Redirect issue

http://www.themorrisagency.co.uk/wedding-band redirects to http://www.themorrisagency.co.uk/wedding-band-cost-much-hire/
NO canonical in place. Nothing in Htaccess. I cant think where else to look to find it.
If I amend it to http://www.themorrisagency.co.uk/we it still redirects.
Any ideas? I have spent way too long on it now

Hello!
Were you able to fix it? To sum up the other answers, this could be a few things:
-
a redirect in your .htaccess file
-
a redirect in a plugin (yoast, or a separate redirects plugin - some plugins even create redirects automatically)
-
or autogenerated by your theme/wordpress
I would work in that order looking for it,

Thank you

It is definitely a Wordpress issue. Take a look at your functions.php file for your theme. You can add some code to turn off this feature.
If you have this feature on, which it usually is by default, it will redirect to the closest matching URL. Like so:
https://www.example.com/contact
will redirect to
https://www.example.com/contact-us (the actual page URL)
remove_filter('template_redirect', 'redirect_canonical'); is the code you need to add to the functions.php. But make sure you read up on it before disabling it, as it does have some benefits.

This is built-in functionality in Wordpress, matching closest existing URL.

Duplicate Content and Other Issues from Blog Tags and Categories
I have recently taken over the maintenance/redesign of our website and after setting up Moz I see many errors:
On-Page Optimization | | jgoethert
Duplicate content
Missing descriptions
Duplicate titles
etc. All are related to blog categories and tags. My questions are: are these errors hurting us? Should I simply remove tags/categories from the sitemaps or bite the bullet and create content for every single category page? Our site is https://financiallysimple.com/ and we are using Yoast plugin in Wordpress (if that helps)2 -
Redirect and Redirect Error in Moz Crawl
Hello, We have a wordpress blog attached to our magento website located at domain.co.uk/blog/ Moz was coming back showing we had multiple page versions on show (http and https) So i updated the htaccess file to what is below. This has fixed most of the errors, however the homepage is being a little tricky. Moz is now saying that the page is redirecting and redirecting again http://www.domain.co.uk/blog to

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /blog/index.php [L] END WordPress Within wordpress settings the urls are set up as follows Wordpress Address URL: https://www.domain.co.uk/blog Site Address URL: https://www.domain.co.uk/blog i tried to add a trailing / to these but it gets automatically removed. So i am assuming that wordpress is serving up https://www.domain.co.uk/blog **RewriteBase /blog/ **is re-directing it to / then my https rewrite is re-directing it again I am not sure where exactly to fix this, could anybody advise? Many thanks,0 -
To redirect or not to redirect...That is the question
We have old product data that is being updated (approx 30k sku's). Most of the old pages have been indexed and drive the majority of our online sales. But, the updated products have different titles, H1's, etc and have been re-formatted for the better in terms of usability. So, should we redirect thousands of pages to the new pages? Will Google be ok with that?...or should we reformat the current url's with the new data? And, if we reformat current url's with new data...the fear is that the on-page elements that the pages are being pick up for will get wiped out, (be it the H1 in some cases or the title or alt tag for another, etc) because it's simply too much to retain them during the import. Using a lightbox - possible duplicate content issues
Redesigning website in Wordpress and going to use the following lightbox plug-in http://www.pedrolamas.pt/projectos/jquery-lightbox/ Naming the original images that appear on screen as say 'sweets.jpg'
On-Page Optimization | | Jon-C
and the bigger version of the images as 'sweets-large.jpg' Alt text wise I would give both versions of the images slightly different descriptions. Do you think there would be any duplicate content issues with this? Anything I should do differently? I'm very wary of doing anything that Google is likely to think is naughty, so want to stay on their good side! Cheers

Building content pages, redirecting and linking
Previously the company had created some .HTML content pages around top shoe styles and top manufactures. One or two of these pages used to rank but have been neglected over the page 18 months. I want to build out new content round our top styles / top manufactures and I am wondering if I should use the existing HTML pages or create new pages that use our content management system. The .HTML pages can contain keywords in the URL, using our content management system, all URL’s are www.site.com/content/home/contentid=1234abcd. If we use the .HTML pages all content is managed manually. If we build out 6 to 10 pages, this can become a resource issue and may result in a bad experience for the website visitor. From an SEO perspective, does the benefit of having the keywords in the URL outweigh the manual management hassles? And if not, should we 301 all the HTML pages to the new content pages? And from a linking standpoint, I want these content pages to point to the new version of the top style. From a navigation standpoint, we also want to provide access to all styles from the manufacture. Should we nofollow the links to all styles?

Are duplicate titles an issue for pages I don't need ranking for?
A client has a load of duplicate page titles on their site. However, to cut a long story short, most of these pages are pointless and therefore we don't need ranking for them. As such, I'm not concerned whether any of the pages with duplicate content on them are ranked or not..... unless having duplicate page titles / content on these pages could mean that other pages on the site, like the homepage, don't rank as high because of this. Do I need to worry about duplicate titles on these pages, or can I ignore duplicate content on pages that I don't want to be ranked? Hope that makes sense!
