PA and DA for Homepage
-
I've been looking at the PA and DA scores for the homepage of websites we have built and have been comparing this to competitors. What I'm finding is that the PA score is always higher than the DA, however on competitors sites the PA is much higher in relation to the DA. What could be the reason for this?
For example, some of our website homepages may have PA / DA scores such as the following:
Website #1: PA37 DA25 (PA:DA = 1.48)
Website #2: PA31 DA21 (PA:DA = 1.47)However competitors often have figures like this:
Website #3: PA40 DA21 (PA:DA 1.9)
Website #4: PA 25 DA 11 (PA:DA 2.27)I even saw one website with the following scores:
Website #5: PA36 DA5 (PA:DA 7.2)
How do you explain such a high Page Authority in relation to the domain authority for that site?
When I look at the scores for our websites I often feel that the DA is at a good level, but the PA for the homepage doesn't seem as high as it could be compared to competitors. My initial thought was that maybe we had a lot of backlinks to other pages on the website (not the homepage) but this is not the case at all - pretty much all our backlinks are to the homepage. Could it be to do with internal linking structure? Any other ideas?
Many thanks in advance for any help with this.

Thank you for the clear explanation! I now understand the distinction between Domain Authority (DA) and Page Authority (PA). Our company website also experiences this issue, with a high DA but relatively low PA on individual pages. It's reassuring to know that as our pages rank better and attract more quality backlinks, the PA will increase accordingly.

@jennyyy hi Jenny, thanks for your reply. I appreciate that PA and DA are different things. They both factor in links though don't they? In the example I gave in previous reply, how could a website have such a high PA but such a low DA?

Page Authority (PA) is a score developed by Moz that predicts how well a specific page will rank on search engine result pages (SERP).
DA score is calculated using linking root domains and the total number of links. DA stands for domain authority. -
Hi @chicuae - many thanks for your reply, it's much appreciated.
Just to give an example, this image shows the top 10 SERPs for the keyword "care home furniture" in the UK: https://i.ibb.co/23pr418/care-home-furniture.png
The website ranked #4 on that screenshot has a Page Authority of 36 and a Domain Authority of 5. How can the Page Authority be so much higher than the Domain Authority? Surely any backlinks pointing to that specific page (the homepage) would also be factored into the Domain Authority?
Compare that to another website that has the homepage in the SERPs i.e. https://www.carechair.co.uk/ in position 6, their PA and DA and much closer to each other.
You mentioned that DA takes into account backlinks "as well as other factors". What are those other factors?
For PA, you mentioned that includes backlinks pointing to a particular page, as well as the content relevance and internal linking structure. What specifically about the internal linking structure could cause such a big difference between the PA and DA of the homepage?
Many thanks in advance.

The reason why DA and PA are often different is because they measure different aspects of a website's authority and influence:
Domain Authority (DA) measures the overall authority of a website's domain. It gives an indication of how well a website is likely to perform in search engine rankings compared to other websites. DA takes into account the quality and quantity of backlinks pointing to the entire domain, as well as other factors.
Page Authority (PA), on the other hand, measures the authority of individual pages within a website. It evaluates the likelihood of a specific page ranking well in search engine results. PA is influenced by factors such as the number and quality of backlinks pointing to that particular page, the content relevance, and the internal linking structure.
Since DA and PA consider different sets of factors and are calculated separately, it's common for them to be different for the same website. For example, a website might have a high DA due to strong backlink profiles pointing to its domain, but individual pages within that website may have varying levels of authority (PA) depending on their specific content and backlink profiles.
In summary, DA and PA are complementary metrics that provide insights into different aspects of a website's authority and SEO performance.

Only my homepage ranks for my keywords, should I delete my other pages?
I am an independent artist and all of my business inquiries come through my website (www.ChrisCarlsonArt.com). Over the last 6 months I have been trying to get pages other than my homepage to rank for my keywords, but I haven't made any progress. I worry that I am cannibalizing my keywords since my pages all have similar information. Should I just delete my other pages and focus on ranking my homepage? Also, if I delete my other pages will that have a negative impact on my rankings?

Spammy links redirecting to homepage of site -
Hey guys, I'm auditing a website at the moment and Moz is showing a few spammy links linking to it. The problem is these domains are all 301 redirecting to the domain I'm auditing. Let's say I'm auditing Site A. Site B is been flagged in Moz OSE with 12 spam flags. When I try to open Site B in a browser, it redirects back to Site A. What's the best thing to do, here? Disavowing domains redirecting to the site is surely a bad idea? Cheers.

Why is my homepage ranking BELOW a subpage?
Search "peer to peer lending". The page http://www.ratesetter.com/peer_to_peer_lending.htm appears higher than the homepage. I don't think this is because of keyword density on page either as Zopa (competitor) have zero mentions of this keyword on their homepage. What are your suggestions for getting the homepage ranked higher? Thanks, Simon.
