Google Doesn't Display A Right Page Title
-
For some reason Google Displays a wrong page title of some of my pages.
E.g. page http://www.imoney.my/home-loan
The title in the search reach results says "Home Loan - iMoney", but the one I've set up is <title></span><span class="webkit-html-tag">Housing Loan: Compare Mortgages of All Malaysian Banks @iMoney.my</span><span class="webkit-html-tag"></title>
Even when I preview it on the preview tool, it shows the full title, but when I google - again the short one.
Does anyone know what the reason for that is?

Hi Bruno,
Google does reserve the right to edit how page titles are displayed in search results and they are doing this more and more. In theory, they do this to actually improve user experience but because this is algorithmic, they can sometimes get it wrong or it may not look exactly how you want.
Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to stop Google from changing the title tags. I think they are less likely to change them if you have one that is well-written and relevant, but in reality, you're not going to make it relevant for every single keyword search that your site displays for.
Here is a relevant piece of info from these Google guidelines:
"If we’ve detected that a particular result has one of the above issues with its title, we may try to generate an improved title from anchors, on-page text, or other sources. However, sometimes even pages with well-formulated, concise, descriptive titles will end up with different titles in our search results to better indicate their relevance to the query. There’s a simple reason for this: the title tag as specified by a webmaster is limited to being static, fixed regardless of the query. Once we know the user’s query, we can often find alternative text from a page that better explains why that result is relevant. Using this alternative text as a title helps the user, and it also can help your site. Users are scanning for their query terms or other signs of relevance in the results, and a title that is tailored for the query can increase the chances that they will click through."
Here are some good resources showing other examples of changing titles as they wish:

I hope that helps!

When I go to imoney.my/home-loan, it is redirected to http://www.imoney.my/v2/home-loan6, so that could be part of the issue.
Also, don't know if it is the same in Drupal, but in Joomla, when you want to optimize the title tags, its done through the menu page, not directly on the article page. It looks like it's displaying that because that is the default page title, so I don't think you have found either the correct page or the correct place to optimize the title for that page.
Good Luck
Jeff

Hi Bruno,
Based on my analysis, below I have listed few major reasons for why Google generating its own title tag for your pages in SERPs.
- Missing Title Tag
- Title Tag is Lengthy
- Title Tag is Too Short

Will including "Contact Me" form degrade Google page ranking?
I have a content-rich page about one of my offerings. Will Google knock down the ranking if I include a contact me reply form on the page vs including a link to a standalone reply page? My concern is that including the form will cause Google to downgrade the page as being "too commercial".

Should We Wait To Launch a Redesigned Site After Google's Core Web Vitals & Page Experience Algo Update
We are redesigning our WordPress site (over 1300 posts and pages) and are on schedule to launch in May of 2021. Should we wait for after Google's Core Web Vitals & Page Experience algorithm update?

Will it upset Google if I aggregate product page reviews up into a product category page?
We have reviews on our product pages and we are considering averaging those reviews out and putting them on specific category pages in order for the average product ratings to be displayed in search results. Each averaged category review would be only for the products within it's category, and all reviews are from users of the site, no 3rd party reviews. For example, averaging the reviews from all of our boxes products pages, and listing that average review on the boxes category page. My question is, will this be doing anything wrong in the eyes of Google, and if so how so? -Derick

Web designer doesn't see duplicate pages or issues??? Help!
I have a website that has duplicate pages, and I want to fix them. I told my web guy and his response was: "we do not see any issues on our end. It is not hurting any ranking in the 3 major searches. We have no duplicate pages" Here's the site http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/ Here's the home page again http://www.wilkersoninsuranceagency.com/index.php Here's what MOZ say: Please see attached image. I'm not sure what to tell him, as i'm not a web person, but MOZ is telling me we have issues on the site and I feel like they should be fixed?? 7QWkVU0 tYCjV

SVG image files causing multiple title tags on page - SEO issue?
Does anyone have any experience with SVG image files and on-page SEO? A client is using them and it seems they use the title tag in the same way a regular image (JPG/PNG) would use an image ALT tag. I'm concerned that search engines will see the multiple title tags on the page and that this will cause SEO issues. Regular crawlers like Moz flag it as a second title tag, however it's outside the header and in a SVG wrap so the crawlers really should understand that this is a SVG title rather than a second page title. But is this the case? If anyone has experience with this, I'd love to hear about it.

If Google still shows my old title in the search results then there is no way my title change could have changed my ranking yet right?
If Google still shows my old title in the search results then there is no way my title change could have changed my ranking yet right? In other words if I changed from TItleA to TitleB but search results and cache still show TitleA then any SERP drops or increases would still be entirely based on titleA right? Thanks.

Should one page with markers or six separate pages?
Hi - I'm working on a site that was set up with 6 bios on one page, with markers jumping to each person's name. I was thinking about separating those into 6 different pages, but not sure if that's the right thing to do. Advice about keeping the bios on one page vs splitting them up? (Am I more likely to rank for those peoples' names if I have a unique page, or is the one page url with each different marker in it, just as good?) Ranking well for those names isn't a huge goal of the site, but it would be nice to make the choice that would help with that rank. Thanks for your input Emma
