H1 on responsive pages - Not enough room
-
Hi everyone,
I'm running a Real Estate site, and I'm wondering how to deal with H1 for a responsive version for my search results.
My first idea is to have a dynamic H1 that changes according to the filters that are being used, for instance:
140 Apartments on Sale at Miami Beach with 2 bedrooms, so I just used 4 filters
Now the problem arrives if a mobile user comes around, I can't show him the same H1 since I don't have enough room for it. Do you guys think it might be a problem if I just show that H1 just in html and not on the user sight?, or perhaps there is a way to switch the H1 whenever the responsive version is active or not.
Any help would be much appreciated it.

The solution to this doesn't need to be complicated. You should keep the H1 in place across all devices. To do so, set H1 size using EM, rather than the more traditional PX. Em is a scalable unit. An em is equal to the current font-size, for instance, if the font-size of the document is 12pt, 1em is equal to 12pt. Ems are scalable in nature, so 2em would equal 24pt, .5em would equal 6pt, etc. Ems are scalable and, therefore, mobile-friendly.
I hope that helps.

Hey there JoaoCJ, personally I would recommend trying to keep the H1 on both sites, I would imagine it would be better for mobile users and the mobile indexation of the site to have it.
If you are worried it is too big I adapt the H1 css to make it not as big or prominent to ensure it fits the look and feel you want for mobile users.

Thousands of 404-pages, duplicate content pages, temporary redirect
Hi, i take over the SEO of a quite large e-commerce-site. After checking crawl issues, there seems to be +3000 4xx client errors, +3000 duplicate content issues and +35000 temporary redirects. I'm quite desperate regarding these results. What would be the most effective way to handle that. It's a magento shop. I'm grateful for any kind of help! Thx,

301 redirect all 404 pages
Hi I would like to have a second opinion on this. I am working on an ecommerce website that they 301 redirect all 404 pages (including the URLs entered incorrectly) to the “All categories page”. Will this have any negative SEO impact?

2 links on home page to each category page ..... is page rank being watered down?
I am working on a site that has a home page containing 2 links to each category page. One of the links is a text link and one link is an image link. I think I'm right in thinking that Google will only pay attention to the anchor text/alt text of the first link that it spiders with the anchor text/alt text of the second being ignored. This is not my question however. My question is about the page rank that is passed to each category page..... Because of the double links on the home page, my reckoning is that PR is being divided up twice as many times as necessary. Am I also right in thinking that if Google ignore the 2nd identical link on a page only one lot of this divided up PR will be passed to each category page rather than 2 lots ..... hence horribly watering down the 'link juice' that is being passed to each category page?? Please help me win this argument with a developer and improve the ranking potential of the category pages on the site 🙂

Some SEOs might say that there is no such thing as too much good content. Do you try to limit the words on a page to under a certain number for any reason?
