Does anybody else here use the Guest Blog It site?
I have tried submitting an article but it's telling me that it's 47% duplicate content. I have ran it through 2 plagiarism checkers and they both said it was 100% unique. I have tried contacting the site directly about this but as of yet have had no response. I was just wondering if anybody on here knows what they use to check for duplicate content so I can take a look and amend my article.
Thanks

Hi Keri,
I've used Small SEO Tools too, and have found that it doesn't pick up on everything. Copyscape and Duplichecker are the 2 best in my opinion. I think it would be good if SEOmoz have a duplicate content checker for PRO members.

I don't know what they use, but one tool I've used is http://smallseotools.com/plagiarism-checker/. That tool can have false positives if there are a lot of quotation marks used in the text.
Could you ask them for even just one example of where it is said to be duplicate and investigate that?
Did you write the article, or have it written for you? Is there a chance that there is spun content involved perhaps?

We've tried Guest Blog It but have not had much success either. I'd recommend you try:
- My Guest Blog http://myblogguest.com/
- http://www.bloggerlinkup.com/
Either way, whichever you use, be sure you look over each opportunity carefully. This free eBook has a really good guide to check out each guest blogging opportunity (or linkback). http://www.analyticsseo.com/optimising-post-penguin-world-ebook
By the way, I'm not affiliated with any of these recommendations. Just comes from personal experience.
Good luck to you!

Links from my Own Blog to my Own Website and Link Scheme
Hi There, I use my own blog to give advices and offer information related to my business service. Of course in terms of SEO my blog is useful not only to expand my brand presence but also to acquire long-tail traffic. I use to insert a maximum of one link with a relative matching anchor text in every article of my blog pointing to my own webpage. Said that, the questions are as follows: Am I involuntarily participating in a Link Scheme with my blog? And If so, how many links can I send to my own webpage ? Shall I limit the number of links to a minimum? Thanks a lot for your advices.

Beyond Guest Blogging, What Else Works Now?
Given the importance of editorial links & co-citation, beyond guest blogging what other high-value link-building tactics should I be looking at to boost organic search placings? Specifically, in Apr 2013 is there still mileage in directories (such as these on the SEOMoz list) or on this GetListed list; or in placing content on social sites such as Squidoo?

Should we imitate our competitor's blog network?
One of our competitors has built a little blog network, and I'm wondering if it's worth it for us to imitate it. Here's how they have it set up: They have domain.com, their e-commerce site, and blog.domain.com. They also have a half-dozen EMD blogs set up that all link to each other and to the e-commerce site, each one supplying content related to one niche of their busines (e.g. kitchenwidgets.com, widgetsforkids.com, etc.). It seems they've been doing this since December 2011. In my opinion, the content on these EMD blogs is pretty low value. Sure enough, they have basically no inbound links from outside the blog network, and it's not getting shared socially. I'm having a hard time imagining a lot of long-tail searches that would bring in qualified shoppers, since they basically just write up 300-word long descriptions of photos. Based on SEMrush data, it doesn't look like this approach is hurting them -- they didn't take a Penguin dive in April, for example. But how likely is it that this approach is helping them enough to justify the time they must spend writing (probably ~30-60m a day)? It would be trivial for the algo to determine that these are not natural links and completely devalue them. Would it not be better to consolidate that time into 2.5-5hrs a week spent researching and writing a valuable, link-worthy, long-tail-rich post for the main blog and then promoting it in hopes of attracting natural links?
