Is a short URL path stronger than a long one for an eshop?
-
Hello Moz Fans !
I'm building an eshop website and reviewing a few competitors website I found something interesting on which I don't have the full answer.
Will it be better for me to organize the products in sub folder or in the root folder (option 1 or option 2)
_Competitor link _shop.com/en/2628-buy-key-origin-the-sims-4-seasons/
Option 1 - Normal organization
_+ _We can add relevant KW in /products/
- product url will be one folder deep more
-
home/
-
home/category/ (category page)
-
home/category/subcategory1
-
home/category/subcategory2
-
home/products (this page does not exist really)
-
home/products/product1
-
home/products/product2
Option 2 - less folders
_+ _We can add all KW in the link directly
- it may be less organize for Google
-
home/
-
home/category/ (category page)
-
home/category/subcategory1
-
home/category/subcategory2
-
home/product1 (all product in the direct folders)
-
home/product2
-
Hello!
For product URLs I would go with the "flat" structure and just do shop.com/product-name (Option 2)

What to do with existing URL when replatforming and new URL is the same?
We are changing CMS from WordPress to Uberflip. If there is a URL that remains the same I believe we should not create a redirect. However, what happens to the old page? Should it be deleted?

We don't want to redirect to a different page, as some people still use it, we just don't want it to appear in search

One landing page or many?
I can not understand which is the best way to target similar keywords. Do the best way is create landingpage for each long tail keyword landing page or better one but with all included keywords? On the siste i have landingpages: 1. Metal doors 1.2. Steel doors for private houses 1.3. Durvis 1.4 Metal doors for technical rooms and so on. In Latvian language it sounds ok. Some time ago for other sites it worked good but now it just does not work. I see google meses these results up and seo performance is bad. Can you suggest correct structure? I have multiple URLs that redirect to the same website. Is this an issue?
I have multiple URLs that all lead to the same website. Years ago they were purchased and were sitting dormant. Currently they are 301 redirects and each of the URLs feed to different areas of my website. Should I be worried about losing authority? And if so, is there a better way to do this?

How do I deindex url parameters
Google indexed a bunch of our URL parameters. I'm worried about duplicate content. I used the URL parameter tool in webmaster to set it so future parameters don't get indexed. What can I do to remove the ones that have already been indexed? For example, Site.com/products and site.com/products?campaign=email have both been indexed as separate pages even though they are the same page. If I use a no index I'm worried about de indexing the product page. What can I do to just deindexed the URL parameter version? Thank you!

Shorter URLs
Hi Is there a real value in having the keywords in the URL structure? we could use the URL: Mybrand.com/software/tablets/ipad/supertrader.html Or instead have the CMS create the shorter version mybrand.com/supertrader.html and just optimize this page for the keyword 'supertrader ipad software'
