Does building backlinks help improve Google rankings? If so which links work nowadays?
-
Hi Guys,
Please only reply of you have real experience....
So as the title implies does building backlinks work in improving the rankings in Google? I know they are not on the same level as some are spammy, in blog networks etc but how about other backlinks that are of higher quality? If yes, what sorts of backlinks work nowadays in boosting rankings but not risking getting penalized?
So should you build backlinks ongoing? If so how many per month? I have a real struggle trying to get backlinks on really high quality sites. Any advice?
Cheers
John

So as the title implies does building backlinks work in improving the rankings in Google? At the end of the day, Google is just a crawler who follow and classify links/ web pages. Links still matter, what has been changed is the way Google evaluate those links but still are one of the primaries sources to Google.
But how about other backlinks that are of higher quality? Well build backlinks is one of the most time-consuming tasks these days on the SEO world, is not something that you make after ending the On-page optimization. In fact, in my case, it is a Full time tasks with its own budget, tools, schedules, providers, and calendar. So a simple example for that if I want to build a backlink for a page a do not just send an email for outreach ( that is for newbies) I have been built my own database with categories, tags, niche, topic, requirements ( every webmaster/blogger has its own requirements)
Tools and services that strongly recommend you
- Buzzstream or Ninjaoutreach
- The Hoth **** -----------> (Link Building Services)
- Authority Builders ** --> **(Link Building Services)
- Gotch SEO ** ----------> (Link Building Services)**
So if you have the budget and the resource the best way to do it is create the content lets take an example. You want to launch an article about "how to make money online". The first thing that you need to do is create an outstanding article ( minimum 3000 words ) and then create an outreach campaign about that specific topic this can be
- _How to make money with Upwork _
- How to make money with affiliate marketing
- _How to make money with Google Adsense _
So basically you need to publish that content on third party websites pointing to your target page "How to make money online" also to keep you safe you need to invest on social signals ( shares and so on) to give credibility to your site (trust). If you keep in mind all the budget required to do that, you will realize that is not cheap or a secondary tasks
These are some basic numbers
- Buzzstream payment --> $99
- Content Broker or Constant Content --> 20 to 50 per article (in the best scenario)
- Infographics or Media Assets --> 20 to 50
- VA for permanently or part-time outreach ----> Depending on the experience can be from 600 to 1500
As you will notice is not cheap or easy and if you want to make it like a pro you really have to start to see it as a project, not as a task.
If you don't have the money, the time or the resources you can use some of the services that I mentioned above such as The Hoth.
Another factor that you need to keep in mind is the competition level of the topic that you want to rank for. A local website for a plumber it's far easy to rank if you compared with an Affiliate website ( in weight loss) or a dropshipping website or even worst a Shopping website
Hope this info will help you

I've always had this question in the back of my mind as well. I'm still new to SEO but here's what I do.
For link building, I usually start with business listings and directories (about 5-10 month), after a few months of those being indexed in Google and Bing. I start with low tier backlinks from WordPress blogs that I created and link to those business links (about x1 500 word article a week). You can try to reach out to people's blogs to post on, but I've never been successful with that.
This may not be the best method, but is this what I do to see keywords more up a few ranks or even pages (depending on how difficult the keyword is).
Hope this helps.

Is this negative SEO? Should I disavow these links?
We have been doing our own internal link building for the last year and getting nice backlinks. As of the last few days, ahrefs is showing a lot of new links that seem very spammy. We have not hired anyone to do link building for us, and these are all being created on these sites under the same user name. There is a good amount of them popping up, and I fear we will be subjected to a google pentalty for unnatural links if its not addressed. My first question is, am I correct thinking this is negative seo, and not some random sites that picked up our content and is going across their affiliate websites? If so, then should I preemptively disavow all these links? Are there any good ways to stop this? How can I track who is placing these garbage links? Here are some examples of these bad links. I know I can find the webmaster via a whois but I think that really wont get me anywhere, but I could be wrong. Here are some examples of the links that started popping up yesterday and today. http://pligg-cms.info/story.php?title=student-loan-debt-relief

Cutting off the bad link juice
Hello, I have noticed that there is plenty of old low quality links linking to many of the landing pages. I would like to cut them off and start again. Would it be ok to do the following?: 1. create new URLs (domain is quite string and new pages are ranking good and better than the affected old landing pages) and add the old content there 2. 302 redirect old landing pages to the new ones 3. put "no index" tag on the old URLs (maybe even "no index no follow"?)or it wouldn't work? Thanks in advance

Backlinks from foreign language websites?
I have faced an interesting situation about linkbuilding strategy. Currently I am doing SEO for one of my clients located in United Arab Emirates, so accordingly he has a website in English language. And keywords are in English. So what do you think, can the links placed on Russian language websites pass some link juice (make a positive impact on rankings) and in which language (Russian or English) should be the text surrounding the keyword? Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Russel

How The HELL Is This Site Ranking So Well In Google Places?
When I do a search for this site it ranks number 2 on Google just below the official federation of master builders website for the keyword phase "builders in london" this is the site http://bit.ly/Lypo8E which is a nasty looking blog which has nothing to do with builders and they don't even have an address anywhere on the site. The only thing I can see is that they are sharing there address with a lot of other businesses and all of the citations from those other businesses are causing them to rank higher on Google places, but surely Google can't be that stupid right?

Is it possible that since the Google Farmer's Update, that people practicing Google Bowling can negatively affect your site?
We have hundreds of random bad links that have been added to our sites across the board that nobody in our company paid for. Two of our domains have been penalized and three of our sites have pages that have been penalized. Our sites are established with quality content. One was built in 2007, the other in 2008. We pay writers to contribute quality and unique content. We just can't figure out a) Why the sites were pulled out of Google indexing suddenly after operating well for years b) Where the spike in links came from. Thanks
