Sitewide Links delete or add nofollow
-
This question has been asked before, and I’ve read most of the answers. However, things are somewhat different, as we are a web hosting company and have many clients that link to us site wide in the footer, as well we have a website builder application where we control the footer links on our end user's websites. Most use just our “domain name” or “Powered by Domain” Should we remove them? It does provide visitors some value as they can tell where the website is hosting, has been developed or how to sign up for our website builder or web hosting services. Right now, they are all follow, and we are working on cleaning up our link profile so looking for some great advice on how to proceed. Our link profile is very large since we are a web hosting company that has been around for 10 plus years.
Thanks in advanced for your recommendations.

You should be fine then. However I would still insure your site isn't sitting on any penalized sites others performed unethical tactics, or Google found unethical and penalized along the way.
Open OSE and I would look into the lowest DA's PA's leading to your website and try to remove them if they are to low.
Have a great night.

1. We have http://domain.com and Powered by http://domain.com.
2. We have a ton of backlinks to our website we are an older web hosting company.

I have a two questions.
1. Do you have anchor keywords(Not your urls or brand name) from those sites linking back to your website? Please note: your brand name would be considered to Google your url without .com with no spaces, if you have spaces this isn't your brand name and you can still penalize yourself for your term. This is why people get penalized for EMD sites, they think they are ok to build to the same keyword over and over of the domain and you just can't do that, it won't end well.
2. Are these all quality websites that are established?
Pending on those answers you could have anchor text diversity issues for your website which could cause several issues. For example, a footer site wide link could generate a lot of backlinks and cause your density of a keyword to skyrocket to 20% if you don't have many backlinks to your website. This could easily penalize you for ranking for that specific keyword.
If any of these sites are using unethical tactics or get penalized from Google, it would be good for you since you are on them as well. If you are linked to several low quality not so established websites this could also not look good for your website.
Footer links are risky if they aren't used correctly. I would make sure they aren't site wide at ever. I would also make sure that the sites are DA 30+ if you are going to place your link on them.
Have a great day.

Hi,
If they are domain specific then you aren't going to run into too many problems. I've seen companies in your situation in the past use nofollow on a portion of their clients websites though just to have some diversity. It is my understanding though that if you aren't keyword stuffing them then the risk is significantly negated.

Link Spam from Competitor Help
A clients link profile is recently getting lots of spam links related to "abortion pills" and "does my husband cheat" I found a few of the sites that link, and it appears that there is some malicious code on the site injecting links at the top of the site. http://www.med-reporter.at/index.asp?men=Gesundheit&submen=Produkte&artid=1587&kategorie=&blockzl=3 Can anyone look at the link above and tell me what network or software is creating these links?

Should we nofollow footer social links?
Like most sites today we have a whole raft of social links in our footer, these are on every page of the site and link out to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc Should these links be nofollow to avoid juice leaving our site or would you recommend allowing them to be followed to increase the power of these social sites? Is there a definitive Yay or Na on these social links?

Keyword links in footer
Hi - I am trying to help a site to get out from under a Google manual action penalty - down as "Partial Matches - Unnatural Links to site".
Technical SEO | | StevieD
I am checking through their links - the site that links most to them is a local directory style site - it has 2,682 links back into 1 page (Home) The directory site was built by the web co. that built my clients' site and they put a keyword link in the footer of the directory site - the keyword was "Buy Truffles". All my instincts say that is a bad thing! But - this is what is perplexing me - they are ranking no.1 for that keyword! Whereas they have lost rankings (i.e. not top 50) for all the other keywords they were targeting. So I don't get it! Can anyone explain why this is. I feel I should I get that link removed but don't want to take out their only ranking keyword! Webmaster shows about 55 different pages in the directory site have a link back to my client. Hope you can help.

Are sitewide links bad for SEO?
I have 11 real estate sites and have had links from one to another for about 7 years but someone just suggested me to take them all out because I might get penalized or affected by penguin. My main site was affected on July of 2012 and organic visits have dropped 43%...I've been working on many aspects of my SEO but it's been difficult to come back. Any suggestions are very welcome, thanks 🙂

No results with Link Analysis
So I have been working with a domain since November last year that still shows no improvement in regards to the link analysis. I am baffled because we have gotten them onto the first page on Google for a few of the keywords we are optimizing. Any help with this is greatly appreciated and I am a noob so definitely open to learning. Thanks in advance to all of you. Domain in question - www.modernportablerefrigeration.com Domain is currently on a shared server if that makes any difference. Cordially, Todd Richard admin@richfinn.org

Link to overall brand pages
On our website we have two ways to get in a brand environment. We have general brand pages and brand pages divided by category. At this moment the category brand pages get the most SEO value, because we have a link on our homepage to these pages (via the mega dropdown). The problem is that we would like to assign the SEO value to the general brand pages (with all the articles) instead of the category brand pages (with only articles within a category). We prefer to optimize the general brand page without a link to this page on the homepage for now. for example; Those two pages have the most SEO value

What loss of value would this link experience?
What loss of value would this link experience? If the link is actually a link to the from site that is 301'd to your site like this example below: i.e., www.domain.com/29834?=www.yourdomain.com My thought is that simply because you're going through a redirect (In this case a 301) you will lose slight value there. But I'd love to hear your thoughts and reasoning on any other affects if any (direct or indirect) you think it may have.
