For those of you that used LINK DETOX.
-
Did you go ahead and remove all the TOXIC and HIGH RISK links? Just the toxic?
Were you successful with the tool?
-
I've used Link Detox for a while. I've found that all Toxic links are classified appropriately, but that's not always the case for suspicious and healthy. Links marked as moderate, low risk, or very low risk can still be coming from spammy directories, link lists, massive resource pages, etc. And on the opposite side, sometimes links from BlogSpot blogs will be marked as suspicious even though it's a legit blog that linked naturally to you. They're just flagged because they have few backlinks or low trust. It's best to do a manual review of each link to see what's really worth keeping.
I've used Link Detox with Rmoov in the past and had good results with it. Rmoov is easy to use and keeps track of everything for you in a Google Doc.

I have looked at removeem, but their video says "find all the links with keywords in anchor text and remove them". That sounds like great way to lose even more rankings. Plus it doesn't really do anything. You are paying for basically making a spreadsheet from what I see.
I thought about using Link Detox with rmoov.com, or link delete.
-
I don't know if this is what you want because you did ask specifically about detox however if you're not using that tool one another option I have used
I have had a lot of success.
remove'em is also made by a company recommended by Moz called http://www.virante.org/
Hope this was of help,
Thomas

All of our Toxic links seemed to have good reason for being labeled such, and I did Disavow those domains. There is LOTS more info in the downloaded CSV files than ever shows on the Link Detox screen.
Some of the High Risk ones were kept. Usually it was the thing about them coming from a de-indexed site or blog. When I looked at the site or blog it appeared to be a nice site that just happened to get hammered by Panda or Penguin. I figured that the owner of the site was working hard on getting the penalty lifted and eventually it would be a good site again.
I also disavowed a few marginal domains to help re-balance my anchor text profile. Which was out of balance enough to get Penguined for the over-optimized keywords.
Successful? We will not know until Google runs a new Penguin update. Hopefully they do it real soon...

When domain a buys domain b (whose links direct to c), does domain a has links redirecting to domain c ?
Hi, I really need to know what happens when a company or domain (a) acquires another company with domain (b) with its links pointing to yet another location (c). Does company a then have redirects to c?

Location Links in Footer
Our business is in 10 cities. We offer identical services in each city, there's absolutely nothing different about the services we offer based on location. We have a contact page for each city with a bit of unique content (phone, address, photo of city, list of counties we service). It really would be a grey area to create subsites for each city and try to rewrite the service description content 10 times. However, we want to improve organic results. We of course have Google Places listings for each city. From an on-page SEO perspective, wouldn't it only have the possibility of benefiting, not hurting local SEO but add the city name linked to that city's contact page in the footer? I've seen arguments against it, and could see maybe if you were in like 50 cities instead of 10, but is there really any observed downside to doing that in the footer for every page? We can't title the difference service pages with the city name in the headings or page title, so at least we'd have anchor text in the footer.

Hammered by Spam links
When we moved from one host to another in Wordpress engine, we had this insertion weird redirect thing happen. We 410'd the page cgi-sys/movingpage.cgi, but it hit us hard in the anchors. If you go to ahrefs, we are literally all Asian in anchors text. Anybody have any suggestions, thank goodness it looks like it finally stopped. I am looking for creative ways to repopulate our back end with the right stuff. Any thoughts would be great! Heres a example: allartalocaltours.com/tumi-tote-401.html ↳customerbloom.com/cgi-sys/movingpage.cgi ↳www.customerbloom.com/cgi-sys/movingpage.cgi ↳lockwww.customerbloom.com/cgi-sys/movingpage.cgi

Internal Links Query - What should be use as anchor text
Hello All, We are looking at our internal links and most of them say "More" or "View All" The "more" anchor Text links - are usually positioned on the Body Content as we only display a portion of the content and then the user clicks more to see all the content ? - Should we be changing the "More" Text to something more keyword /phrase friendly i.e " more information about carpet cleaning" or "more information on Tool hire" or would that be deemed as spammy ? thanks Peter

Is there any SEO advantage to sharing links on twitter using google's url shortener goo.gl/
Hi is there any advantage to using goo.gl/ to shorten a URL for Twitter instead of other ones? I had a thought that goo.gl/ might allow google to track click throughs and hence judge popularity.

Should We Link To Our News?
We just started an "In the News" section on our webpage. We are not sure what would be the best for SEO purposes. Should we link to the news websites that have the stories about our company, even if they have no link bank? Or should we just take screenshots of the news article and only link to articles that link back to us (this is what we a currently doing)? Here is our news page, http://www.buyautoparts.com/News/

Link Request Email on Site`s Link Pages
Hello I have assembled a list of web-sites that have "Links" section that has a list of persons` favorite tools. Those pages have a link to my competitor. I know my tool is just as good if not better and want to request a link. I`m thinking of sending an email asking for a link and offering a small amount of money for it. Questions: A) How much should I offer? Should I offer anything at all B) Is there an email style that someone can suggest that has been tested and proven to work for this type of situtation?
