My Domain has a couple of badlinks decreasing my rankings, will disavowing them reduce my Domain Authority on Moz?
-
Good day Every Body,
I have a heart aching issue, my site (nightwatchng.com) amassed a number carnivorous backlinks, I have lost rankings, i studied my search traffic and discovered that I have been hit by Google Penguin Algorithm Penalty, I was forced to believe that those backlinks were built to my site on purpose just so my rankings will drop, I know the importance of link building and thats why i follow the white hat technique.
Now the big question is, IF I DISAVOW THESE TERRIBLE LINKS FROM GOOGLE SEARCH, WILL MY MOZ DOMAIN AUTHORITY DROP FROM WHAT IT CURRENTLY HAS??
I also want to know if the Algorithm Penalty will affect the subdomain (news nightwatchng.com) of my site?

Using link research tools I was able to find out you have approximately Backlinks 569K with only Ref Domains 1K
that is not a great ratio.
One of the things I think that is extremely important that you know in conducting research on your site using builtwith.com I was able to find out that you have different canonical's for three of your four possible domains
- https://www.
- https://
- http://www.
- http://
This is something I noticed when looking at your site and has a lot to do with link equity all of your redirects are pointing to different URLs with different canonical's

This is an excellent tutorial on how to force HTTPS using Nginx or Apache
https://kinsta.com/knowledgebase/redirect-http-to-https/
if you need a lot of help with this stuff Kinsta also a very good WordPress hosting company
**If your web server is running Nginx, **
server {
listen 80;
server_name nightwatchng.com www.nightwatchng.com;
return 301 https://nightwatchng.com$request_uri;
}If your web server is running Apache,
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]You can also just use plug-in but I recommend not using plug-ins if you don't have to this one's very lightweight
https://wordpress.org/plugins/really-simple-ssl/
you may also need to use redirect rules like this one
https://www.aleydasolis.com/htaccess-redirects-generator/
https://www.aleydasolis.com/htaccess-redirects-generator/www-to-nonwww/
<ifmodule mod_rewrite.c="">RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www.nightwatchng.com$
RewriteRule (.*) https://nightwatchng.com/$1 [R=301,L]</ifmodule>A similar tool for nginx
https://www.scalescale.com/tips/nginx/nginx-redirection-www/
Redirect non-www to www for all your domains
Place this code inside your server block {}:**return 301 $scheme://$1$request_uri ;**
The full example in a server block {} to:
server { server_name "~^www.(.*)$" ; return 301 $scheme://$1$request_uri ; }
Redirect www to non-www
Redirect www to non-www for a single domain
Place this code inside your server block {}:return 301 $scheme://mysite.com$request_uri;
Example:
server { server_name www.mysite.com; return 301 $scheme://mysite.com$request_uri; }

Its really tormenting

Hi there,
- Disavowing bad links. No, it won't hurt your DA or PA.
- It's not confirmed by any official source, but having an algorithm penalty in a big portion of your site could hurt other subdirectories or subdomains
On the side, you should ABSOLUTELY not focus on private metrics as PA/DA, Domain rank, TF or what ever name any tool has for their metrics. Those metrics only reflect what that tool considers. It's known that having a high DA wont make you rank #1 for every keyword and having a low DA is not an impediment for ranking #1 and/or ranking higher that sites with high DA.
Also, as you are disavowing those links, every link profiler has an option to upload a list of disavowed links. Moz has its own.Hope it helps.
Best Luck.

Backlinks on Moz not on Google Search Console
Moz is showing thousands of backlinks to my site that are not showing up on Google Search Console - which is good because those links were created by some spammer in Pakistan somewhere. I haven't yet submitted a disavow report to Google of well over 10K links because the list keeps growing every day with new backlinks that have been rerouted to a 404 page. I have asked Google to clarify and they put my question on their forum for an answer, which I'm still waiting for - so I thought I'd try my luck here. My question... If Moz does not match Google Search Console, and backlinks are important to results, how valid is the ranking that Moz creates to let me know how I'm doing in this competition and if I'm improving or not. If the goal is to get Google to pay attention and I use Moz to help me figure out how to do this, how can I do that if the backlink information isn't the same - by literally over 10 000 backlinks created by some spammer doing odd things... They've included the url from their deleted profile on my site with 100s of other urls, including Moz.com and are posting them everywhere with their preferred anchor text. Moz ranking considers the thousands of spam backlinks I can't get rid of and Google ignores them or disavows them. So isn't the rankings, data, and graphs apples and bananas? How can I know what my site's strength really is and if I'm improving or not if the data doesn't match? Complete SEO Novice Shannon Peel

Google Ranking
I'm working on a page for couple of months now and try to rank for very competitive keyword. I have reached position 12 and it's 97% optimized, the sites keeps going up and down between position 10 & 13. I already changed content a couple of times and already created a few links with the targeted anchor tags. However I'm scared if I create more links it will be penalized. What do you suggest? Should I create more links with the targeted anchor tags or should combine the keyword in anchor tags with other words? Loading time, title, descriptions, content everything perfect optimized.

Page Authority vs Domain Authority for Inbound Links
When executed correctly, earning links from high authority sites that are relevant to my website's industry are still valuable correct? So I want to know what is more valuable to my site and influencing the ranking of my site? Is it better to gain links that have a high page authority or domain authority? What is more valuable to my site and influencing its ranking?

Backlinks from the Same Domain (But Different Pages)
Wayyy back when (in the days of yore) Mr Cutts spelled out in a video that page rank is distributed equally between the external links on the page. If there are two links on a page, each gets passed 50% of the available page rank etc. (Perhaps an oversimplification but bear with me). As a result of this, the company I worked for at the time (this was the dark ages when sidebar homepage links were in vogue) decreed that we would only ever approach a site about a link for a client once, as additional links had little extra SEO Value. Now you could argue that if there are 5 external links, each acquiring 20% of the power, and your site has 2 of those, you are getting 40% of the power, but lets forget the basic math for a minute. I have scoured the web and Mr Cutts' videos and I cannot find the answer to my question: If my site (Site A) has a backlink from SiteB Page 1, and a backlink from SiteB page 2 - does this count as two separate links in the eyes of Google? If the SAME site links out to my site, linking to different pages in different posts, does this give me more SEO benefit? Thanks for your time!

Will redirecting 250 linking domains to a new website from an old website freak Google out?
Prior to my accepting a project, the client decided to change the name of their company and purchased a new domain name to match. They hired a designer to build their new company site which has now been up and running for a little under 12 months. Up to this point they have done a good job of slowly redirecting small handfuls of linking domains from the old site to the new. They want to make one last push and point the remaining 250 linking domains from their old site to their new site. Will redirecting 250 linking domains to a new website from an old website freak Google out? If so, how many domains should be redirected at one time? My main concern is not wanting to upset Google and see the floor fall out on current keyword rankings, domain authority and page rank, etc.

Are backlinks to a domain that redirects useless?
I am working on trying to get backlinks. We are currently redirecting a few Domains to our current domain name. One of the Domains that is redirecting is the main Domain, we will be advertising in the near future. Can I send backlinks to the redirected URL or does it only carry link juice if it is to the main Domain?

Site size affecting page rank?
I've noticed the sites that rank above me for certain phrases are much larger than I am. Here are the results of the 'site:' command for the top 6 results for a phrase I want to rank for (yes, I know that 'site' is not exact): 32,600 pages 8,760,000 pages (wikipedia) 684 pages 148 pages (domain name equal to search phrase) 1400 pages 120 pages (my site) Now, I appreciate that larger sites have more stuff to link to, and therefore have more juice flowing to them from external links. BUT, is it also true that they are generating lots of internal juice by having so many pages? I've looked at the PageRank algorithm and understand that the max page rank for a site (with no external links) is based on the number of pages of that site and how well linked they are). My question is: based on all the experts here, is number of pages in the site an important factor (assuming good on-page SEO), or does it really come down to number of external links (from relevant sites with appropriate anchor text, of course)? Can a small site with tons of external links rank above much larger sites? Has anyone beaten Wikipedia for a phrase they were targeting? How did you do it? Thanks!
