Post Title - Use the blog's name or not?

In the tile of my post, shoudl I used my blog's name in it at the end or emit the blog name.
EX: title of post with keywords | name of blog
OR
EX: title of post with keywords
The site's name is 3 words long, so I'm worrying that those extra words are diluting the keywords in the post's name that I'm trying to target.

Right, the most important keywords are the first one's on the left. If you feel it best to add a title, do it, but it will be slightly better Search Eninge Ranking wise to omit the title.

Name of blog is not as important as the title as SEs look from left to right regarding importance. Put name at the end IF need be. I would tend to omit the name of the site on blogs, unless the site is all a blog with no other content.

The site's name is Small Business Doer, and I'm targeting small businesses, so in a way yes.
That's a good point about wht makes someone click on a link, and a good brand name can help is what you're suggesting, as it seems more legit.
What I'm specifically wondering, is how big of an impact will a title with say a phrase comprised of 3 keywords be vs. that same phrase with the site titel appended to the end (which is another three keywords).
Will it make much of a difference in the search rankings by removing the site name from the end?

Are there any useful keywords in your site's name? If so then definitely keep it in.
It's important to keep post titles eye-catching, which usually means short with a simple message or idea, which may leave space for your brand. Personally if I can see the brand in the title as it displays on the SERP then I'm probably more likely to click on it.
Oh and Yoast's Wordpress SEO plugin is all you need for WP...

Thanks for the quick response. It's funny because I just disabled the All in one SEO Plugin default that appends my site title to the end of my posts.
So, you're saying that the branding outweighs the extra three words on a post?

Personally, I like to fit in the site name or business name whenever I can. What I recommend doing is disabling any kind of auto-tagging for the site name and enter it in manually only when it fits and if it's relevant.
For example, All in One SEO Plugin for Wordpress by default appends your site title to the end of all title tags, no matter what. I disable this and do it manually so I know I have 100% control over my title tags.
It helps for branding purposes!

Hello everyone, I was wondering if I can get some different opinion about having a blog feed on the homepage. Using a dash or underscores in file names.
Is it better to use a dash or an underscore in file names to improve SEO? EX memory_flash.jpg or memory-flash.jpg Or does it make no difference?

No-index all the posts of a category
Hi everyone! I would like no-indexing all the posts of a specific category of my wordpress site. The problem is that the structure of my URL is composed without /category/: www.site-name.ext/date/post-name/

so without /category-name/ Is possibile to disallow the indexing of all the posts of the category via robots.txt? Using Yoast Plugin I can put the no-index for each post, but I would like to put the no-index (or disallow/) a time for all the post of the category. Hiding body copy with a 'read more' drop down option
Hi I just want to confirm how potentially damaging using java script to hide lots of on page body copy with a 'read more' button is ? As per other moz Q&A threads i was told that best not to use Javascript to do this & instead "if you accomplish this with CSS and collapsible/expandable <DIV> tags it's totally fine" so thats what i advised my clients dev. However i recently noticed a big drop in rankings aprox 1 weeks after dev changing the body copy format (hiding alot of it behind a 'read more' button) so i asked them to confirm how they did implement it and they said: "done in javascript but on page load the text is defaulting to show" (which is contrary to my instructions) So how likely is it that this is causing problems ? since coincides with ranking drop OR if text is defaulting to show it should be ok/not cause probs ? And should i request that they redo as originally instructed (css & collapsible divs) asap ? All Best Dan

Duplicate Content for Men's and Women's Version of Site
So, we're a service where you can book different hairdressing services from a number of different salons (site being worked on). We're doing both a male and female version of the site on the same domain which users are can select between on the homepage. The differences are largely cosmetic (allowing the designers to be more creative and have a bit of fun and to also have dedicated male grooming landing pages), but I was wondering about duplicate pages. While most of the pages on each version of the site will be unique (i.e. [male service] in [location] vs [female service] in [location] with the female taking precedent when there are duplicates), what should we do about the likes of the "About" page? Pages like this would both be unique in wording but essentially offer the same information and does it make sense to to index two different "About" pages, even if the titles vary? My question is whether, for these duplicate pages, you would set the more popular one as the preferred version canonically, leave them both to be indexed or noindex the lesser version entirely? Multiple Cities in Title Tag
My question is how to avoid having a spammy title. Currently I'm working on a project where a business serves four cities, but two of them are out of its home state. I'm trying to create a title tag that is appealing to the eyes, and meets what I need it to do at the same time. I was wondering what everyone though of this sample Brand X Dealer Serving Newark, DE; New Castle, DE; Glens Mills, PA; and Springfield, PA I know that too much repetition can be a bad thing, but this might not be a big deal since they are separate instances. Should I use my blog posts in a sub folder
Ok I did a search and didn't see an answer to this exact question. Most of them were about if a blog should be in a sub folder and not the blog posts themselves... so here it goes. I have a blog on my website the blog itself is in /blog/ but the blog posts themselves are situated in the root folder so it looks something like mydomain.com/cool-seo-blog-post/ Is there any reason I should change this and make it read mydomain.com/blog/cool-seo-blog-post/
