Website homepage temporarily getting removed from google index
-
hi,
website: www.snackmagic.com
The home page goes out of google index for some hours and then comes back. We are not sure why our home page is getting de-indexed temporarily.
This doesn't happen with other pages on our website.
This has been happening intermittently in the gap of 2-3 days.
Any inputs will be very useful for us to debug this issue
Thanks

De-indexed would mean it is removed from google search completely. Your having a 'temporarily' being shown and not shown into search. This usually is the result of a bad backlink profile happening, so i'd suggest to check the most recent placed links, and adjust accordingly.

Hey.
I'm going to bounce off of Will here and recommend you check Search Console first. If you are de-indexed, it should display the reason on URL inspection, under index status. If you are really getting de-indexed and re-indexed within days, you are being recrawled frequently, so at least that's one good sign.

This sounds tricky - it appears to be indexed for me at the moment.
Some things to check:
- Server monitoring - is the website up and available at all times (including e.g. robots.txt)?
- Server logs - are you serving any status code other than 200 to googlebot at any point?
- Search Console - are there any errors recorded, or if you go to the URL inspector during an outage, has it canonicalised the homepage to any other page somehow?
- I noticed a heavy reliance on JavaScript - and some of the text that appears on the homepage doesn't appear to be returning the homepage on a search for it in quotes (e.g. ["Not just any old snack box, SnackMagic lets everyone customize"] so I'd check for JS rendering issues for googlebot as well
Hope something there helps.

How can I tell Google not to index a portion of a webpage?
I'm working with an ecommerce site that has many product descriptions for various brands that are important to have but are all straight duplicates. I'm looking for some type of tag tht can be implemented to prevent Google from seeing these as duplicates while still allowing the page to rank in the index. I thought I had found it with Googleoff, googleon tag but it appears that this is only used with the google appliance hardware.

I am trying to figure out why a website is not getting fully indexed by google. Any ideas?
I am trying to figure out why a website is not getting fully indexed by google. The website was built with Godaddy's website designer so maybe this is the problem. Originally, the internal links throughout the navigation were linked to “pages” within the site. I went in and changed all of these navigation links to point to the actual url links throughout the site instead of relative links pointing to pages on the server. I thought this would have solved the problem because I thought that perhaps google was not able to follow the original relative links. When I check to see how many pages are in the google index I still see the same #. What is going on? Should this website be rebuilt using more search engine friendly code like wordpress? Is there a simple fix that will enable google to find all of this content created by Godaddy design software? I appreciate any help offered. Here is the site- http://www.securehomeusa.com/

The old version of Webmaster tools used to allow you to select whether to remove a single page from index or an entire directory.

Site being indexed by Google before it has launched
We are currently coming towards the end of a site migration, and are at the final stage of testing redirects etc. However, to our horror we've just discovered Google has started indexing the new site. Any ideas on how this could have happened? I have most recently asked for robots.txt to exclude anything with a certain parameter in URL. Is there a chance this, wrongly implemented, could have caused this?

Google Website Optimizer
So if you are AB testing two pages: index.html and indexB.html Shouldn't I nofollow indexB.html? It has all the same content, just a different design.
