difficulties calculations and SERP collection is done independent of the API volume data In the mean time you can stil obtain your volume data directly from Google Adwords API, since they have an agreement with you!
Hope that helps!
Best,
Peter

Yes, I use market samurai, but it wasn't working right this week. Just a few minutes ago I entered there and it was working again.

I see, thanks for the clarification!
It doesn't look like it will be fixed so soon so what's the best place to see the potential traffic of a keyword? Going directly to Google Adwords?

Hi Bernard
Don't worry. I guess since August 2012 Moz has some access issues to Google Adwords API. Hope the team is building a better replacement for this.

Whether this is a good informational keyword (for ads)
Hello, Learning about informational keywords. Is Nikola Tesla (300K-1M) a good informational keyword considering I'd only be (at the highest) on the 2nd page? There's no ads and I'm competing against big players, but the 2nd page has opportunities for ranking. I've been studying this guy a long time. Don't know if it's will bring ad revenue. What about chemtrails (118k-300k)

Tools for editorial organizations?
Other than google trends, are there tools a publication could give its writers to help them optimize their articles. Sometimes these articles are very newsy pieces, sometimes they are more evergreen features. In other words, if they're writing a story about the Greek Debt Crisis, I'd love to give them a tool that would suggest the language that is trending most at the moment and then, as the story evolves, identify the language that would be important then. Are there tools to help with this?

No longer in top 100 for branded keyword - How!?
Got a weird one here... Won't give away actual URL but for this example let's say client's site is: www.purplebananas.com Many of the longtail keyword-targeted subpages/posts are still ranking pretty well. We recently went through and optimized the site based on poor scores we found from crawl reports from SEO Moz, which included renaming some sub-pages, eliminating duplicate content pages, archives, etc (it's a wordpress site, about 4 years old). This site used to rank at the top or near it for the search "purple bananas". However, after we optimized the site it's almost completely fallen off the radar of Google, turns up way over 100 for the search "purple bananas". Strangely, if we search "purplebananas" we're at the top still. Any idea what's going on here? Are we potentially over-optimized or something weird for our own brand!? Any troubleshooting tips? FWIW the changes were made about 6 weeks ago and while we're steadily building links, I don't think this is the standard "Google dance". Thanks!

Link not showing up in OSE
I created a profile in April this year on CrunchBase for my company http://www.crunchbase.com/company/wallpapered but it is not appearing in the "inbound links" of Open Site Explorer. All the other companies I have checked in OSE have their CrunchBase profile in their inbound links (many share the same Page authority as mine). Any suggestions would be really helpful. Thanks

Can I calculate "Keyword Difficulty" metric using Mozscape API data?
We already have a web application that pulls certain metrics about websites using the Mozscape API, but we are wanting to extend the usefulness of this application to enable users of the app to pull "Keyword Difficulty" metrics in bulk, instead of one at a time (or 5 at a time). I wouldn't mind the 5 at a time limitation if we could just automate the API calls and let the tool pull data for 50 or so keywords without user-interaction. I know that it's a "formula", but I don't know what SEOMoz uses for it's formula. Has anyone figured out a way to calculate this, based on the Mozscape API data? Has anyone ever tried to reverse engineer this metric?

Significance of SEOmoz`s keyword difficulty
Hello everybody, currently, I am working on a project that will be available in multiple languages. My problem concerns the difference of the German and English language in relation to the SEOmoz`s Keyword difficulty (KWD). I just finished my German keyword research and got a satisfying collection of keywords I can use according to the KWD, page/ domain authority, Backlinks and Onpage-check. Now, as I am doing my research for the English market I find it hard to find any appropriate keywords with a satisfying KWD. I imagined the ranking on the English market to be much harder but now I doubt to ever rank for any useful, effective keyword on my list, because most of them are over 70 (some important over 80). According to the research it seems to have something to do with the authority strength of the pages, trust, etc, because they do not have more backlinks. Since they are query independent it is very hard for me to get a feeling for those metrics (I am new at SEO). So here are my questions: Due to your experiences, is it even possible to derank such pages or should I simply save the effort? How significant is the SEOmoz`s KWD? Would you always do Onpage optimization (text, internal linking) in case you earn more trust, authority, etc in the future, just to have your site optimized on the best keyword possible, even though you know that you cannot rank for that keyword (Cue: User-experience)? Or would you switch to less significant words (e.g. flashcards -> index cards) where you have a chance to rank but which is not that effective with traffic? Or focus on longtail, if possible? Many thanks
