PWA for Desktop Site (Ecommerce)
-
Hi Folks,
Need guidance about using PWA on desktop site. As I know PWA is basically used for mobile site to engage visitor more and let them surf your site like an app.
Would it be good SEO practice to use PWA on desktop site(E-commerce site) by calling everything through Javascript and let google Crawler cache only site logo and Hide everything else?

Hi Rajesh,
Based on what you've described, it sounds like a desktop PWA could be a good way to go! But I would avoid hiding any content from Google crawlers. Instead, check out these articles for some guidelines on how to optimize a PWA site for SEO:

Also, be aware that PWAs are not supported by all browsers, so before you go forward with that approach and ditch a regular website, make sure you look into what browsers your customers are using and ensure that all browsers which are used by a significant percentage of your audience have a supported experience. Hope this helps!

Thanks for your response. I totally agree with you about clocking. But my question is about using PWA for an E-commerce site? like Flipkart using it?
-
As per my experience, Google want to crawl each and everything which visitors are consuming. Showing different types of content for Google bot (or hide) and normal visitors termed as clocking. Google loves to penalize website using clocking practice.
So my Recommendation is to avoid hiding anything from Google & suggest you to use simple dev or html5 based website instead of JS to make Bots life bit easier.
On a side note, your website will not be rank if you hide the content.

Redirect chains after a site migration
Hi A clients site was originally canonicalised to the www. from the non www versions Now its migrating to an international config of www.domain.com/uk and www.domain.com/us with the existing pages/urls (such as www.domain.com/pageA) 301'd to the new www.domain.com/uk/pageA for example Will this will create a 301 redirect chain due to the existence of the original canonicalised urls or is the way that works 'catch all' so to speak, and automatically update the canonical 301 redirects of the non www old architexcture url's to the new international architecture URL's ? I presume so but just want to check ? cheers dan

Duplicate Content within Site
I'm very new here... been reading a lot about Panda and duplicate content. I have a main website and a mobile site (same domain - m.domain.com). I've copied the same text over to those other web pages. Is that okay? Or is that considered duplicate content?

Google not visiting my site
Hi my site www.in2town.co.uk which is a lifestyle magazine has gone under a major refit. I am still working on it but it should be ready by the end of this week or sooner but one problem i have is, google is not visiting the site. I took a huge gamble to redo the site, even though before the refit i was getting a few thousand visitors a day, i wanted to make the site better as i was getting google webmaster errors. But now it seems google is not visiting the site. for example i am using sh404sef and i have put friendly url in the site and on the home page it has its name and meta tag but when you look at google it is not giving the site a name. Also it has not visited the site since october 13th Can anyone advise how to encourage google to visit the site please.

301 redirect on the root of the site
Due to some historic difficulties with our URL Rewriter, we are in the position of having the root of our site 301 redirected to another page. So the root of our site: http://www.propertylive.co.uk/ has a 301 redirect to: http://www.propertylive.co.uk/home.aspx We're aware that this isn't great and we're working to fix this completely, but what impact will this have on our SEO?
