Sitemap issue
-
On this link you can see the sitemap: http://bit.ly/2XC9J5G.
I don't understand what the error is.
From the search console I have the following indication: "The XML Sitemap cannot be analyzed because it contains one or more prefixes of the unassociated namespace. For example, the error is generated when xhtml:linknot preceded by xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" is detected in a Sitemap.
Will you help me, please solve?
Thank you very much.</xhtml:link>Massimiliano

seoelevated is correct.
Reference example from Google here: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/189077?hl=en

You are missing the namespace for xhtml. There are multiple ways to format a sitemap, but you are using xhtml format for your hreflang tags. You can do it differently without using xhtml. But if you do it the way you are doing it, you need to declare the namespace up in the URLSET tag.
So, where you have:
<urlset <span="" class="crayon-h">xmlns</urlset>="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9">
It would instead need to be like
<urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9" xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">

This is a dev error not an SEO error. You'd probably have more luck posting on Slack where people have had similar issues in the past. Seems weird but don't have any idea how to solve it

Hreflang implementation via sitemap - don’t need canonical tags?
Hi, Quick easy question here I hope! An international site has hreflang and canonical tags in page head sections and also hreflang in the sitemap so I can see one version needs removing. The head section versions are relative URLs and need updating so think we will keep the sitemap hreflangs instead. If the sitemap implementation is going to be used (sitemap auto-updates when changes are made to pages so seems easier to do this way) am I right in thinking No canonical tags are needed at all (and can safely be removed from head section too?). Pretty sure links included in sitemap are assumed to be canonicals, or any issues with this approach? Will be using x-default for the default language version of homepage too.

Is this setup of Hreflang xml sitemap correct?
Hi, I'm trying to setup hreflang for 2 domains. One is purely a US site and the other domain has the language-country as subdomains. For example: http://www.websiteUSA.com (Targets English - USA) https://www.websiteINT.com/en-CA (Targets English - Canada) https://www.websiteINT.com/fr-CA (Targets French - Canada) https://www.websiteINT/es (Targets Spanish) ..and so on and so forth for about 12 of these international URLs. I created an XML sitemap that looks something like this: <urlset xmlns="http://www.sitemaps.org/schemas/sitemap/0.9" xmlns:xhtml="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"><url><loc>http://www.websiteUSA.com</loc></url></urlset> <url><loc>https://www.websiteINT.com/en-CA</loc></url> <url><loc>https://www.websiteINT.com/fr-CA</loc></url> Question 1: Is this correct? In my actual file, I have all the countries listed and self-referencing. Question 2: I'm hosting this file at https://www.websiteINT.com/hreflang.xml AND at http://www.websiteUSA.com/hreflang.xml. Is this correct? Question 3: Will this help the SERPs direct english speakers from the US to http://www.websiteUSA.com while show SERPs for say English Speakers in Canada to https://www.websiteINT.com/en-CA? Question 4: For some reason, when I put up the xml site, it only listed each URL once instead of the full XML file. Should I have uploaded a text file instead? It doesn't seem to render correctly. Thank you!

Backlinks issue
Hi guys So I have 3 top level domains - I'm seeing backlinks that point to each other. Is this something that I need to fix? I'm not too sure if this practice is ethical, but I'm not entirely sure how all the links are pointing towards each other and if this is something I will get pulled up for how do i go about fixing it? My 3 domains are as follows: zenory.com, zenory.com.au and zenory.co.nz I would appreciate some advice around this! Cheers

Multilingual Sitemap with some non-matching URLs
The website has two languages, English (.com/en-int/) and French (.com/fr-fr/). Some pages only exist in French, and some only in English, but there are many that are a 1-to-1 match. So, my questions is, in the multilingual sitemap, should I only include the URLs that are alternates, and then create a 2nd sitemap for all non-matching URLs? Or should I have 3 sitemaps: 1) Multilingual sitemap for all matching URLs (https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/26208650 , 2) English sitemap for only URLs not included in multilingual sitemap, 3) French sitemap for only URLs not included in multilingual sitemap. And then create a sitemap index file to link to all 3 sitemaps.

Do I have duplicate content issues to be worried about?
Hey guys, We built a website http://www.cylon.com/ targeting different regions but with the same English langauage (Ireland, England and America). The content for the most part is the same set up on 3 different subfolders. http://www.cylon.com/ - Targeting United States in WMT http://www.cylon.com/ie - Targeting Ireland in WMT http://www.cylon.com/uk - Targeting UK in WMT Do I have duplicate content issues to be worried about? If so, how do I get around this issue? Also is there anyway of finding out if Google have in some way penalised these pages for having the same content on other pages trageting different Countries? I have not received any messages from Google in WMT saying there is duplicate so I'm not sure if this is an issue. Thanks Rob

Geotargetting Issues
I have a different problem then most. My international website (www.solmelia.com) is showing number one in english for "sol melia" in the Mexican google search engine. Plus the 3rd listing on google.com.mx is our homepage in spanish but it is showing up as a 401. We need to redirect the ccTLD (www.solmelia.es) to our current spanish version that is actually a subdomain (es.solmelia.com). Please let me know how I can fix both issues.

Geotargeting Issues
Hi, I am having a problem with geotargeting. I have gTLD (solmelia.com) but my international languages are in subdomains. My english version is showing in the google mexico search engine. I need to know what I can do to show our international as well as regional languages (fr.solmelia.com) in the right search engines. Also, having problem with mexico (es) and spain (es) causing dulipication issues and showing in both search engines. I dont think geotargeting in webmaster tools would be the action or setting a lang attribute. Let me know what you think I should I do.
