Is this a true rel=nofollow for the whole article? "printfriendly.com" is part of the URL which is why I'm confused.
-
Is the rel=nofollow tag on this article a true NoFollow for the whole article (and all the external links to other sites in the article), or is it just for a specific part of the page?
Here is the article: https://www.aplaceformom.com/blog/americans-are-not-ready-for-retirement/
The reason I ask is that I'm confused about the code since it has "printfriendly.com..." as a portion of the URL. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Paul,
Thank you! Yes, I realized I could use the Moz bar to highlight the links that were followed and no followed and came to the same conclusion. Thanks for your insight!

That nofollow link only applies to that one specific link, dk. The site is using a special service to help create a printer-friendly version of the page for those that might want to print out the content. Quite correctly, they've nofollowed that one particular link.
The website's own page URL only appears in the external link to the printfriendly site because it is a parameter that needs to be passed so the print site will know what page to provide the printout of.
So no, that nofollow definitely does NOT apply to the whole article.
Make sense?

Hi there!
I do not know what you mean by a true nofollow link.
What i can see is that there are 6 nofollow tags in that page, what means that google bot will not go from that page to those other in the href tag with nofollow.Remember that Nofollow tag is an invention in order to control spammy pages and/or links to other pages that webmasters do not want to link.
Google information is very usefull: Use rel="nofollow" for specific links - Search Console Help.Hope it helps.
Best luck.

How handle pages with "read more" text query strings?
My site has hundreds of keyword content landing pages that contain one or two sections of "read more" text that work by calling the page and changing a ChangeReadMore variable. This causes the page to currently get indexed 5 times (see examples below plus two more with anchor tag set to #sectionReadMore2 This causes Google to include the first version of the page which is the canonical version and exclude the other 4 versions of the page. Google search console says my site has 4.93K valid pages and 13.8K excluded pages. My questions are: 1. Does having a lot of excluded pages which are all copies of included pages hurt my domain authority or otherwise hurt my SEO efforts? 2. Should I add a rel="nofollow" attribute to the read more link? If I do this will Google reduce the number of excluded pages? 3. Should I instead add logic so the canonical tag displays the exact URL each time the page re-displays in another readmore mode? I assume this would increase my "included pages" and decrease the number of "excluded pages". Would this somehow help my SEO efforts? Main vs Pointing URL Confusion
Hi, I have a new website that deals with 3 very similar businesses The main purpose of the website is to assist the consumer to search, compare and book chaffered transportation online. The 3 businesses are taxi cab hire, limo hire, party bus hire. My main domain is www.mytaxicab.co.za. I also own the domains mylimo.co.za and mypartybus.co.za. My question is, from a best practice SEO perspective, how should I set this up. Should I have one main site www.mytaxicab.co.za and have the 2 other niche domain names point in eg user types www.mypartybus.co.za and lands on www.mytaxicab.co.za/party-bus-hire or is there a better way? Any help or insite would be appreciated

"Spam emails" : ranking drop?
Hello, Is it possible that a website gets penalised by Google because your hosting company blocked you from sending emails? Basically I got a message from my hosting company saying that they were blocking me from sending emails from our server and domain because too many had mistakes or were complained about. The same day we dropped from 2nd on a keyword to about 600th while still being ranked for other keywords. The drop was for our main keyword. Can the fact we sent “bad emails” be related to a rank drop? For the record, those were confiormation emails for account creation, they were legit, not spam. That's off-topic though.

Do any short url's pass link juice? googles own? twitters?
I've read a few posts saying not shorten links at all but we have a lot to tweet and need to. Is googles shortener the best option? I've considered linking to the category index page the article is on and expect the user to find the article and click on the article, I don't like the experience that creates though. I've considered making the article permalink tiny but I would lose the page title being in the url. Is this the best option?
