Rank Checker Tool Status
-
Hi
I take it the Rank Checker tool is not working right yet as I'm getting bizarre ranks for some of my keywords. Some stating 50th when I know we're on the first page for instance, even using GA > search engine optimisation the averages for this term for instance is 11th across all countries.
If this is the case and its still being redeveloped I'll just skip the tool for now
Cheers
David

No problem Joel
I'll do this as I asked my Houston office to check the ranking (I'm in the UK) and they have it as 25 which is fine as its a recent change for us but the Rank tool is the only system showing a rank of 50 and Google.com are showing 20
I'll send over the details.
Thanks again Joel.

Hey David,
The Rank Tracker tool should be working just fine now.
If you're concerned about potential discrepancies, can you send those over to help[at]seomoz.org so we can check it out for you? Unless you don't mind giving out your URL publicly, but you're welcome to email us.
Thanks!
Joel.

Rankings go up and down, up and down, up and down
Almost every week we have more than a two dozen keywords that will all suddenly increase in rank only to then decrease in rank right back to where they were the previous week. This happens constantly despite the fact that we are doing very little SEO-wise on a week-to-week basis. What might be causing these constant shifts?

Major Keyword Ranking Drops INCORRECT
For multiple clients I have seen a drop of more than 10 ranking spots for keywords we previously placed well for and made no changes to those pages. We decided to manually check where the pages are and majority of these keywords showing crazy declines are really sitting in position #2 without SPYW, with the rest still being in on 1st page. Now we have to personally check these dropping rankings and manually change them for reports. Any reason for this? Anyone else experiencing the same problem?

Local Rankings Drop?
G'morning! I got a disturbing report this morning that showed seven of our big keywords drop from high on the first page to not in the top 50. After further research I have found that we are now in Google's local cluster, but no longer on the traditional organic results. My question is this, has Google changed something that doesn't allow results in the local cluster AND in the traditional organic listings? I'm assuming that this is the case because we're doing smart SEO and have built these rankings up nicely over time, but then just fell off the face of the earth. I have attached a snapshot of Moz's Ranking History for a few of the keywords, as I assume this will help explain the story. (We're in green). Any insight would be much appreciated. Keyword Difficulty Tool - How to use it the best way?
Hi, I am freshman, both, here on SEOmoz and in SEO generally and have a question concerning the assessment of KW difficulty. I did browse through the Q&A-Section (great content!!) but could not find a relevant answer to my problem. So I am currently building my initial keyword list, our website is only 2 months old, so we are still in the very early stage. Fashion is a very competitive area, so the KW Diff. Tool indicates high difficulty for a lot of words and phrases. however, I identified some with percentages <50 or even lower than that. Then I compared the results of the SEOmoz tool to Google Adwards and the Google results for competitiveness differed significantly. For example: for the KW Personal Shopping I got KWD from Seomoz 33% (in Germany) and from Google 0,5 for broad and 0,64 for exact search. I am quite confused how to make the right choices for my KWs now. Which metrics should I consider most? What else apart from the competition factor is behind the metric KW diff.? Does it matter in any way that I search from Germany for Germany in German? Do you have any further recommendations for the process of identifying the best Kws? Thanks a lot in advance, best from Berlin Tani

Ranking Tracking Internal Folders
We would like to track the rankings for an internal site. The website runs inside a big corporate website, url example www.domain.com/za/. How can we effectively track the rankings of only the website inside the folder? There is currently no sub domain setup for this site. Any advice would be appreciated.

How can I get ranking keys of competitors
Sometimes it might be clever to analyse the stategy of a competitor to see with which keys they rank successfully. For example I have a webshop, so I type in amazon.com and seomoz spits out: books, dvds, ... I can now see with what keys i wont have a chance and can think of missing keys where my chance might be. Is there a possibility to find out with seomoz?

Report: keyword difficulty verses SERPS ranking
Hi there, I've been using the PRO tools for a few months now, and find them great for revealing information for my clients, and planning our SEO approach. One report I've put together has been really helpful for a client, but I built it manually and it took ages. It lists, in a spreadsheet, keywords side-by-side with keyword difficulty, target URL, and SERPs result. Sorting by keyword difficulty or SERPS position has helped us to prioritise which pages to hit first. But it took a while to generate the report, and I'm wondering if anyone has a better approach, or if this kind of report can be generated automatically: http://www.cicada-online.com/app/images/documents/product-page-SEO-blank.pdf Thanks Mozzers!
