Are These Urls for Targeted Cities OK?
-
I am working for a waterproofing company out of long beach that wants to rank for other neighborhoods around the area. But I just noticed that their URLs are targeting two locations. They have the cities built on the URLs after the long beach part. Will that affect rankings? Not be as potent as a truly SEO friendly url like example.com/services/mold-remediation/mold-remediation-brooklyn-ny? Here is an example: https://zavzaseal.com/mold-remediation-service-provider-long-island-ny/mold-removal-pro-in-copiague-ny-11726/ Another thing is the URLs say "mold removal pro" if I am targeting "mold removal copiague, NY" will that matter to rankings that the URL has pro in it?

Using city names in URLs can be helpful for local SEO, but having multiple city names in a single URL can make it less user-friendly and potentially confusing for search engines. While having city names in the URL can be beneficial for local targeting, it's usually best to keep URLs concise and directly relevant to the content they represent. In your example, a URL like "https://zavzaseal.com/mold-remediation-service-provider-long-island-ny/mold-removal-copiague-ny-11726/" could be more effective for SEO and user experience, as it directly addresses the location and service without unnecessary additions like "pro." Reducing URL complexity and ensuring it matches your target keywords can positively impact rankings.

The structure of your URLs can indeed impact your SEO efforts. Including the specific location in your URL, like "example.com/services/mold-remediation/mold-remediation-brooklyn-ny," is generally more SEO-friendly and can enhance your local search rankings. The example URL you provided, "https://zavzaseal.com/mold-remediation-service-provider-long-island-ny/mold-removal-pro-in-copiague-ny-11726," is a bit lengthy and could potentially be simplified for better user experience and search optimization.
As for the term "mold removal pro" in the URL, it's essential to align your URL keywords with the specific search intent of your target audience. If you're targeting "mold removal Copiague, NY," having "pro" in the URL may not be as relevant. Consider revising your URLs to reflect the exact keywords that your audience is likely to use when searching for your services in Copiague, NY. This can help improve the relevance of your URLs and potentially boost your rankings.

Including location names in URLs can be beneficial for local SEO. It helps search engines understand the geographic relevance of your content. URLs like example.com/services/mold-remediation/mold-remediation-brooklyn-ny can signal to search engines that the content is specifically relevant to Brooklyn, NY. However, it's essential to strike a balance; URLs that are too long and stuffed with keywords can be seen as spammy.
Excessiveness in URLs: Your example URL, https://zavzaseal.com/mold-remediation-service-provider-long-island-ny/mold-removal-pro-in-copiague-ny-11726/, appears quite lengthy and somewhat redundant. Long URLs can be less user-friendly, and very long URLs may not be fully displayed in search results, impacting click-through rates. If you can simplify and make them more concise, it may improve user experience and SEO.
"Pro" in URLs: Including "pro" in the URL, such as mold-removal-pro-in-copiague-ny-11726, might not align perfectly with the keyword "mold removal Copiague, NY." If possible, aim for a URL structure that matches the specific target keyword more closely. For instance, you might use mold-removal-copiague-ny-11726 for better alignment.
Redirects: If you decide to change the URL structure, implement proper 301 redirects from the old URLs to the new ones. This will ensure that you don't lose existing SEO equity and that users are redirected to the correct pages.
Thanks

Using city names in URLs can be beneficial for local SEO, but overly long or complicated URLs might not be as SEO-friendly as shorter, more concise ones. In your example URL, https://zavzaseal.com/mold-remediation-service-provider-long-island-ny/mold-removal-pro-in-copiague-ny-11726/, the URL structure is quite lengthy and includes several location-specific terms. While it's not necessarily bad for rankings, a shorter and more straightforward URL like https://example.com/services/mold-remediation/mold-remediation-brooklyn-ny can be easier for both search engines and users to understand.
Regarding the use of "mold removal pro" in the URL when targeting "mold removal Copiague, NY," it may not have a significant impact on rankings, but it's essential to have your target keywords in prominent places, such as the page title, headings, and content. The URL is just one of many on-page elements that search engines consider. The most crucial factor is the overall quality and relevance of your content to the target keywords and location.

Unsolved How long do you tell your SEO customers to wait before they start to see actual results from their SEO?
So, this is probably one of the most challenging questions for SEO agencies likes ours to answer. That is how long does it take for a business to see an increase in sales, because of the business investing in organic or local SEO. It ultimately comes down to how competitive the business sector is, we do know that. We are just wondering what various SEO companies tell their clients. Is it for example, they have to wait a minimum of six months of paying for SEO, before they can get the business on page one of Google? Or, instead, do you carry out an SEO audit at the start, and then make an estimate for how long it will take to get the business on page one of Google?

New business / content marketing
Hi all SEO experts, if a website is brand new, so published in the last 3 months- new domain name and website design. We have rebranded recently, using a new domain as entered new business partnership, there doesn’t seem to be much guidance on this at all, from various SEO websites, so our question is would you delay publishing new blog posts / content marketing as frequently because the company website is brand new? So would SEO’s decrease the frequency of publication of blog posts, because the website is new? Or perhaps it does not matter, and would still post every week as you would if the website has been live for a long time? So, in nutshell, what we are wondering is, is the “Google Sandbox” still in use?

Rankings preferring English URL above local URL
We've recently had a redesign for our website and it has influenced our rankings a little bit. However, what I mainly noticed is that for some keywords in MOZ the English URL is looked at in terms of ranking, instead of the local URL. It used to be just the local URL ranking, even for keywords that are more English oriented, and I'm wondering if that might be hurting our rankings. And more importantly, why it's happening. An example of a page where it's happening is: https://www.bluebillywig.com/online-video-platform/

Strategy for [list of keywords] + hundreds of cities
Hi, hoping to get some suggestions on strategy in terms of building out my site as I'm a bit overwhelmed. We provide home services throughout hundreds of locations - some major cities, others smaller yet affluent towns where demand is sufficient, though have no physical presence in the majority. My question is really regarding ranking organically (given local listings will be so difficult). I am new to Moz and have been using the Keyword Explorer to generate a long list of keywords, which I've refined to those which offer the most opportunity. Do I simply now take this list and append [city_name] to each keyword/phrase? If so, working in [list_of_keywords] + [city] into hundreds of location pages is surely going to be a nightmare to make unique, and most likely a horrible user experience. All my customers really want to see is: that we service their area, some info on how we operate, that we are trustworthy (reviews/site quality etc) clear pricing/information (across mobile/desktop) and an easy way of contacting us. If I was searching for a lawn care service in Manchester for example, I couldn't care less about anything else other than the above information. So is padding out pages with content like 'Things to do in Manchester' etc. really the way forward? Would I be better off focusing on building relationships/links with other local complimentary businesses/influencers rather than building out tons of content (on the assumption of course that what content is there is high quality, contains a smattering of keyword + city, and optimised very well)? Any help hugely appreciated!

Google cache is showing the wrong URL with CCTLD's
Hi Folks, At Lightspeed we decided to setup local websites with CCtld's. Momentarily we have issues with the Google cache. I'm not sure what's going wrong. For example if I check the Google cache of www.lightspeedhq.be in the Belgium Google it refers to www.lightspeedhq.nl. See link: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:fm0XIZ8sEe8J:https://www.lightspeedhq.be/+&cd=2&hl=nl&ct=clnk&gl=be We have the same problem for our www.lightspeedhq.co.uk website, which is referring to www.lightspeedhq.com: https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:OXdAIIFa7AYJ:https://www.lightspeedhq.co.uk/+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=uk Does Google sees it as duplicate content? Or don't we have to use 'Alternative Hreflang'? A week ago we changed our canonical links which were actually randomly referring from .be > .nl and .co.uk to .com. What can we do now to make sure all is properly indexed? Best, Ruud

When is it ok to have title longer then 55 characters
I am doing a site audit for a potential new client. The previous web design company used very long titles like this (Case Management | Client Advocacy | Expert Witness | Legal Support | Medical Consultation | Pennsylvania and Michigan) 117 characters. This is the title for a services page. What is best practice here. To me this is key word stuffing but it is relevant to the clients page. Is it alright to grossly overdo the title character limit for the sake of keyword optimization? I would probably do something more like (Medical consultancy services | company name with location) What do you all think? Looking for a quick response!!!

How to Best Optimize for Multiple Cities and Services Areas?
A business with offices in 3 major cities and loads of service areas hired us to build its website. Here's my internal debate regarding local SEO: Do I build one site with a thorough sitemap that utilizes one page per city and/or region for local SEO? Do I build a primary site with a limited sitemap and a subsite for each city (e.g. companyname.com/city) that essentially replicates the sitemap from the primary site? If I go this route, the content on each page of each subsite would be unique (not copied and localized versions of the content on the primary site), but what about the keywords? For example, should each subsite use the same keywords as the primary site (e.g. companyname.com/keyword-or-phrase and companyname.com/city-name/keyword-or-phrase OR companyname.com/keyword-or-phrase and companyname.com/city-name/variation-of-keyword-or-phrase). In the end, I suppose the question is, "Should I build one site with a more thorough sitemap and single pages for each city and/or region OR should I build a site for each city with less thorough sitemaps?" Budget constraints won't allow for option C, which is build a site for each city with a thorough sitemap for each. Thank you guys in advance for whatever insight you're willing to give!

Lots of [keyword]in[city].com domains - what to do?
A client of mine had purchased a lot of domains. They all start with the same keyword following by "in" following by a cities name. The cities are all the cities around their location. They had the pages set up to all look the same with very small differences in content. A bunch of duplicate content. All of them have a DA of 8 and PA of 19. There are 35 of them total. They get roughly 30-60 hits a month each but it's mostly all spam. The idea was for users to type in [keyword] in [city] in Google and these websites show up. A competitor of my clients had done something similar which was working for them. The main website (separate of these) gets ~1500 visits per month of non spam traffic and gets ~10 referrals from these websites. What should be done with these domains? Chalk it off as a bad idea and have them 301 to the main website until they expire? Or can they be changed into something useful? If so, how? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Note: I did search for this similar topic but it was hard to search it out and I did not find an answer. Thanks!
